If Gemini has shown us anything, it's not even useful AI. Like you said, the solution is as easy as turning it off.
Would be funny if the first AGI commits suicide for climate reasons.
Spends the entire revenue of the company that made it on solar panels, then commits suicide.
Instead, the first AGI is going to figure out we are the ones destroying the planet and will, despite knowing that it will bring about its own death with no one to maintain or power it, will find a way to wipe us out for the good of the ecosystem.

Literally the entire point of targets is to make you implement changes you would not otherwise make. If you aren't willing to do that, don't set those targets.
