A state senator in Tennessee urinated on himself while taking a field sobriety test, according to reports and video from the incident. Sen. Ken Yager, a 77-year-old Republican representing a district in the north of his state, was pulled over by a Georgia State trooper around 5 p.m. on Tuesday on suspicion his vehicle was involved in a hit-and-run the same day.

Burying the lede:

Georgia authorities confirm state Sen. Ken Yager was arrested for driving under the influence after a hit-and-run crash.

It’s literally in the synopsis for the post. How is that burying it?

[–] jacksilver 28 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Maybe it depends on the app/platform but I only see titles when scrolling, so it sounded like he just got pulled over. Thus, not drawing attention to the bigger issue, which is the hit and run.

Peeing on yourself is bad / somewhat comical, hit and run is fucked up.

That's exactly it and it's not really a focus for the article either. I'm not blaming OP but the headline writers. They're usually the problem since most people don't read past the headline.

Breaking: Trump is considering Sen Ken Yager for a position in his cabinet.

You don't know if I'm joking or not...

[–] [email protected] 26 points 1 week ago

It's a straight up 50-50 chance

[–] Glitterbomb 24 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Blackmailing him is going to be hard, the pee tape is already released.

[–] Iheartcheese 8 points 1 week ago

Still the poo poo tape

[–] teft 13 points 1 week ago (1 children)

White House Chauffeur if we're going with the overall theme of the other appointees.

[–] Glitterbomb 7 points 1 week ago

In charge of NHTSA maybe? He's vaguely familiar with putting yellow lines on roads.

[–] hoch 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The previous president provided this pee-pant politician a position in his party?

How plausibly possible.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 week ago

Didn't the republicans have a Pee Party movement at some moment in history?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

With Trump it is all about that "alpha male" image. He would never associate with anyone that pissed their pants.

[–] MeekerThanBeaker 4 points 1 week ago

That's not what I heard. 🤫

[–] jacksilver 1 points 1 week ago

I assume head of the ATF?

[–] TheTechnician27 98 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Wow, guys, I'm just so surprised it turned out to be a Republican doing the depraved shit from the headline which failed to mention a party. I tell you, one of these days that heuristic will be wrong, just you wait.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It happens every so often, just enough to give people links to share.

[–] TheTechnician27 23 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Democrats do depraved shit every once in a while, but I feel like because it's so prevalent in Republicans, "Democratic" always seems to crop up in the headline when that happens. Definitely could be confirmation bias, though.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Every Republican senator is in a drug fueled orgy? Media sleeps.

One democratic city counselor ate flaming hot Cheetos? BIG NEWS!! SCANDAL!!!

[–] mPony 4 points 1 week ago

Tan suits :: skin flutes

[–] SkyezOpen 3 points 1 week ago

They do, but they face calls to resign within the fucking hour the news breaks. Republicans circle wagons.

[–] teft 33 points 1 week ago (1 children)

“An unfortunate incident happened last night,” Yager said in a statement released to local media.

Yager was re-elected for another four-year term in November.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago

That passive voice is such horse shit.

[–] werefreeatlast 27 points 1 week ago (1 children)

He's 77! He should be president!

[–] Snapz 14 points 1 week ago

Yeah, but he pisses on himself, a president has to shit himself and have a reputation for smelling like shit, fast food grease and makeup

[–] FlashMobOfOne 26 points 1 week ago

This dude has endangered way more people than drag queens and trans folks.

[–] SelfProgrammed 15 points 1 week ago

Would you look at that... My mental image of every republican talking head made real

[–] Professorozone 13 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Why did they pull him over? Didn't they run the tag?

Saw a video of a judge that got pulled over and he really gave the cop a tongue-lashing. After the cop ran the tag and verified he was a judge he apologized profusely. Figured it worked the same for senators.

[–] SulaymanF 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

State senator pulled over in another state. The ID doesn’t say his job, so if they don’t recognize him out of jurisdiction…

[–] Professorozone 1 points 1 week ago

Makes sense.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 week ago

So... Did he pass the sobriety test?

[–] kikutwo 6 points 1 week ago

Tennessee whiskey.....

[–] bcgm3 5 points 1 week ago

So shit-faced he was piss-pantsed.

[–] RonnyZittledong 5 points 1 week ago

I am sure in Trump land this is somehow a good thing

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago (2 children)

No sympathy for him, but it got me wondering if it's really fair to subject elderly people and others who have difficulty standing to the "walk the line" test.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago

It's actually a defense I've heard before. Just like a stripper in 10in platform heels isn't going to do well on that test either

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago

It's they don't have the motor skills to walk, then they probably don't have the motor skills to drive.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

As one with a weak bladder, I kinda sympathize...

When not with the person (as I have no clue who he is), but at least with this problem

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

If it was just peeing, maybe he was trying to get home to the loo.

But add in the drunk driving, lost my sympathy.

Wait, he'd done a hit-and-run crash!?

Jail time!

He can have a nice clean pair of orange pants.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago

Yeah, I wasn't with him for the rest of the shit he did
But focusing on peeing himself, is maybe not the thing, we should focus on
That's pretty much all I wanted to say

Alcohol is a helluva drug, y'all
