I chose not to have children. Apparently, to some people, this is considered self-indulgent. Those people can fuck right off.

Oof, this is rough to admit even anonymously as someone who cares about the environment:

I really like the feeling of being both hot and cold at the same time, so when the temps finally drop in my area, I like to crack the window open beside my computer and then sit with a space heater. Sometimes when I drive to work in the winter, I also like to crack my windows and have the heat blasting.

[–] cheese_greater 7 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Its so good. I'll do ya one better: AC blasting full volume while under 4 layers of blankets at bedtime + 1...3 cats

[–] AquaTofana 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)
[–] cheese_greater 2 points 1 month ago

Plus multiple cats

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I'm a winter window down driver too. Drives my passengers nuts even though I have the heat cranked lol

[–] AquaTofana 2 points 1 month ago

My people!!!

[–] dingus 17 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Well I just ate a buttload of cookies

[–] cheese_greater 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)
[–] Zachariah 6 points 1 month ago (3 children)

anything you eat becomes a buttload eventually

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

What if you eat with your butt

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago

That seems like a speed running exploit

Lunch. Even though I work from home, I have a standing rule to never eat in my office. Never. I always go to the kitchen or dining room, and take my time.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago (2 children)

This is actually a great habit my wife and l do. We don’t eat on the couch, we actually have dinner at the table (though admittedly yes, we’ll still watch the TV sometimes from the table).

It just feels so much better. The last time I visited my family (out of state) and we were eating something, I brought my plate to the table and everyone else went to the couch, and it just felt kind of dirty to eat there.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I absolutetly hate eating from the sofa, I don't know how people do it regularly.

In our house we do both, but each place has a dedicated food list. Comfort foods, fast foods and lazy foods can be eaten in the living room, it feels gratuitous to eat pizza rolls and veg at the table, but it's an easy thing to eat and watch a family show with. Proper meals, fancy meals, long noodles, and soups are all table food. Watching a show over a plate of braised chicken with seared acorn squash takes away from the presentation of the plate and lessens the experience.

[–] lewdian69 3 points 1 month ago

What if you are sitting instead of standing? Can your eat in your office then? Tee hee, ha ha

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 month ago

I am lazy every minute I can be now. Almost all my freetime is now just decompressing. The height of this is a hot bath that goes for well over an hour.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 month ago

Every way possible. If I'm working, then I'm spending, and I'm buying that nice thing. I save 1.5 weeks worth of everything every week so I'm way ahead of rent, utilities, subscriptions, and groceries. I can take days off in peace. If I want fancy Japanese food then I'm getting it. I spent a third of my life expectancy locked away living a mediocre life so sad the best thing about it aside from video games was eating a pop tart when I was 5. I'm living the rest of my life the best way possible.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I've started to appreciate myself a "little bit" more in the mirror. Not saying I've started noticing narcissistic tendencies. But I'm allowing it as I'm in the best shape of my life. Have I kissed my biceps goodnight? Y'all know I have.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 month ago

Yay! Isn’t it great to love your body? I have discovered a whole new side of myself with fitness. Hell, no, I am not embarrassed at liking what I see in the mirror as I finish that burpee!

There are few things in life one can say they truly earned and a fit, strong body made through dedication is one of them.

Good food can be so indulgent and still healthy. When my kids were little I'd get a small container of raspberries at the grocery and eat them in the car to be selfish with them. Just didn't have much for myself at that point in my life. Those honeycrisp apples are so delicious.

[–] 200ok 2 points 1 month ago

Raspberries are sooooo tasty!!

[–] latesleeper 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Definitely soda, specifically Dr Pepper. My New Year's resolution is to stop going out of my way to buy it. I will likely still have it if it's included in a food combo or given away free.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago

There's Diet Dr. Pepper if it's the calories at issue.

[–] RBWells 8 points 1 month ago

My mornings are indulgent because my days are busy.

No alarm to wake, husband wakes me gently.

Sex every day.

Coffee for work, often from the Cuban place up the street, and slow commute in by e-bike.

I also buy fancy cheese because I love that stuff, and have a large collection of liquors, liqueurs, and some wines, I don't drink every day and honestly don't drink enough to bother with anything I don't love. Less and better is the way.

[–] 200ok 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I drink three different types of liquids and they're all just a step above average: nice wine, good coffee, and fizzy water.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago

there are only 2 different types of Coffee.

Good and Great.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 month ago

I spend too much on care products, which are sometimes or even often unnecessary. I just really enjoy some nice smells and glittery things sometimes. My newest bad habit are nail stickers...

Bonus points for ancient books with some long dead person's annotations. Those are my favorite

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Food. I have such a hard time not indulging in it.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

This has crept up on me as I get older. I worked in fast food a lot when I was younger and would just cobble something “healthy” together on breaks. For awhile I drank Huel all the time because I got burned out on food.

After going vegan I discovered a whole new world of flavor, and a bit before that realized I’m obsessed with spicy food (I grew up in the Midwest with very low exposure to spicy food). Now that I have basically all the material things I want, I really value having an incredible meal more. Unfortunately that’s resulted in poor choices and I’m getting fat.

I was going to say "books" as I have my own library, a little free library for donations, and a comic book room.

But it's really any physical media. Books, DVD, Blu Ray, UHD, Video Games.

Really the only gap is music, I've never been much of a music guy, but for what I LIKE, I go whole hog and get the discography. Beatles, Pink Floyd, Chris Smither, Kelly Hogan, Cake.

Specialty coffee. I order whole beans from a roaster I know. It's $20-25/lb. I could buy grocery store coffee for half that, but it doesn't taste anywhere close.

[–] LucasWaffyWaf 5 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Weed.

It's becoming a problem for me, actually.

Coffe is the only physical indulgence I can afford, because the other self indulgent behaviour is not to plan anything, to wake up and choose what I spend my time on.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago
  • I'm an adrenaline junkie. Skiing, fast go-karting, jumping out of planes, all that jazz

  • I have nearly 2 TB worth of games on the hard drive that I store games on, though ARK takes up a sizeable chunk of that space oops

  • Eating my fave foods. I've always naturally fasted and I don't have an appetite until pretty late into the afternoon, so this is more than a good excuse to make up for that!

  • Clothes shopping. I found a really nice dress the other day and it feels so comfy to wear!

[–] chronotron 4 points 1 month ago

i'm going to buy a 5090

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago

I use weed way more than I should

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago

every way possible, I do what I want, when it fits me. Even though it will ruin my future, as im still in that phase of life where everything you do determines what kind of slave labor you will be doing later. I just don't care. Also I'm stressed out by everything so I just don't do anything stressful, essentially sleeping and attending school in some capacity that is well below normal. I'm rarely caught doing something I don't want to.

6 hour baths.

Phone in zip-lock bag.

Bottle of red water.

Add more hot water when it cools.

Once or twice a year self-care.
