Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

He must not be getting enough attention. It's been, what? A week since Musk had his name in the news. It must have been killing him.

The fact that 1 single person gets to decide arbitrarily who is or isn't allowed to voice bullshit 'facts' on a worldwide medium that is copy-pasted by every newsagency and newspaper as if it is a main and legit source of actual news is just very very wrong.

I mean, the poll was almost definitely bullshit but in theory over a million people also voted for it

I don't doubt there are still way over a million idiots on TwitX.

On the other hand, I don't believe him on anything.

Russian bots 👌

It's not hard at all to believe there's a million Alex Jones fans who voted. He used to be really popular

Anything to prevent the userbase from shrinking...

[–] TropicalDingdong 88 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Nope. Its about platforming a rightwing movement that the funders of the buyout can use to take control of the American body politic.

[–] WhatAmLemmy 11 points 11 months ago

Remember how he lost a poll asking if he should step down?

He only follows through when he agrees with the outcome, just like he only supports free speech if he agrees with the speech... He would've brought Jones back either way, because he wants Jones on the platform.

Do you ever wish that you could delete your twitter account again? Once isn't enough.

It's like letting out the mutineers to help throw buckets of water out of the sinking ship. It's still going to sink and you will drown surrounded by terrible people.

I've never heard this phrase and I love it

If you have an account on that site and are actively engaging with the site, you are directly helping / supporting Musk and his racist bullshit.

Delete that shit (like reddit btw!!) and stay the fuck away.

Surely this will win back all of the advertisers uncomfortable with what a cesspool of bigotry and conspiracy theories Xitter has become.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 11 months ago

It won't. And stop calling me, "Surely". ;-)

“Look over here! I’m relevant! Come to my website! I need the viewers and money from the advertisers! I’m still here! I’m going to keep doing extreme things so people talk about me and come to my website!”

Elon is the most divorced guy who has ever existed. He’s gonna get thrown out of a little league game for yelling at the 12 year-old umpire soon.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Elon Musk has restored the X account of Alex Jones, the Infowars founder who was permanently banned from the platform formerly known as Twitter more than five years ago.

Jones, a far-right commentator best known for pushing the conspiracy theory that the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting was a hoax, returned to the website on Sunday and reposted a number of celebratory messages.

Since Musk bought X in October 2022, he has restored a number of prominent banned accounts, including those belonging to Donald Trump, Andrew Tate, and Kanye West.

But until December 7, Musk had refused to consider restoring Jones' account despite his purported commitment to free speech on the platform.

Citing Jones' views on the Sandy Hook shooting, Musk said last year he had "no mercy for anyone who would use the deaths of children for gain, politics, or fame."

Twitter ultimately banned Jones in September 2018, saying his tweets and videos violated the company's "abusive behavior policy."

The original article contains 325 words, the summary contains 161 words. Saved 50%. I'm a bot and I'm open source!

BREAKING NEWS:

Alex Jones changes his name to X-Jones and rebrands his business as XxINFOWARSxX in honor of his good buddy Elon Musk who definitely isn't one of the elite, baby blood drinking, adrenochrome injecting, psyop running, reptilian overlords who burns effigies of Moloch while hangs out with his best buds at Bohemian Grove every summer.
