I think it's because it's ultimately cheaper to cover them than to let them go to the emergency room and have to pay exorbitant prices on the back end. That's a guess though.

I hope it's just the transitioning process that's messed up and not a permanent one.

So you get a new doctor every time? Damn, that's fucked up.

I tried to find more info and does seem convoluted. Are you being kicked off from the pandemic coverage?

I hope most, if not all, states follow suit. Everyone should have basic healthcare.

I still want to block threads, but I'm glad you found one that suits you.

It's a little disheartening to hear, tbh. I've always thought of all of the instances as hobbyists just doing their thing, but we don't really know. I do know now that the LW admins can be trolls, I don't know if Ruud is one of them or doesn't have the time to check on them though.

About 700,000 adults between ages 26 and 49 will be eligible as of Jan. 1

California will welcome the new year by becoming the first state to offer health insurance for all undocumented immigrants.

Starting Jan. 1, all undocumented immigrants, regardless of age, will qualify for Medi-Cal, California's version of the federal Medicaid program for people with low incomes.

Previously, undocumented immigrants were not qualified to receive comprehensive health insurance but were allowed to receive emergency and pregnancy-related services under Medi-Cal as long as they met eligibility requirements, including income limits and California residency in 2014.

Oh, I’m sure there’s all sorts of stuff going on that’s not obvious. So long as it STAYS that way, I’m OK with it. :)

I can see why you wouldn't want to know. But as a user, I want to be able to not have to check if things are deleted or modified for no reason. Good luck for next year, it's going to get crazy I'm sure.

I'm replying to comments that I wanted to talk to bruh, good to know you're keeping track, lol.

I get it and that's why I think you're doing a good job. Not a fan of modding in general and I have mad respect for those who do it well. I am not thrilled with the Lemmy World admins.

When I say curate, I'm being very generous. I'm saying delete comments that they don't agree with or want seen.

This feels even worse than reddit.

Yep, and that's really hard to do. I've deleted all my comments on politics and have moved away.

A federal appeals court on Friday allowed a lawsuit brought by a group of U.S. Capitol Police officers against former President Donald Trump to move forward, ruling that Trump is not entitled to absolute immunity from civil lawsuits. The suit focuses on Trump's alleged conduct surrounding the Jan. 6, 2021, assault on the U.S. Capitol.

On my first page of comments, I said, "Your comment was removed, I wonder why." I wanted to see the context and I kept following it back and an entire thread was missing if I go back far enough. There was no wheel of death or "deleted by user" or whatever it says. There was no removal in the mod logs. I don't think this is malice, but why aren't they keeping up the thread and just saying "removed by mod" or "deleted by user"? It's super confusing and it makes some really interesting threads just disappear. Is this instance rules or Lemmy rules?

I was reading this article from 1970 and he's obviously a complicated dude: https://archive.is/POtvB

The lyrics are a little haunting and I've never heard it before.

The new law makes illegally entering the country a state crime, a misdemeanor. A peace officer, which is broadly defined and can include such people as local police officers and security officers of the state medical board, can inquire about a person's citizenship and immigrant status if they think they have entered the U.S. illegally. If so, a magistrate can order them out of the country.
