A bill to add a carving of President Donald Trumpto Mount Rushmore has been introduced by a MAGA politician.

Florida Representative Anna Paulina Luna announced the bill Tuesday calling for Trump to be added to the South Dakota monument with the message: "Let's get carving."

To serve as a historic mocking of DNC incompetence in losing a race they could have chosen to win, I'd be in favor of it being carved. I assume Trump is collecting gofundme donations for this.

What do you bet they try to put him on our currency as well. Maybe a 3 dollar bill, or a new half-cent coin.

I mean this won't happen, but I kinda threw up in my mouth a little bit.

The one thing keeping me sane is the realization that that old crusty piece of shit will be dead soon, and I'll never have to see their rapist face again.

[–] dhork 49 points 1 week ago (4 children)

What makes you think it won't happen? They have the votes for it.

[–] [email protected] 106 points 1 week ago (10 children)

The rockface isn't actually sufficently stable to survive adding a 5th face.

They try to add Trumpo, they're very likely to end up with NO faces.

So yeah, I doubt they'd actually go through with it.

[–] kreskin 2 points 3 days ago

What if they make the trump face very very small?

[–] [email protected] 51 points 1 week ago (1 children)

In that case fuck yeah let's go

[–] [email protected] 15 points 1 week ago (1 children)

At that point might as well just do it Taliban style. A row of tanks shoot at it until the mountain is just a mountain again.

Thanks for the little bit of science that says this won't happen. It makes me feel better.

[–] [email protected] 32 points 1 week ago

I'm just hopeful enough that 'If you do this, you stand a very very good chance of completely destroying a national monument.' is enough to get at least a few of the less-nutty Republicans to balk.

If nothing else, we love our monuments and symbols, and destroying one to put his face on it is proooobbbbaaaallllllly too far, still.

[–] Chainweasel 19 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Oh it doesn't mean it won't happen, they're just as likely to fuck up the whole thing by trying it anyway.
We can obviously listen to the science of it and know it won't work, but they don't believe in science.

Like any of the GOP give a second though to logistics, cost, or ethics for their vanity projects? Like Trump isn't used to half assing construction jobs? Like he isn't above blowing Lincoln's face to bits to replace it with his own if he has to?

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 week ago (4 children)

Reminds me of an old Isaac Asimov story.

There's a floating city called Atlantis. It's the headquarters of the tyranny. One insider figures out a way to sabotage the place and crash it, using the leader's own vanity against him.

Better yet, they will, and the whole abomination will crumble.

So a single sycophantic congresswoman from Florida introduces a bill with no budget, no analysis on its feasibility, and no widespread interest from the Republican base; a bill that hasn't even gone to committee, yet alone be eligible for a vote; and you think that equals "they have the votes for it"?

Jesus fucking Christ, take a few minutes to learn just the bare fucking basics of how the government works. There's a Schoolhouse Rock video that even explains it nicely in song form.

ANY congressperson can submit a bill for anything. It doesn't take much at all. Tomorrow a congressperson could submit a bill saying that nails are illegal and all meat products are to be replaced by stone figurines of Marie Antoinette. It doesn't mean anything! Congresspeople create this kind of crap literally all the time! It's not worth talking about until it has slightly more than a snowball's chance in hell of having support.

Hooray, more bullshit bills purely for the purposes of signalling!

[–] andros_rex 95 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Mount Rushmore was intentionally done to insult Lakota/Dakota people anyway. The “Six Grandfathers” were sacred, and Mount Rushmore was intentional defacement and sacrilege.

Haven’t the Lakota people suffered enough?

[–] Warl0k3 14 points 1 week ago

Well clearly no.

" How can we keep distracting from implementing Project 2025?? "

[–] Sterile_Technique 41 points 1 week ago

...silly shit like this is a distraction - shit like the email that just went out to every federal employee encouraging them to resign is where the potential for damage is. Today.

I hate this fucking country.

[–] cabron_offsets 23 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I just hate republicans, really.

It would be vandalized very quickly, which could be a nice outlet for a lot of people.

With time it would probably turn orange from all the piss too.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 1 week ago (3 children)

As much as I like the thought, I've been to Mt. Rushmore and I don't think vandalizing it would be easily achieved. Maybe with a drone or paintball gun - the first time - after that I think they'd be prepared. There is national parks apparatus surrounding it IIRC.

[–] [email protected] 31 points 1 week ago (1 children)

You think they’re gonna not defund the National parks service? They’re basically the “don’t ruin nature” police, and the people in charge now don’t fucking care about nature.

Surely this will bring down the price of eggs

[–] Resand 32 points 1 week ago (4 children)

Sounds like a great idea.

A constant reminder for the US for centuries to come.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (2 children)

I think it is a fantastic idea because they will hire a shit contractor who is completely incapable and they will either do a laughably bad job or they will just take the money and run, whatever happens is gonna be hilarious...

Adding another genocidal colonizer on a colonizer monument beside other genocidal colonizers.

Yawn.

[–] Agent641 29 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Who is this "Republican Bill" fella?

[–] whotookkarl 14 points 1 week ago

Florida's best and brightest they sent to DC to represent themselves, Anna Paulina Luna, the same certified genius who tried to expunge the Trump impeachments for extorting a foreign leader to influence US elections by withholding Congress approved resources, and inciting a failed insurrection and disenfranchising American citizens from their votes in federal elections.

[–] [email protected] 29 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I will only support putting Donald Trump on Mount Rushmore if you then proceed to push him off.

I’m actually okay with this because it’s bizarro and devalues the assholes already on the mountain. Good let’s reveal the farce for what it is!

[–] rayyy 24 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Might as well put Hitler there beside him.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 week ago

Putin, nibbling his ear.

They're taking the piss at this point.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 1 week ago

He would only sign it if they carved away all the other faces to have only his on the whole mountain. He doesn't share.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Is this not the onion? Am I hallucinating from smoking weed or some weird shit? What the fuck?

By the popular, via the people, of the person.

- The Gettin’ mine address.

[–] solrize 14 points 1 week ago

with the message: “Let’s get carving.”

Surely she meant "Carve, baby, carve"?

[–] SocialMediaRefugee 13 points 1 week ago

It is like a bunch of babbling drunks now

[–] mercano 12 points 1 week ago

I mean, we’ve got two slave owners up there, why not throw up a sexual predator too?

[–] BonesOfTheMoon 11 points 1 week ago

I'll be there with a chisel and spraypaint.

Definitely what a sane party and not a cult of personality would do.
