I laughed. And then I got curious and looked it up. Kate Winslet was 22 during the filming of Titanic. Her character was 19.

I don’t see why they’d be nervous, when their performances are always lit.

I’m a Canadian, leaning left. I’m disappointed but understand it was necessary. Timing could have been better, leaving a new leader to establish themselves before federal election. My disappointment started in 2016 when he first seemed like he was back off from his election reform promises, it was the first time I felt properly disillusioned as a voter.

I’m not looking forward to the combination of conservative Canadian government and Trump presidency.

Genuine question, what about Politico?

I separated myself from my brains “mean voice”. Because they’re not normal thoughts id have about other people, but separating them out I was able to address it differently and notice that “Her” presence is a sign something else might be going on in that moment. At first I was pretty brutal with her back, but over the years I got gentler with her and came to respect that she’s trying to protect me from something (no matter how misguided). I think the real healing came from that moment I was kind and gentle with Her when She’d say the stuff she’d say, but it started with me separating herself out so I could examine it as something distinct from my Self.

I’m here as a science-fraud and lurker, and I do not know what a PI is in this context.

And of course they’re military. Canadian military, but still.

I’m a 30 year old woman who’s only really played card and puzzle games on my phone. Im considering new hobbies. Is it worth trying to get into video games for the first time. Where would I even start.

I have a wonderful senior dog and he’s my best friend. And I’m so scared of his aging. As he’s slowing down and I keep an eye out for medical issues I just can’t imagine how and when to make a call about his life.

I work all day away from home and live by myself, which was not the situation when I’d adopted him initially. I don’t have a community or friends or family around to help during the day if and when it comes to that. I can’t afford dog sitters especially not ones with training.

What if he could be fine with more support and money, should I give him back to animal rescue?

I watch a lot of late night shows and British current events shows (have I got news for you, the bugle podcast). Really wish there was something equivalent for Canada. I know there was “this hour has 22 minutes” and Rick Mercer but I don’t think they’re around any more.

Any other Canadian comedic current events options?

But according to NYT it’s not a word.

“Basement dwellers” implies parents with multi level houses. I feel like the kid living with their parents for a long time will become more of a thing but they’ll be lucky to have the privacy and space of a whole basement.

And so I say, basement dwellers? In this economy?

I enjoyed the exchange of ideas here and the way things were described and debated. Made me happy to be on Lemmy.
