Reality TV gameshow host endorses reality tv show host. Good old Joe still eating bugs for a paycheck.

[–] jordanlund 8 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Hey now, he was really good on News Radio!

[–] [email protected] 19 points 1 month ago

Man imagine a world where Phil was still around and UFC joe was just wiping sweat off gym equipment.

[–] FlyingSquid 5 points 1 month ago

Dave Foley, Phil Hartman, Stephen Root and Maura Tierny had to spend months of their lives with both moron Joe Rogan and Andy Dick. It's amazing only Phil is dead and not by his own hand.

[–] gnate 2 points 1 month ago

I wouldn't say that he was really good, only that he's never been better.

[–] [email protected] 65 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (3 children)

From the dude who endorsed Bernie Sanders in 2016. What happened Joe? You went through the batshit crazy alt-right pipeline during COVID didn’t you…

That’s probably a good explanation. Pretty much everyone of these podcasting guru type people start of centrist or leftcenter then once they start to mix with the big leagues and make lots of money, all of the sudden they become right wing figures.

Joe Rogan, Lex Friedman, Andrew Huberman, Bret Weinstein

Man, I miss the r/decodingthegurus reddit sub where we could make fun of and expose these dipshits.

[–] Diplomjodler3 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

What's stopping you from creating a community like that here?

[–] [email protected] 15 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

I’ve already created around 6 communities and mod an extra two across this account and my alts so I kind of have my hands full here

Also if I had the energy to make and run a community I think one I’d love on lemmy is probably c/fivethirtyeight or c/guerrillagardening so I’d probably prioritise one of those.

[–] FlyingSquid 15 points 1 month ago (1 children)

And there's a risk of a community like that blowing up overnight when you've already got a bunch of mod duties and you're the only mod in the new community.

As I have discovered.

Accepting applications, by the way.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Congrats on that one.

Overnight success 😁

[–] FlyingSquid 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Thanks. Let's hope it doesn't keep me as busy as it has. The fact that I've had to add a 'no racism' rule already...

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 month ago

Hopefully you can find a couple people to fill in the mod team.

If my experience on lemmy is worth anything, pretty much any community where the majority of posts are in picture formats, and where the content is accessible/understable to most, usually grows pretty quick.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Sigh, Lex Friedman used to be an interesting listen for financial stuff, and now he's just another MAGA loser spouting bullshit economics

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

It pisses me off that these people get some of the most interesting people on earth to join their podcast and then all turn out to be MAGA arseholes.

I have to wonder who pays them and how much.

[–] FlyingSquid 29 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Joe Rogan has made it very clear over the years that he believes whatever people he knows tell him without bothering to check for himself to see whether or not it's true.

So he may have actually had no idea what Bernie's platform was.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 month ago (2 children)

He used to be pretty progressive and had Bernie on his podcast. He used to be in favour or medicare for all, legalising weed, etc.

idk where he stands now though.

[–] Zannsolo 25 points 1 month ago

I believe his general position is fuck you I've got mine

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 month ago

Bernie was criticized a lot for going on the Joe Rogan experience.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I listened to the man until around 2018, by then it was starting to get clear he was becoming increasingly “macho” and elitist so I stopped.

[–] cowfodder 3 points 1 month ago

Same. Even saw him and Tony Hinchcliff live in Detroit at one point. Seems like he went hard right after moving to Texas.

[–] RememberTheApollo_ 51 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Where’s all the Rogan apologists now? So many posts that discuss Rogan and his behavior rationalize his right-wing lean as not really right wing and act like he’s playing some sort of 3D chess to keep view counts up. Dude’s trash. This is who he is.

[–] FlyingSquid 15 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Do people still do that? He's been pretty open about being right-wing for a while now.

[–] RememberTheApollo_ 11 points 1 month ago

Yeah. Seen a few replies defending Rogan’s behavior as some sort of smart business move.

[–] proper 50 points 1 month ago

shitbirds of a feather

[–] breadsmasher 47 points 1 month ago

man who was repeatedly kicked in the head for a job, endorses felon for president

[–] jaggedrobotpubes 38 points 1 month ago (1 children)
[–] [email protected] 32 points 1 month ago (1 children)

He lacks the depth and the warmth

[–] FlyingSquid 5 points 1 month ago

Hasn't Ben Shapiro's wife suffered enough?

[–] Valmond 36 points 1 month ago (3 children)

What a shit personality.

I remember when he got like famous (on the internet), and you could actually believe he wasn't a total tool (he had good people coming to his show at least), I'm hijacking here a bit but who should I listen to that's interesting and not a fucking fascist enabler?

[–] foggy 9 points 1 month ago

Both Johnny Knoxville's podcast and Steveo's podcast are pretty great.

[–] FlyingSquid 7 points 1 month ago

Total tool? Maybe not. Total fool? For sure. He was talking about the moon landings being a big hoax long before he got his show.

[–] cmbabul 2 points 1 month ago

Stuff on Bill Simmon’s podcast network might scratch your itch? I usually only do the Rewatchables but they generally just talk sports and pop culture and are entertaining and light hearted. If you’re looking for something more political or specific I got recs for those too

[–] [email protected] 35 points 1 month ago

There is no excuse at this point, anyone who still listens to his podcast should question it, and what others around them think of them. It's not positive...

[–] [email protected] 25 points 1 month ago

I'm shocked!!! Positively utterly and completely surprised and shocked!!! /s

[–] Red_October 24 points 1 month ago

Whaaaat? Joe Rogan likes Trump? No way! Nobody could have ever seen that coming! ^/s^

[–] Etterra 20 points 1 month ago

I mean the guy's not that bright to begin with, so this is hardly a surprise.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 1 month ago (1 children)
[–] hemmes 6 points 1 month ago

Not even Pikachu

[–] [email protected] 18 points 1 month ago

Joe Rogan, what a tosspiece

[–] morphballganon 12 points 1 month ago

This is not news.

[–] FlyingSquid 7 points 1 month ago

LOL! At the last possible moment, so it won't actually help Trump!

Meatheads gonna meathead.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

That sound you hear is red-meat-eating gamer dudes with stoic beards going off to cancel out the Swifties

[–] PugJesus 9 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Let's be real - they were always voting Trump.

[–] FlyingSquid 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Let's be real- most of them won't vote.

Just like some of those January 6th insurrectionists.

[–] Railing5132 1 points 1 month ago

I'm an election inspector. The amount of young male first time voters coming in with maga hats has been off the charts. And the number of young male voters in general is higher than I've ever seen.

[–] ChowJeeBai 1 points 1 month ago

Shit knows shit. Literally and figuratively.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago

Rogan is a first ballot hall of fame bag of shit.
