In Trump’s defense, violating sacred places is one of the only things he’s actually good at

[–] fluxion 78 points 2 months ago (3 children)

He's also got quite the knack for disrespecting soldiers.

[–] [email protected] 68 points 2 months ago (1 children)

And the dead. Remember when he buried his ex wife at his golf club so it would qualify as a cemetery and get tax exempt status.

[–] [email protected] 28 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I wonder how many classified documents are buried with her?

[–] [email protected] 26 points 2 months ago (1 children)

You cant sell them if you bury them.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 2 months ago

Yeah I'm sure Trump would never excavate a grave for money.

[–] [email protected] 27 points 2 months ago

Don’t forget that he excels at cheating on wives, bankrupting businesses, and stealing money from cancer charities (among other notable achievements)

[–] P1nkman 16 points 2 months ago

Or anyone who isn't him. I think he complains that the people who changes his diaper are too rough on him.

Violating women, too

[–] Dorkyd68 23 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Violating women ✔️ Violating minorities ✔️ Violating lgbtq+ ✔️ Violating third world countries ✔️ ✅️ Violating federal and state laws ✔️ ✔️ ✔️ Being a treasonous pos while peddling Russian propaganda and their... checks notes... beans? ✔️ x's 10

Violating deceased American war heros graves???? Check ✔️ 😕

Violating the oval office worse that bill and Monica ✔️

Not to mention the many 70 something election/ fraud/ real estate crimes he has committed.

What's next? Is trump gonna break into my house and violate me? Unfortunately he already has, he's violated every single us citizen by infringing upon our rights as Americans and I'll be dammed if I'm gonna let this orange cunt into my house again, bc that's what happens if he wins, we are allowing djt into our homes, our schools, our hospitals and beyond.

My fellow dems, arm yourself, be prepared for the worst

SO SERIOUS.

This? This is the red line? Not January sixth? Or collusion with Russia? Or tax evasion? Or selling bibles he’s autographed? Or any of the federal laws he’s broken? 🙄

[–] [email protected] 91 points 2 months ago (6 children)

There's a chunk of the population for whom this is a very big deal, and it's easy to communicate what happened.

[–] [email protected] 25 points 2 months ago (3 children)

Right! This is far from the WORST thing he’s done but this plays so poorly with his god-fearing, gun-totin’ patriotism cosplayers.

It’s fine with me. Keep taking L’s donnie!

Even the politically obtuse people still honor veterans. This story breaks out of the conservative news silos and the tribal hometown bars.

Humans have honored the dead since before homo sapiens. Laws can be complicated, contradictory, and confusing; respecting the dead is clear and primal.

Yeah, this probably won't change a lot of minds, but some folks will see there is something wrong about a man who would dishonor the dead to celebrate himself.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 2 months ago

I really love how you phrased this

"You gotta remember that these are just simple farmers. These are people of the land. The common clay of the new west. You know. Morons."

[–] [email protected] 26 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Every little bit helps

Also it helps that he’s going progressively off the rails as time goes on, so his reaction to getting caught for this stuff is getting less and less hinged month by month

I think that most Americans, regardless of political affiliation and regardless of how they feel about the various wars we've been in over the centuries, find the idea of using our honored dead as political props profoundly offensive. I personally hope that this is the red line finally and the bastard can start facing some real consequences.

[–] GlendatheGayWitch 21 points 2 months ago (1 children)

It very well could be the line among his supporters who are members of the armed forces, veterans, and their families.

They might have overlooked all the scandals and outrageous things through his campaigns, presidency, and sedition, but this is where many of them have buried their spouses, grandparents, family, and friends.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Currently seeing it happen, buddies who had overlooked issues in the past have started to look at him negatively. Before it was “he has always treated us right.” Now they might write in Rand Paul.

Just another example that in Trump world only one thing counts: Trump. There are no principles . America does not come first. It’s really just him. Incredible how people can vote for someone like that.

