RULES (updated 01/22/25)

  1. Be respectful: no harassment, hate speech, bigotry, and/or trolling. To be concise, disrespect is defined by escalation.
  2. Encourage conversation in your OP. This means including heavily implicative subject matter when you can and also engaging in your thread when possible. You won't be punished for trying.
  3. Avoid controversial topics (politics or societal debates come to mind, though we are not saying not to talk about anything that resembles these). There's a guide in the protocol book offered as a mod model that can be used for that; it's vague until you realize it was made for things like the rule in question. At least four purple answers must apply to a "controversial" message for it to be allowed.
  4. Keep it clean and SFW: No illegal content or anything gross and inappropriate. A rule of thumb is if a recording of a conversation put on another platform would get someone a COPPA violation response, that exact exchange should be avoided when possible.
  5. No solicitation such as ads, promotional content, spam, surveys etc. The chart redirected to above applies to spam material as well, which is one of the reasons its wording is vague, as it applies to a few things. Again, a "spammy" message must be applicable to four purple answers before it's allowed.
  6. Respect privacy as well as truth: Don’t ask for or share any personal information or slander anyone. A rule of thumb is if something is enough info to go by that it "would be a copyright violation if the info was art" as another group put it, or that it alone can be used to narrow someone down to 150 physical humans (Dunbar's Number) or less, it's considered an excess breach of privacy. Slander is defined by intentional utilitarian misguidance at the expense (positive or negative) of a sentient entity. This often links back to or mixes with rule one, which implies, for example, that even something that is true can still amount to what slander is trying to achieve, and that will be looked down upon.

going to college :( we had this weird system where you go to internship for mon-fri and study in sat-sun. they say it's important to gain industry experience. so as a result I don't get any weekend which sucks!

[–] Today 1 points 8 months ago

I had one similar - in clinic MWF, in class TRSa. Makes for a long semester. I'm sorry you don't get even one day of freedom.

Going to see two movies in the cinema; The Watchers saturday afternoon, sunday is Interstellar (classic movie). I’ve got an unlimited movie pass and usually see about three movies per week. This one’s a slow one; not many new releases.

Apart from that, I’m going to squeeze in a bit of photography. Need to test out a new tilt-shift lens that I got this week.

All in all, going to be a fun weekend.

Have fun & stay safe! Those always look like great events. Sadly, never been to one myself, though we do have a huge one every year in Amsterdam.

You're looking at it.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Cooking, beer, gaming, walks, maybe even trying to be social. No idea what to cook, though.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 8 months ago

Hellsyea..... Creativity comes from constraint, so perhaps try making something with what sits in one single floor in your fridge/pantry

[–] [email protected] 7 points 8 months ago

I have some family visiting so I'm looking forward to catching up!

[–] Droggelbecher 7 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Finally rest. I'm exhausted. I'll be in bed watching cartoons!

[–] FollyDolly 4 points 8 months ago

Same. Gonna sleep and then lay in bed with my Switch and play with some digital Legos!

[–] Sneakyweasel90 6 points 8 months ago

Just finished my 3rd term of first year programming. Having a couple close classmates over for a bbq and drinks. I dont have to look at my computer and study like crazy anymore.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 8 months ago

Finishing all the assignments as I'm approaching the end of the semester. I have 3 due next week 🥲

[–] [email protected] 5 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

Initially I was going to a birthday party on Saturday but unfortunately that was cancelled because of illness. So instead I'm going to play board games with friends.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 8 months ago (1 children)

We just finished building a chicken coop and have 5 beautiful little chickens now! We're probably gonna spend some time in our back yard cleaning up the coop, letting the chickens roam the yard, and gardening.

We got invited to a friend's house for a pool party, so we will probably hit that up. Family is in town from out of state, so we will probably have to rendezvous with them at some point (not really looking forward to that).

I'm hoping to have some time to grind FFXIV before the new expansion comes out. I'm a few quests away from finishing Shadowbringer - I have less than 20 days until the release of Dawntrail and I'm pretty sure I'm not gonna be done with End walker by then, womp womp. Looking forward to the new classes and the graphics update.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 8 months ago

Ah, it's that kind of family. Well there's often a silver lining. I hope you find it

[–] [email protected] 5 points 8 months ago

I'll be trying to fix a leak in a small motor boat.

