Summary

Donald Trump Jr. has become a key adviser to his father, influencing cabinet appointments for Trump’s upcoming administration.

He is reportedly prioritizing loyalists over experienced candidates, backing controversial figures like Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for health secretary and Tulsi Gabbard for director of national intelligence, both of whom face Senate challenges.

Trump Jr. also played a role in selecting JD Vance as vice president-elect and blocking Mike Pompeo’s cabinet return.

Despite this, Trump’s reliance on family has lessened, due to a more structured team led by chief of staff Susie Wiles.

This US election, considering the comparative power a US voter has, is the stupidest act I’ve seen by a population in my lifetime.

[–] 9point6 62 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

Well we did Brexit in the UK, currently holding the record for longest lasting self-inflicted fuck-up. Hell it's been long enough that even some of the right wing loons are starting to realise that it might not have been the sunshine and roses they were promised.

However I'm under no illusions that a another 4 years of trump could easily make that look rational by comparison.

[–] samus12345 15 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Time will tell whether a Trump 2.0 dictatorship was a longer-lasting self-own than Brexit.

[–] Clinicallydepressedpoochie 2 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

The real self own is everyone continually trying to convince each other that trump was inevitable. I think he is stupid as shit and the fact were struggling to defeat him is just telling how dysfunctional everything has become.

[–] JustZ -2 points 2 months ago

The election isn't decided by an individual. Wtf are you talking about.

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod 71 points 2 months ago (1 children)

It's normal for the oldest child to take over decisions for a parent whose mental capacity is faltering.

And naturally when the king dies, the throne will go to his heirs.

Every rhetorically cautious bone in my body doesn't want me to say it, but I think we elected the king.

^I'm saying rhetorically cautious because I feel if I said "careful moderation" people would think "politically moderate" where I mean being careful not to jump to conclusions and make wild claims (extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence)^

In between bumps of pocket cocaine?

[–] Alteon 49 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Yeah.... remember how much conservative media was making fun of coke-addled Hunter Biden?

Now we have coke-addled Trumpy Jr. Making the goofiest fucking cabinet picks the world has ever seen.

It's so interesting how they will dig through a stolen laptop and make a huge deal of it every single day for 2 years.

Trump Jr does cocaine in public on camera and it's perfectly normal.

I think that's a major difference in left vs right media. The Right understands marketing. You need to repeat a message over and over before it gets into the public consciousness. Democrats never stick to one subject. They're always onto the new shiny criticism. For example, labeling Trump as "weird" was just gaining traction when they moved onto the new idea.

[–] spankmonkey 15 points 2 months ago

Dems stuck to hope and change during Obama's campaigns and it worked. They of course learned nothing from success.

[–] rayyy 9 points 2 months ago

When you control the media, they let you do it.

[–] Soup 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Right? It was wild how the weird thing was really going well and they decided to close out the last couple of months by hanging out with Liz Cheney.

[–] CitizenKong 4 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

The weird thing was all Walz and I also felt he was pretty much sidelined towards the end, despite being probably the most well-liked vice presidental candidate in recent times.

[–] Soup 1 points 1 month ago

Right, dude was left to do his own thing and he felt totally detached from Harris.

[–] Xanis 38 points 2 months ago

Just remember, everyone: The number one favorite strategy in the Republican playbook is...

Create a loud problem to hide the ones they don't want you to see.

Every time something happens that is meant to cause outrage ask yourself what else is going on. It's always reported on, just have to look.

[–] [email protected] 36 points 2 months ago (1 children)

“The reality this time is we actually know what we’re doing,” Don Jr told Fox News earlier this month. “And it’s about surrounding my father with people who are both competent and loyal.”

What a massive self own. He's straight up admitting they were totally clueless last administration. And the reason they are choosing all these hacks is because they will go along with the next coup attempt. This is going to be an absolute shit show.

[–] AbidanYre 17 points 2 months ago

competent and loyal

No one that's loyal to these idiots is remotely competent.

[–] [email protected] 23 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Already laying the groundwork for his chosen successor?

Hopefully, Trump will die, and the right will completely fracture along the dividing lines already apparently established at Mar-a-lago (fuck this fucking timeline)... Trying to appoint Don Jr. as successor could definitely become a major rift with Vance and whatever the third type of crazy that last faction is.

[–] Lasherz12 2 points 2 months ago

Knowing this timeline, we'll end up with Tucker Carlson.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 2 months ago

No one is picking qualified individuals to run a government, let alone an actual country. They are basically trying to make a very cheap reality TV show on a shoestring budget. Their casting process consists of "I know a guy who knows a guy, who's cousin looks perfect for the part". This is about a facade (looks) and ratings (popularity). Except the ironic part is, none of these people have even been well loved (popular) and they are all ridiculously ugly on the inside. We need to cancel this show as soon as possible.

[–] Riccosuave 11 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Well that explains a lot.....

[–] Diplomjodler3 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Do you think they'd be better if Trump picked them himself?

[–] Riccosuave 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

No, not at all. However the absolutely insane breadth of schizo ass picks we have seen sure tracks with that Don Jr. cokehead energy.

[–] Diplomjodler3 5 points 2 months ago

Being a cokehead is now requirement number two, on top of being a sex offender.

We elected whoever has last talked to the President, since he has the mental capacity of a goldfish and will just repeat the last thing anyone says to him.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 months ago

Trump put his entire family in the white house last time. Of course he'll do it this time, too.

[–] CharlesDarwin 1 points 1 month ago

Remember how CRAZY the wingers got over Hillary trying to create some kind of medical coverage for all Americans? "We didn't elect that bitch!?" and other such rumblings from the teabagger types.

Now the failson is setting up a cabinet. Who elected Junior the cokehead? As much of a fuckup as donvict is, his son has accomplished even less...

[–] cabron_offsets 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Imagine the power ivanka could wield if she chose so.

[–] Today 3 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (2 children)

Daddy's girl will be our first female president and it makes me sick.

[–] samus12345 5 points 2 months ago (2 children)

If Democrat voters refuse to vote for a woman, what makes you think Republicans will?

[–] Today 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)
[–] samus12345 3 points 2 months ago

If they're gonna just be appointing dictators, Ivanka would not be even close to the top of likely candidates.

[–] very_well_lost 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Ever heard that old saying, a Republican is someone who would shit in their own mouth just so a liberal would have to smell it?

Rs will happily do something they don't like (vote for a woman) if it means feeling like they "owned the libs".

[–] samus12345 2 points 2 months ago

I think too much of their base is misogynist for that to happen. Why would it be her over her brothers?

[–] cabron_offsets 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Not gonna happen. No way are we electing a woman in the next 30 years.

[–] CharlesDarwin 1 points 1 month ago

I really do think Kamala would have won if it wasn't for inflation, even if America's bout of inflation was much less than other countries...
