Immortality

Immortality seems like a good idea, but there's going to be a LONG time from when the last living thing dies out to the heat death of the universe where you'll finally join non-existance. EONs of nothing to do likely floating in a vacuum or being trapped on all sides by rock/debris. No thanks.

“Longer than you think, Dad!”

[–] bazus1 3 points 2 months ago

Be careful how you jaunt.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 2 months ago (3 children)

Don’t know if that would work as the payment is your life. You wouldn’t be around to receive it. Interesting thought experiment

[–] Arbiter 14 points 2 months ago (1 children)

This could be a new method of becoming a lich.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Lich, I said what I said
I'd rather be immortal than dead

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago

Workaround: wish to be reincarnated as an immortal.

[–] Nefara 1 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

It basically describes the idea of a digital replicant though. Your body dies but you'd have a perfect copy of your consciousness to continue on without mortal constraints.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 months ago

/mind blown

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago

How can you be immortal if you are already dead . In any case, you will become a zombie. Sounds familiar …

Free quality healthcare worldwide. If i take two people with me, can i also have a cure for Alzheimer's/dementia and affordable food that meets minimum daily requirements.

Headlines a short time later...

"GOP Proposes Banning Sacrificial Death Miracles"

AP News - Decrying the seemingly miraculous events of last week as "blatant socialism" and, rather ironically, "part of the woke agenda", house Republicans have introduced a bill that would make sacrificing ones life altruistically a felony. When asked how they planned to prosecute the rotting corpse of the accused were the bill to pass, House Speaker Mike Johnson acknowledged the steep uphill battle, stating, "we will leave no gravestone unturned when it comes preventing ordinary Americans from having God-like benevolence and generosity forced upon them against their will."

[–] Today 3 points 2 months ago

How can i upvote this more than once?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 months ago

Healthcare was my initial thought too. Especially in the US it’s used way too much as a bargaining chip/greed center. Yeah I’ll just stop living.

[–] Jf2540 2 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

I'd volunteer just for those other 2 things.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 2 months ago (1 children)

It's really a shame that we have a state in my country named Ohio, but not one named Obyeo. So that would be my wish. For my country to have an Obyeo.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Ohio: everyone leaves

Obyeo: everyone stays

[–] moistclump 2 points 2 months ago

Ohio: fly over Obyeo: tunnel under

For the world to be truly united into a democratic representative utopia. A world without war, without famine, without global warming. At the heart of all issues is, despite the fact we're all so close to each other, that we operate and behave in our own self interests or to the detriment of each other. I'd wish for all borders to be opened. Everyone to be given a unquestionable bare minimum set of human rights across the globe. Removal of diplomatic immunity and forced standardisation of laws with the goal of levelling the living standards of all people. Etc. World peace but with a foundation to keep it going I think.

[–] CarbonatedPastaSauce 10 points 2 months ago

That altruism becomes the most potent force on the planet.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 2 months ago

Yes, for a peaceful world free of war, famine, and disease.

[–] zxqwas 10 points 2 months ago

Can I wait until I'm 100 years old?

While it's a shame to waste a powerful wish I quite enjoy being alive.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 months ago

That people were magically able to understand, sympathise and accept other people's lives and lived experiences. A world where everyone was accepted as who they are, as long as it doesn't hurt anyone.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 months ago

I’d wish for all present and future humans to have much greater empathy. I think a lack of empathy is at the root of most major problems. I would happily die to fix that.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Everyone from this point forward gets to live a life at least as comfortable mine is now and humanty makes it to spread across the stars

The power to choose, just before dying, to come back to life as a healthy 30 y/o.

But you probably meant only selfless acts allowed, hence the "sacrifice" verbiage. In that case, instantaneous worldwide post-scarcity society. That'd address most of the world's ills, eventually. Being ultra-rich means nothing in post-scarcity; not needing Middle-East oil and African mineral resources would eliminate most international meddling in those locations. While it wouldn't immediately address climate change or cure all diseases, it'd mean enough food and energy for everyone, and it'd give us the means to accomplish these.

If so many of us weren't spending all our time working just to feed, clothe, and house ourselves, we could accomplish much as a species.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 months ago

Well now my wish is redundant, so... I dunno, a nice meal first?

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 months ago (2 children)

That humanity never existed and will never exist.

[–] CarbonatedPastaSauce 9 points 2 months ago

Zuckerberg lookin around like…. Where the fuck did everyone go?!?!

[–] gnomesaiyan 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Ahh, but then your wish would never happen, because you wouldn't be around to wish it in the first place.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Universal healthcare in the United States.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Just the United States? Why would you limit it like that?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago

Sorry I assume everyone else has it.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I wish to not sacrifice my life and still be granted my wish.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

That is the wish, and has the same outcome as if you didn't get a wish

I'd wish for humanity to transcend our physical form and live in a virtual world as gods.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago

It’s my wish

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

To be reincarnated as me with mutant healing ability and 17 Billion tax-free dollars in the bank.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)
[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago

Oh heavens no. I’m simply describing the state in which I wish to be reincarnated. It’s just thoroughness.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Me from roughly 5 years ago gets his dreams fulfilled
