News and Discussions about Reddit

Welcome to !reddit. This is a community for all news and discussions about Reddit.

The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rules

Rule 1- No brigading.

**You may not encourage brigading any communities or subreddits in any way. **

YSKs are about self-improvement on how to do things.

Rule 2- No illegal or NSFW or gore content.

**No illegal or NSFW or gore content. **

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-Reddit posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.

If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

:::spoiler Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here.

MODERATORS

Here I'm going to criticize the right real quick.

The right is so boring. Jeeze. Always hysterical. They don't like information that is rooted fact. So culturally hitlerist.

Reality has a liberal bias that conservatives only overcome by rigging the system.

Tired of reporting this thread? Debate us on Discord instead!

That bot speaks a lot about the quality of the typical r/conservative thread

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 day ago

Spoiler alert: they will just ban you on discord

[–] x00z 20 points 1 day ago

I hate it that all these people call it "left wing" because there's censorship.

This censorship is actually right-wing censorship to protect their website from trouble from the left-wing. It's as simple as that.

Companies like Reddit and other social media don't care about the content. They only care about money and a reasonable good image.

"The left is boring"

Damn, imagine picking a side based on your need to be entertained.

[–] [email protected] 54 points 2 days ago

The way I allways think about it when someone talks about politics being boring.

I compare it to a nuclear powerplant.

I don't want to live next to an exciting nuclear powerplant, if I had to live next to a nuclear powerplant, I want it to be as boring and as dull as possible.

Same with politics, I don't want an exciting government, I want a boring and predictable government.

"They are completely uninterested in information that counters their views"

Oh, the irony.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

You have been banned from /r/conservative

[–] [email protected] 23 points 2 days ago

Flaired users only

[–] DarkFuture 43 points 2 days ago (1 children)
  1. Those are amateur numbers. The conservative sub has never been able to get upvoted posts even close to the top upvoted daily posts on Reddit.

  2. Most of us are here because it's become clear to us that Reddit is quickly devolving. 3rd party apps banned. Sub mods with enough power to get your entire account banned site-wide. Subs that auto-ban you simply for commenting in other subs they don't like. A new block system that changed to block your replies entirely, instead of just preventing the blocker from seeing your replies, so you cannot correct anyone's misinformation for others to see. And the propaganda and misinformation is simply off the charts.

Reddit is becoming a social media cesspool like so many others before it. Time to jump ship.

lemmy is better but not that better.

i always downvote AI stuff on lemmy and i noticed i cant downvote on main AI instances anymore recently. i never say anything, never comment.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 2 days ago (1 children)

i noticed i cant downvote on main AI instances anymore recently.

If all you ever did was to downvote content, maybe the mods did indeed ban you. We had a discussion recently on [email protected] on what to do in such situations.

I never say anything, never comment.

Seems like it

Why not just block the pervasive communities or instances? I get pretty annoyed with the AI content too, but it feels so much easier/satisfying to block the comms and know I'll never see them again lol

All the actual left wing Redditors came here. The only thing left are the conservatives who don't hide being conservatives, and the nazis pretending to be leftists to troll.

[–] douglasg14b 19 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

All the actual left wing Redditors came here.

Lemmy has 0.005% (no, this is not a typo) of the active users. For every million Reddit users, there are 50 Lemmy users. To try and put this in perspective, if reddit was the entirely of the United States, Lemmy would be a town of ~17,000 people. Or about 1/10th of a square mile of Manhattan during the day.

Let's not make up wild, inflated, statements like this . We aren't even large enough to make up a single medium sized reddit community. Nevermind actually affect change on Reddit by way of user migration.

[–] Doomsider 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Wow, and it is everything I ever wanted it to be already. It is almost like having millions of users isn't the good thing everyone wants it to be.

[–] douglasg14b 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

I wasn't stating that it was.

Just stating the facts. In threads where delusioned Lemmy users act like they are having a big impact on Reddit.

We should focus on our community, how to grow it organically, how do we avoid bot hell? How do we foster something better? Instead of inflating egos and trying to stick it back at reddit, when we are but a blip.

[–] Doomsider 1 points 1 day ago

Thanks for that, I agree completely.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 day ago

How many be bots tho

[–] glimse 31 points 2 days ago (2 children)

That's not true at all. I know a lot of lefties who still use reddit because their niche communities do not exist in any real capacity on lemmy

[–] chuckleslord 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Can confirm. They're the only communities I still engage with back there (namely cremposting and wetlanderhumor)

[–] theherk 2 points 2 days ago

Tai'shar Malkier

[–] douglasg14b 2 points 1 day ago

Of course it's not true, Lemmy is absolutely tiny compared to reddit. Napkin match puts it at 0.005% of the active user base.

[–] Clinicallydepressedpoochie 5 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Its gotta happen, right? Where the astroturfers are wasting time on friendly fire. Like two catfish meeting online?

Reddit is not our friend. But I guess us Lemmies already knew that.

But Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok are not our friend either. We need to consider the current social media landscape as right wing moving forward especially as more media moguls bow to Trump.

[–] Clinicallydepressedpoochie 27 points 2 days ago

We have to accept that the ones weilding all the power right now are accelerationists themselves. They want the government to fail and they want to install their own. Unsurprisingly, they also own all the tech companies you just listed.

[–] Treczoks 6 points 1 day ago

If you fail to locate the downvote button, don't complain.

[–] Freefall 20 points 2 days ago

Conservatives are so mad that the world is left-leaning. The denial and self-delusion is almost sad to see.

[–] mesamunefire 30 points 2 days ago (1 children)

It's very strange to see that subreddit on the front page every day since the election.

Before it would only hit once in a blue moon. It's too bad reddit did away with the up/downvote count a long time ago. To think you could actually get the real score on reddit. Now I have a feeling their algorithm is promoting certain posts like this one.

But that's why we are on Lemmy/pixelfed/etc.

[–] Clinicallydepressedpoochie 12 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Maybe it's a good thing because it might signal left leaning people leaving but I think it's more likely they are seeing artificially boosted.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (8 children)

Yeah it’s 100% astroturfed man fucking hell

Reddit is not real life

Funny, neither is Conservatism

[–] krashmo 11 points 2 days ago (1 children)

They won the election and made large gains with pretty much every demographic so in a very real sense, yes it is.

I assumed we were upvoting them to laugh at them.

Awww, one of them thinks they learned something..

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

They are so mad rn it's funny.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I always upvote their posts in r/all so everyone can see what morons they are and laugh at them

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Best to keep yourself informed so you can see all this madness and lack of empathy and critical thinking. They've been in their bubbles too long. 2025 polls show that they are becoming increasingly unpopular. They are so mad lol.

Reddit made Trump. Change my mind.

[–] Clinicallydepressedpoochie 28 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

I think the_donald gave him some more runway but really I think it was him calling into Fox and Friends that solidified his base.

[–] [email protected] 21 points 2 days ago

The media made Trump. That includes social media.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Really? Reddit? Above 4chan, FoxNews, Andrew Taint, Elon Musk and Twitter, Facebook, Tiktok and Instagram? Reddit???

Dont like that site either but this is absurd.