The media for the last eight years should just be running a weekly column called "This time Trump went too far and now his supporters will turn on him" and then they can just recap Trump's actions from the previous week. Meanwhile his poll numbers will remain exactly the same as always.

[–] A_Random_Idiot 14 points 2 months ago (3 children)

Thats assuming the media (especially the broadcast media..) reports on what he did truthfully and with the full details.

Which they rarely, if ever, do.

because they have a vested financial and ratings based interest in the chaos he creates, because it drives ratings and enriches them.

So is this one making it on Network News or is it all online?

[–] [email protected] 29 points 2 months ago (5 children)

Online only. News networks are all in Trump's pocket.

[–] running_ragged 26 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

Its there. But nothing in the headline about who or what or why it matters. Just enough to be able to say they didn’t bury it.

[–] [email protected] 25 points 2 months ago

Seriously, it's hard to be less informative than that headline.

"Trump Breaks Federal Law By Shooting Campaign Commercial in Arlington Cemetery"...

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 months ago

Weird 34 knows the media loves him for the ads and headlines his name and behavior sells. They're complicit in that they want the gravy train to never run dry. Don't reward them. Change the channel, click away, or scroll elsewhere.

Do Americans know the history of Arlington? I was quite amazed to learn how it became a military cemetery. Not hanging Robert Lee and the other high-ranking traitors is perhaps the biggest single mistake in US history. He is still the highest ranking US soldier to ever betray his country, no?

[–] Stovetop 19 points 2 months ago

I think Benedict Arnold was a higher rank, but I guess it depends on if the US counted as a "country" at that time. Lee was a colonel when he betrayed the US and became a general under the Confederacy, while Arnold was a general at the time he betrayed the US.

And when you're a maga they'll let you do it. Thumbs up in the graveyard, insurrection in the Capitol, you can do anything.

[–] xenoclast 11 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

No shit, right? It's not just Trump. There's a whole lotta people there. Completely free from consequences, every single one.

You can see why, as much damage as they do, how appealing it is to live a life like that. Fuck the living, fuck the dead, fuck the future. Just do whatever you want.

[–] paddirn 28 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Pretty sure if he hasn't been busted for the classified documents thing, he's getting off scot-free for this one too.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 2 months ago

I think the main impact will be to convince a modest but significant slice of voters to not vote for him.

That place is full of LOSERS and SUCKERS! WHO CARES?

-Patriotic Republicans!

[–] Dorkyd68 25 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (4 children)

Ya know what's a very telling sign that his marriage is in shambales? The fact that Melina never, and I mean never appears next to him on the campaign trails. Hell none of his shit stain sons even show up. What's up Eric, shit stain jr and "barron" trump? Too busy doing blow off of high end escorts to show up??? Djt wouldn't know family values if it slapped him in the face

And before anyone attacks me for bringing barron into this, he did it to himself

[–] Boddhisatva 23 points 2 months ago (3 children)

Here's another indication of the state of their marriage.

His cultists don't give a fuck. They don't give a fuck about anything. He didn't lose any votes here

[–] [email protected] 22 points 2 months ago (1 children)

He also appears to have sold nuclear secrets to the Russians, which also sounds sort of important or something.

one of America’s most sacred places.

What did he do to the Bass Pro Shop Pyramyd?

[–] cheese_greater 19 points 2 months ago

Thats what violators do. Nothing is sacred except them

[–] Treczoks 19 points 2 months ago

And he fucking does not care about it. According to him, the people buried there are "losers", in case you have forgotten.

[–] JustZ 18 points 2 months ago

You know those videos of people talking on their cell phones during the changing of the guards at Arlington, or videos of total, antisocial assholes fucking with the sentry? Those are Trump voters.

They also litter all the time. Every time I see a car throw some giant bag of convenience store food wrappers out the window there's MAGA bullshit all over it.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 2 months ago

I wish it were serious. It's not, because Republicans did it.
