Well it's photoshopped with an image of a different cat with a probable eye infection. Not a lot better.

I mean. It doesn't have to be scarier than those things to be worthy of fear. A tiger isn't necessarily any scarier than a lion. Doesn't mean I'm not scared of a tiger mauling me if it got its claws on me

Unless you have a Sony phone or an LG V series phone. The DACs on those are incredible (for phones at least)

His speech made me tear up a little and I have absolutely no dog in this race whatsoever. The fuck is wrong with people?

Technically it's 1280x800 which is 720p but slightly taller. While saying it has an 800p display would technically be correct it doesn't provide context for the actual resolution of the display since it's only half of the full description of the resolution and there's no widely agreed upon "800p" resolution. 720p has a coded understanding for how sharp a display is among tech knowledgable people. 800p has no such history. So while saying the steam deck has a 720p display may not be technically correct its actually a much more useful descriptor as most people understand how sharp that display is going to be.

Technically this "1080p" display isn't even 1080p. Its 1920x1200 but it has the same pixel density as a similarly sized 1080p 16:9 display. So we say 1080. 4k is also not 4000 pixels. Its 3840x2160

Edit: Apparently the decksite is actually a 16:9 1080p display. I had assumed it kept the aspect ratio of the deck itself. It evidently does not.

Yeah it's a huge pain in the ass to replace the screen too.

The game looks incredible and I'm really pumped for it.

My one qualm with it though is the CD changer. If this takes place in the far future those discs would have succumbed to disc rot ages ago. Unless they had some future reproduction run of CDs. Which I guess isn't entirely out of the question.

The only answer they should have to provide is "because we wanted to and anyone who has a problem with that can go fuck themselves."

I mean. Most of the article is devoted to addressing this exact question. Before, it was just about making games playable on modern computers. This is about preserving games for the long term and making sure things are compatible with machines far into the future. The distinction may be a minor one but there is a difference in what this is vs. what they've been doing in the past. In fact this initiative is being worked towards because of their past experience in preserving games not separate from it.

Jesus Christ, don't give them ideas!
