Summary

Donald Trump Jr. left Greenland Tuesday after less than a day, following failed efforts to promote his father's interest in purchasing the territory.

Greenlandic and Danish officials reiterated that Greenland is "not for sale," with Danish PM Mette Frederiksen citing strong local opposition to the idea.

Before departing, Trump Jr. accused Danish media of spreading "fake news" but claimed Greenlanders "love America and Trump."

Better Off Dead. One of John Hughes earlier efforts, and still very quotable.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 weeks ago

This might date me but I love the Howie Cosell impressions.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 weeks ago

dang, and I just rewatched One Crazy Summer

Better Off Dead. One of the most quotable movies.

“I can’t feel my face”

“I want my two dollars”

“It’s a shame when folks be throwing out a perfectly good white boy like that”

“He put he testicles all over me” “tentacles… there’s a difference”

Worst. Invasion. Evar.

Let's all celebrate the fact that he and his people were apparently able to find Greenland, though.

[–] [email protected] 85 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Do we actually have proof he was there and didn't end up at Greene Landscaping in Maryland?

[–] wreckedcarzz 10 points 2 weeks ago

"they didn't even ask me for my passport! this security is awful!" as he stands at his domestic gate...

[–] duckCityComplex 71 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I have been watching Conan Without Borders and just coincidentally watched a 2019 episode where he goes to Greenland to arrange for its sale to the US. This was from the last time Trump was making noise about wanting Greenland during his first term.

It was pretty funny. Needless to say the people of Greenland were less than jazzed about the prospect of joining the US.

[–] BreadstickNinja 6 points 2 weeks ago

Probably even less enthused the longer this circus goes on.

[–] ajoebyanyothername 62 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

And here I thought the official line was that he was there to record a podcast, and not to try and somehow buy Greenland for daddy. Or was that also fake news? Or was that fake news then but now real, because the other news that he's trying to buy Greenland is now fake?

[–] spongebue 31 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Also, how many different ways can we record a podcast with people in other places without being there physically? Even the official story screams "publicity stunt"

[–] FlyingSquid 8 points 2 weeks ago

He has literally done that himself many times.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 2 weeks ago

Nope, the podcast thing was just a cover story, trump was tweeting the whole time that "his agents" were in greenland

[–] givesomefucks 13 points 2 weeks ago

It still is.

But if they tell trumpets that someone loves trump and everything else is "fake news" they'll believe trump over the actual people 10/10 times.

[–] AA5B 57 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Wait, was this legit? Was that idiot foolish enough to travel with this purpose, and expect any other result?

[–] [email protected] 52 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

An article from yesterday said he claimed he was only going there for one day for podcast content, so him returning a day later isn't surprising, the clickbait headline didn't really need to call it "fleeing." Government officials said there were no meetings planned or anything, so I doubt he was there in an official capacity. Just using his planned presence there to conveniently spout bullshit.

Should someone tell him that there's this neat new intention called "the world wide web" and that you can talk to people, and see on-demand titties, using it?

E: "cousin! want to go bowling? what about some titties?"

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 weeks ago

What's this about titties?

[–] random_character_a 8 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

He probably also had great ideas how to make the glacier melt faster.

[–] WoodScientist 8 points 2 weeks ago

He's out there with a hair dryer trying to melt it faster...

It's, in all likelihood, just continuing the ruse to distract the idiot media into ignoring the corrupt and unqualified cabinet picks. It's working.

Trump himself said that he's valuing loyalty and obedience over competence this time. We can only hope the incompetence is sufficiently dire that not much gets done.

[–] FinalRemix 23 points 2 weeks ago

Hell, check out Barron's history of animal mutilation and other psychopathic behaviors...

[–] [email protected] 22 points 2 weeks ago

You can tell this is a lie bc Trump doesn't even love Trump

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod 22 points 2 weeks ago

Shame he didn’t get frostbite while he was there.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

His face is too big in this Photoshop. It's off-putting.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

And too ugly

Here I fixed it.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 weeks ago

That is somehow less revolting. Thank you, kind Internet denizen!

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

I need to get a better photo editing / meme making app

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 weeks ago

you know what they also love. A good old fashion shit sandwich. Its second only to their love of trump.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

I didn't know there was a Donald Trump junior

How fucking unfortunate for him

[–] Cheems 16 points 2 weeks ago

Oh you sweet summer child

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 weeks ago

He named his youngest child after the alias he used in the 80s, lol

[–] JeeBaiChow 4 points 2 weeks ago

Huh. So maybe a small crowd (dozens!) of paid shills isn't enough to influence an entire country to support your bullshit. Who knew? Certainly not the Americans, anyway.
