That remains to be seen... And that's why we have mods. I need a raise sigh

The actual numbers:

For every $1 given to each of the 1000 test subjects, income dropped by $0.12 cents on average. That means that the overall drop in pay was $12 per month, or less than 2 hours per month, at minimum wage.

Now, let's extrapolate more info from this:

Prior to receiving $1000 per month, the average income was $30,000 per annum , which is ~$14.42 an hour. This means that the average number of hours worked dropped less than an hour a month.

The reporting you are sharing is amazingly biased, with sensationalistic headlines determined to skew views against UBI.

Source for my numbers.

I did just that. I clearly here a je as in college at the end.

I don't like Fox or anything they stand for, but this level of hair splitting is just bad.

This is a rare exception to rule 6. Yes it's a video, but it does qualify as news.

I'd be looking to see who made the most shorting the stock.

A corrupt file wouldn't be nulled. I've never ran across a file with all zeroes that wasn't intentional.

There aren't any backbone outages right now that are being discussed. Many servers that run MANY services are on Windows, using Crowdstrike. Flights, banks, entertainment (some Netflix, for example).

The overall result: it looks like a backbone outage, but isn't.

Microsoft, Azure, and Crowdstrike have all stated the root cause at this point. Furthermore, this tells me most of the Falcon sensor installs are done bad, as we also use Crowdstrke and have ours set to "latest version - 1" to ensure this exact thing doesn't happen.

[–] JonsJava 3 points 1 week ago (5 children)

Article has been updated with the root cause - Crowdstrike. The reason is simple: Azure has tons of Windows systems that are protected with CrowdStrike Falcon. Crowdstrke released a bad version that is causing boot loops on Windows computers, including Windows VM servers.

I'll respond to you directly about why you decided to comment a month after my comment. You were given a ban in [email protected], for saying "Talk shit get shot." about someone shooting former U.S. President Trump.

Number 1, that's a rule violation of the community. Number 2, that's advocating assassination. Number 3, we are in damage control mode right now, so we are handing out 1-day bans like candy to keep on top of moderation of a thread about one of the biggest political events in many of the reader's lifetimes.

If you have a problem with that, I really don't care.

People who would sit at home and not vote may be more likely to vote. I hope every able person votes, but this may turn the tide if the other side doesn't turn out in full force.

[–] JonsJava 28 points 1 week ago

every family has crazies. With that said, we don't know who it was, their reasoning, or their political leaning.

I added some of yours to the mega thread - the ones not directly depicting death.

WHAT

  • Former U.S. President Donald J. Trump was shot at a rally in PA.

TRUMPS STATEMENT

“I want to thank The United States Secret Service, and all of Law Enforcement, for their rapid response on the shooting that just took place in Butler, Pennsylvania. Most importantly, I want to extend my condolences to the family of the person at the Rally who was killed, and also to the family of another person that was badly injured. It is incredible that such an act can take place in our Country. Nothing is known at this time about the shooter, who is now dead. I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear. I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin. Much bleeding took place, so I realized then what was happening. GOD BLESS AMERICA!”

WHAT WE THINK WE KNOW SO FAR

  • gunman is dead
  • Trump "is fine"
  • one attendee is dead
  • another attendee is in critical condition

Hello fellow Lemmys. The mod team here at [email protected] has been in discussions about the best approach to ensure we stay unbiased with news during the U.S. Election Cycle.

While we can't say "don't point out flaws in candidates" - nor would we want to - we do believe that when you excessively post/comment/reply negative things in News about one person, instead of, say mixing it up about topics, this feels like you are using [email protected] as a propaganda machine.

While propaganda is a normal part of elections, by posting only one topic, about one person, you are abusing the NEWS community for politics, and this could even be seen as election interference. There are other communities that this would fit better.

Doing this will result in posts/comments being deleted (with the option to appeal, of course). Repeat offenders may see temporary bans. Keep doing after that, and you may reach our perma-ban list.

As of right now, this only apples to politics. We don't plan to extend this to other areas, but that will change as needed.

Former President Donald Trump's campaign and businesses have provided "Significant financial benefits" to nine of the witnesses in his criminal cases, ProPublica reported Monday morning - shrugging off a threatening cease-and-desist letter sent by Trump's attorney.

The detailed report by ProPublica's Robert Faturechi, Justin Elliott, and Alex Mierjeski describes how nine individuals who have been named as witnesses received benefits that included "Large raises from his campaign, severance packages, new jobs, and a grant of shares and cash from Trump's media company" from Trump's various campaign committees and businesses.

These benefits "Often came at delicate moments in the legal proceedings against Trump," said the report, highlighting one example of Trump aide Dan Scavino, who was given a "Plum position on the board of Trump's social media company, for example, got the seat after he was subpoenaed but before he testified." Other well-known names in Trump's circle mentioned in the article include campaign adviser Boris Epshteyn, campaign head Susie Wiles, lawyer Evan Corcoran, and former Trump Org CFO Allen Weisselberg.

Salary increases, bonuses, promotions, and other benefits, can be evidence of witness tampering, the ProPublica article explained, if prosecutors can show that these employment changes occurred separate from normal business operations and the "Perks or punishments were intended to influence testimony." Even if no new charges are brought against the former president who is now a convicted felon, the details of these benefits could be used by prosecutors in Trump's still-pending cases to "Undermine the credibility" of these witnesses if the defense calls them to provide testimony helpful to Trump.

The Trump Org and various campaign entities have, of course, denied that any wrongdoing took place, and denied that Trump had knowledge or direct involvement in compensation issues.

One former aide compared working for the Trump Organization, his large company, to "a small family business" where every employee "In some sense reports to Mr. Trump." Former aides have said Trump demands unwavering loyalty from subordinates, even when their duties require independence Trump's former campaign manager and former campaign adviser were convicted on federal witness tampering charges in 2018 and 2019.

Trump posted on social media that he had read about a Georgia politician who "Will be testifying before the Fulton County Grand Jury. He shouldn't." One witness has said publicly that, when he quit working for Trump in the midst of the classified documents criminal investigation, he was offered golf tournament tickets, a lawyer paid for by Trump and a new job that would have come with a raise.

As this community continues to grow, we are noticing periods of time that moderation isn't as responsive, due to most of the moderators being asleep at that time. I'm the father of 4, and we (wife and myself) want to take a week and go camping and hiking. I've done Texas, Missouri, Arkansas, and a few other places. We moved to Iowa ~5 years ago, but have yet to hike here. Anybody have a good place to hike/camp here in Iowa?