[–] MisterNeon 5 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Trying not to think about life and the future while being mostly isolated.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 8 months ago

It's actually a pretty good strategy to focus on the present moment. The "T", asymptote of time passing. Helps clear the mind in a way procrastination never will

[–] [email protected] 5 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Grandma and big sister are taking the kids so we are going to go freaking wild in bed. Then I guess we just have to kill 47 hours and 45 minutes.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Lmao. Get creative ! take out the icecubes and prolong that intermingling !

[–] [email protected] 3 points 8 months ago (1 children)

I understate because I don't know the community that well. We're blowing the dust off the ropes and floggers and paddles.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

Oooh, nice. Perfect time to break out the old lego SaturnV !

[–] [email protected] 5 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Lie in bed and recover from getting covid.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 8 months ago

Wishing you a speedy recovery, friend.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 8 months ago (1 children)

I have a lot of errands and chores I need to do. But I'll probably spend enough time playing KSP that I can't get it all done. Adulthood!

[–] [email protected] 2 points 8 months ago

Damn I miss being an adult

[–] BonesOfTheMoon 4 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Taking my aunt for Father's Day lunch because she is both mother and father to me.

Also I quit Facebook and Instagram and don't use any other big social media, and it's amazing how less itchy my brain feels.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Good on you !! Did the same a week ago. It's amazing how much lighter I feel. Don't have to deal with random flatearthers anymore

Have a chill saturday

[–] BonesOfTheMoon 2 points 8 months ago

I'm a bit sorry because I enjoyed the sovereign citizen groups I'm in for the laughs, but it's nice to disconnect. You too!

[–] [email protected] 4 points 8 months ago

Firing up the grill for Father's Day and inviting over both sets of parents; will have 4 generations together <3

Will likely throw some wood on the coals after to roast marshmallows and make s'mores for dessert :)

[–] [email protected] 4 points 8 months ago

Wife's birthday tomorrow, we're done cleaning the house and she'll be cooking well into the night. I'll be her kitchen aide... I think we're having around 20 people over... that's a lot of food...

[–] [email protected] 3 points 8 months ago

I got a lot. We have company coming over Saturday, but the house is not really ready for them.

They’re cool, though. So long as the house is passable, it’ll be fine. And it’ll be good to see folks.

I have to finish setting up a gazebo tonight, planning for entertaining (refreshments), and am hoping this weekend to do a bit more work on a fence that I’m (too slowly) building around our back yard.

[–] Today 3 points 8 months ago

Cooking for friends tonight to celebrate their 35th anniversary, plus one's retiring. Father's Day activities tomorrow. Invited to in-law event Sunday....

I'm in the middle of a livingroom remodel. This weekend, the plan is to fix the leak in the roof, rebuild thr staircase to match modern codes, and install the new hvac ducts. If time permits, I'd like to start hanging drywall, but I know thats a stretch. I want to get the room done by the 4th, and I'm not sure if I'll make it.

[–] BugleFingers 3 points 8 months ago (1 children)

I'm visiting a relative Saturday. I have work off until Thursday next week but unfortunately as much as I'd like it to not be the case, I have no plans really otherwise.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 8 months ago (1 children)

That's one long ass-weekend

[–] BugleFingers 2 points 8 months ago

Yep! I'm currently training a coworker and we have Wednesday off, he took Monday and Tuesday off so I followed suit. I really don't get a choice to take my vacation time while he is training, so I figured I'd join in on the long weekend.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 8 months ago

Project Zomboid with some friends. We have a pretty fun going on - instead of the usual playstyle of setting up a base, we're vehicle based and highly mobile.

[–] captainlezbian 2 points 8 months ago

Going out for pride events with friends

[–] [email protected] 2 points 8 months ago

I'm going to the euros! Otherwise I'm watching the other games in the euros!

[–] MrNesser 2 points 8 months ago

Same thing we do every week pinky

[–] whotookkarl 1 points 8 months ago

Usually I do errands like charging my car, grocery, etc Saturday morning. Other than that it's the first weekend off after a couple on call so just low key; start red dead 2, read more of Blood Meridian, play some guitar working through Rob Thorpe's metal books.
