Donald Trump has tapped three of his longstanding celebrity supporters – Mel Gibson, Jon Voight and Sylvester Stallone – to purportedly make Hollywood “stronger than ever before” as “special ambassadors” to the movie capital.

The president-elect announced the new appointments, whose duties remain unclear, on Truth Social on Thursday, four days before his inauguration. “It is my honor to announce Jon Voight, Mel Gibson, and Sylvester Stallone, to be Special Ambassadors to a great but very troubled place, Hollywood, California,” he wrote.

“They will serve as Special Envoys to me for the purpose of bringing Hollywood, which has lost much business over the last four years to Foreign Countries, BACK—BIGGER, BETTER, AND STRONGER THAN EVER BEFORE! These three very talented people will be my eyes and ears, and I will get done what they suggest. It will again be, like The United States of America itself, The Golden Age of Hollywood!”

He's off to a great start pretending to be a 'president' again. He has no idea what a President does or how to manage an entire country. America voted for an idiot 2 times. The con man will do nothing to make america 'great'.

They didn't vote for him the first time, and they didn't vote the second time.

[–] Omegamanthethird 10 points 1 week ago

Technically he still didn't win a majority of the vote a single time.

Holy shit... this isn't an Onion article?

[–] FiremanEdsRevenge 40 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Sounds to me like they want to make propaganda films.

[–] RagingRobot 12 points 1 week ago

I think he wanted Goebbels too

It sounds to me like the dying gasp of a cocaine-fueled homerotic roadtrip in California somewhere.

Gibson, who recently lost his home in the Los Angeles wildfires, told Variety that he had learned of his new position through Trump’s social media. “I got the tweet at the same time as all of you and was just as surprised.

LOL what?! So Gibson didn't even know this was going to be a thing?

Trump is consistent if nothing else. He really loves stupid and crazy people.

[–] JeeBaiChow 6 points 1 week ago

They make him look good and normal.

Well. Not exactly.

[–] goodthanks 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Stupid? Would a stupid man star in Baby Geniuses 2? I'll just leave this here. youtube.com/watch?v=sT3coep3EW0

There was a moment they normalized the ass hat. I really think Vic intentionally (or unknowingly) it.

[–] DBT 25 points 1 week ago

Mel Gibson is mostly known these days for being super racist, which is why this announcement is not surprising at all.

[–] [email protected] 20 points 1 week ago

I'm expecting him to announce they're bringing Seagal back from Russia.

[–] WilhelmStroker 18 points 1 week ago

Yep that will definitely bring down the price of eggs.

[–] kromem 15 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Oh yay, McCarthyism is coming back too!

[–] Cosmonauticus 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

When exactly did it leave? Communist just got replaced with something else

[–] PalmTreeIsBestTree 2 points 1 week ago (2 children)

It got replaced with wokeism

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago

Oh, you mean not being an asshole?

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Trump has the Midas touch, for pointing out shitty people.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 week ago

The Mierdas touch, as some day

[–] MimicJar 1 points 1 week ago

He really does, I was 0/2 and then saw Stallone and thought "oh shit, I missed something".

[–] Treczoks 12 points 1 week ago

I don't think the biggest problem of Hollywood is the lack of Republican meddling.

And it shows that only Hollywoods has-beens are rooting for Donald.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I thought that Stallone was a pretty decent guy, did I miss anything?

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Yeah, everything about Stallone

[–] BleatingZombie 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I'm out of the loop on pretty much everything to do with celebrities. Was there something big?

[–] MJKee9 2 points 1 week ago

He loves Trump.... Whether that is "big" or not depends on you, i guess.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Everything...? That is not helpful

[–] Chip_Rat 1 points 1 week ago

He called Trump "the second George Washington", otherwise spent years "staying out of politics" but also making sure to pretend he isn't Republican by saying "people think I'm Republican because of Rocky and Rambo."

Surprise. Was Republican.

You get to decide if supporting Trump is a deal breaker. It sure should be. (Unless you are an enemy of the USA or a Billionaire)

Source: Googled it just now. Feel free to add or correct.

I knew Gibson was shitty but these two are news to me

[–] AbidanYre 9 points 1 week ago

Voight has been famously shitty for a long time. I'm surprised James Woods wasn't on this list.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 week ago

.... is this just for optics or some sort of play at media control?

[–] drunkpostdisaster 7 points 1 week ago

I wish mell would have stayed home.

[–] MeaanBeaan 6 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Cant wait for the US government to subsidize the production of The Expendables 2025 starring Donald Trump and a band of old fuckers nobody cares about anymore saving an election from being stolen by some racist charicature.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 week ago

I hope Gibson ends up in a rack, Voight in a K car, and Stallone in an F1 car he can't drive.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 week ago

I saw this earlier and thought it was satire. What in the fuck!?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 week ago

Voight is still alive? Huh.

[–] Snapz 4 points 1 week ago

NO! Not the three most talented and in demand actors in the world! These guys just ooze charisma, audiences will be lining up to agree with the important and valid opinions illustrated in their well produced and even WELLER written films!!! The kids are gonna be doing flossing to this now!

[–] jpreston2005 4 points 1 week ago

Huh, mcCarthyism 2.0.

This time, it's even DUMBER

[–] ilickfrogs 4 points 1 week ago

yeesh, this doom hole keeps getting deeper

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago

What a blowhard. And when he's done blowing Putin, I'll bet his face looks like a housepainter's radio.

[–] Treczoks 2 points 1 week ago

Scraping the bottom of the barrel of has-beens to find someone willing to work for him. I think that says a lot about Donald the Jester (of King Elon).
