I like the idea of Snopes being called "Snipes" in an parallel universe. It gives it an air of vigilante je ne sais quoi and it makes me giddy.

[–] Lemminary 5 points 8 hours ago

Omg, please make this a thing.

GIVE THE BIG TITLES WITH BOLD UPPERCASE CHARACTERS A TRY ;)

Oh I'm not criticizing your lack of decorum. I'm criticizing your hypocrisy.

[–] Lemminary 4 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Your point is "look at what this one woman did" as a counterpoint to "women can't go out at night because violence is so prevalent". How am I making that up? That's literally what you're doing. Lol

[–] Lemminary 4 points 9 hours ago (3 children)

I mean... you're the one being hostile and hysterical now too telling people to go fuck themselves instead of defending or elaborating your point.

Wow, a single article being used in a feeble attempt to overstate a trend that's almost a magnitude smaller than its counterpart, and that doesn't compare very well to the topic of the thread?

Gee, I wonder why people aren't convinced with you spewing facts.

[–] Lemminary 0 points 9 hours ago

Well, yeah. Who is doing the overwhelming majority of the murdering? And why does this fact bother upstanding men at all? Are you not secure in your ability to convince others that you're not a threat? I have no problem with that at all.

[–] Lemminary 0 points 9 hours ago

First of all, I'm glad you found a way to make this political. Good on you.

Second of all, just like secure straight men don't get violent when they're accused of being gay, there should be no reason upstanding men should take it personally when women voice their concerns about other men.

I don't. Why do you?

[–] Lemminary 0 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago)

I live near one of those areas. And while I'm weary of some shady women, it's quite a common trend that women get creative and men get brutish.

I'm more worried that the woman may pickpocket or deceive me first way, way before she pulls a weapon out on me.

It's not enough to point at a dangerous place and be like "see how bad people are?" but you also need to be be granular and observe the trends in behavior.

That said, I have been warned of a gang of three men and one woman who have been accused of mugging folks in the neighborhood. But even that is rare to hear. Will it ever be three women and one man?

Edit to fix autocorrect.

I know it may be too soon to talk about, but given the rapid twist in American politics, I'm wondering what we can infer from the current situation.

We know Trump is very influenced by other leaders, most of whom are invaders themselves like Russia, Israel and China.

Russia invaded Ukraine under pretenses of denazification. Israel committed genocide using claims of anti-terrorism. Now Trump has warned of fighting the cartels. Today we see a blatant Nazi salute.

What can we expect in the short term? What could be the consequences in the long term? And now entertaining the idea of a possibility, what resistance is there from the inside? I have so many questions.

The news has been rattling, to say the least, that someone could so blatantly make the sign on live media. He has too many followers who could take that as a sign.

What's your take? I'm hoping this could spark some good conversation.

E: spelling

I have a couple times. The last time was a couple years ago with someone I met online who I was getting to know but didn't like after the first date. They asked if I felt like watching some movie and I didn't respond and they didn't follow up. Tbh, I probably would've answered if they had sent a second text. I guess I avoided telling them the truth but it stuck with me like a pebble in my shoe and I feel bad thinking about it.

I sincerely don't know to what degree Trump and his crew may change the US, and by the looks of other countries, it could be as extreme as silencing the opposition by force. Are there any efforts to protect dissent? Can this be planned for and successfully fought back before it becomes a problem? Do you have a different view entirely?

I'd like to report mod activity that's not following sitewide rules on your server and instead bans people because they feel it's not worth their time. I would like for the mod to be overlooked.

The sitewide rule #1 says I can expect to participate without harassment and feel welcome. If I call a mod to look over a user breaking this rule, I should expect them to intervene, right?

So I don't understand why @[email protected] is deleting all my comments and banning me instead of the person being aggressive towards me because "both sides of the argument are nonsense" without even bothering with the actual concern. I didn't call them over to look at anyone's argument, I specifically stated in my report that the other person was being extremely disrespectful.

So now I'm banned:

Banned Lemminary from the community Curated [email protected] reason: troll expires: in 30 days

Their excuse? I'm a troll, apparently. I invite anyone to check the messages to see if that's true or if I'm merely sharing my opinion.

I don't care about the ban--keep it that way. But please let me know if something is being done about these mods who enjoy pushing people around. It's infuriating that on top of being dog-piled on, berated & insulted in the thread all day (I got links), I also get treated this way by the people who have taken on the role of protecting users. If I hit the report button, I entrust the person in charge to keep a level head and do their job fairly.

Thank you for your time.

I woke up screaming (self.goodoffmychest)

I'm not sure what's going on with me, but just a few minutes ago I woke up screaming for my life. I don't even know what happened and I barely remember what it was.

My right arm was competely numb and I felt like I had crossed a point of no return in my chest. I don't think it was a heart attack, I'm quite alright now, but I felt like I was going to die.

I've suspect I have sleep apnea that keeps getting worse and worse. I wake up suddenly if I fall asleep while sitting down and every time it gets harder and harder to wake up. Until today that I woke up in a huge panic after lying down on my bed.

My head feels foggy and I feel uncertain. I don't know what to do. I can't go see a specialist or a doctor for that matter. But, fuck, I thought I was a gonnet for a second.

Video description:
Batman stands face-to-face with Superman. Batman looks down and suggestively traces the S on Superman's chest with his index finger. Superman looks surprised and lets out a soft gasp with bated breath.

The image shows a player character from Star Wars standing in a dimly lit control room filled with various buttons, switches, and panels. In front of him, a defeated Stormtrooper in white armor sits awkwardly on a control console, with its legs spread wide, likely due to ragdoll physics. Another Stormtrooper lies on the floor near the character's feet. The setting has a futuristic, industrial look.

Image description:
The image is a six-panel comic featuring Sephiroth from Final Fantasy, a character with long silver hair and black armor, entering a diner filled with characters from various video game franchises. In the first panel, Sephiroth stands in line, receiving porridge from Kirby’s Chef Kawasaki, a cheerful, orange, round character wearing a chef's hat. The following panels show Sephiroth searching for a place to sit. He spots a table labeled "Villains" and another labeled "Anime Swordfighters," both of which are filled with characters fitting those descriptions, with some even motioning for him to join. Sephiroth maintains a neutral expression throughout these scenes. In the final two panels, Sephiroth smiles as he discovers a table with characters from the "Exhibitionists" group, who have removed most of their clothes and gear. He happily sits down shirtless with them to eat, taking a seat next to Samus, Kirby, Shulk from Xenoblade, and Donkey Kong.
