Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. 3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. 4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

They spent decades stacking the courts to dictate the rule of law and make any of their actions nice and legal.

They spent decades establishing a propaganda machine so support wouldn't wain as they upgrade the dog whistles to dog sirens and implement a Christian Fascism dictatorship.

Why anyone is surprised by this is the deeply troubling part.

[–] cmbabul 37 points 8 months ago

I mean it’s not the only deeply troubling part, but having grown up attending many youth oriented religious events that constantly preached stacking the courts, electing strong Christian leaders, and generally ‘taking back America for Jesus’, I’m not surprised at all but I am terrified

There are traitors running the federal fucking government

[–] Fedizen 31 points 8 months ago

Another blaring conflict of interest has struck the supreme court.

Good thing there’s a well regulated militia under the impression that it’s raison d’être is to prevent a malicious government.

Edit: is

[–] [email protected] 4 points 8 months ago

Sorry. Closest we've got is the John Brown Gun Club.

[–] Fedizen 4 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

did you say "prevent" instead of "support"?

Thanks,

-the militia

How is that a “house owned by Justice Alito” not “Justice Alito’s house”?

[–] [email protected] 26 points 8 months ago

He doesn't live in the beach house year round. He was there when the flag was flying though.

[–] charles 19 points 8 months ago (1 children)

He probably has multiple houses

[–] [email protected] 7 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Does that make it not his house?

[–] charles 9 points 8 months ago (3 children)

If it's a rental property, you would own it but maybe not consider it "your house" colloquially

[–] [email protected] 3 points 8 months ago (1 children)

It wouldn’t be your home. It would still be your house.

[–] charles 1 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Ok? I'm not defending this shit bag, just trying to explain the weird headline phrasing.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Who’s accusing you of defending him?

[–] charles 0 points 8 months ago (1 children)

You're being weirdly pedantic about everything here. I'm trying to figure out why.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 8 months ago

Keep trying. I won’t devolve to name calling. Have a nice day.

No way he's flying his own flag on a rental property. That'd be insane. As a landlord, I can tell you none of my tenants the past 10+ years would have ever allowed for something like that.

[–] charles 4 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

That'd be insane

My guy that's the point of this whole post. He's insane.

[–] [email protected] 22 points 8 months ago

Alito should move to fucking Russia and take all the MAGATs with him.

Ye Olde Americans: The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure.

Contemptorary Americans: Voting will fix everything despite every election for many decades seeing us slide further to the right regardless of who wins.

[–] Brunbrun6766 -1 points 8 months ago (2 children)

What do you suggest then smart guy.

Like the founding fathers wanted

[–] SupraMario -1 points 8 months ago

Gotta be ok with the 2nd for that to work, unfortunately most of my fellow lefties would rather it be abolished and allow the state to have the monopoly on force

How much does he weigh, and how sturdy is that flagpole? I’m just asking questions

[–] [email protected] 12 points 8 months ago (1 children)

I miss when we would publicly eliminate insurrectionists.

[–] mojofrododojo 3 points 8 months ago

if there had been an ounce of melanin in that crowd, it would have been a blood bath.

[–] Suavevillain 11 points 8 months ago

It sucks nothing will be done about this. Dude should be removed.

[–] Zess 9 points 8 months ago

So, yeah. AP says the Times has 3 pictures. Where that at? Where's the evidence and WTF is an Appeal to Heaven Flag?

[–] ultranaut 17 points 8 months ago

https://www.nytimes.com/2024/05/22/us/justice-alito-flag-appeal-to-heaven.html

NYT has multiple pictures. It's a formerly forgotten Revolutionary War era flag that's been adopted by extremists trying to overthrow the US government and establish a Christian theocracy.
