News and Discussions about Reddit

Welcome to !reddit. This is a community for all news and discussions about Reddit.

The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rules

Rule 1- No brigading.

**You may not encourage brigading any communities or subreddits in any way. **

YSKs are about self-improvement on how to do things.

Rule 2- No illegal or NSFW or gore content.

**No illegal or NSFW or gore content. **

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-Reddit posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.

If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

:::spoiler Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here.

Digg is rebooting. (reboot.digg.com)

Looks like it will be digg's corpse, with ai and the blockchain painted onto it.

UPDATE EDIT: https://i.imgur.com/5nM7cBC.png I got unbanned.

Context: I was making fun of a conservative who suggested everyone who supports Ukraine should join the war. In other words, I was making fun of a person who seemingly was the one inciting violence by telling people to go to war.

Post itself: https://www.reddit.com/r/Conservative/s/ZeY9OMxwXB

My understanding is that mods can silently remove content from their subreddits, but it will still show up in your comment-history. However, admins can silently remove content and it will NOT be in your comment history. Well, when I'm logged out, I noticed some of my comments were "removed" but when I'm logged in they show up. Looking at the comments more closely, I don't believe they broke any rules...at least not site-wide rules. I received no notification that they were removed either.

Further, these comments ALL related to the Trump/Zelensky interview. I get the need to moderate online communities, but there's something particularly dystopian about quietly censoring someone for expressing political-speech you don't like, and doing it in such a way that they (theoretically) don't even realize they've been censored (if they're not weird paranoid fucks like me). You've just secretly put a bubble around them, all for the crime of political speech you don't like.

Here are some screenshots to verify what I'm saying:

...

And so the same thing happened when I posted this exact post (above the "...") in another sub on Reddit...one I participate in regularly. And here's how that looks:

Reddit is scared (sh.itjust.works)

“There doesn’t seem to be anything here”

Reddit search pulls in the most arbitrary posts when given a single keyword, even deleted comments remain indexed to the post. But they somehow have nothing about lemmy. That seems suspect, considering search isn’t otherwise broken.

Edit: getting results for lemmy now? Did I happen to search within the 10 second window where search was broken? That feels unlikely

So, I know this isn't a help forum or anything but, being Lemmy I'd think some people are on the same boat as me too.

I got permanently Banned in reddit for vote manipulation, I foolishly and childishly used 2 accounts to up vote myself to make it seem I was winning arguments. I then created a new account to start fresh but I didn't know that counted as a Ban Evasion(I didn't know ban Evasion was a thing), but that got banned too.

I've appealed by apologizing since I am guilty and genuinely sorry , however I'm not a spambot or anything. I made a mistake and just want a second chance.

Is there anything else I can do to start fresh "safely"? (factory reset my android device? I Can't change my external IP tho) Has anyone been on a similar situation and gotten their account reinstated?

Being honest I like Lemmy but it's nowhere near as populated as Reddit, sadly
