Holy jesus fuck we're doomed.

argued that “a lot of the work” done by probationary employees at the CDC “is duplicitous with AI.”
Holy jesus fuck we're doomed.
Right wing politicians operate on leverage.
These people gave them the keys in exchange for hearing what they wanted.
They no longer have leverage as far as the politician is concerned, so he's done telling them what they want to hear.
History repeats again
It would be nice to have the ablity to trigger a representative recall
May he face a local peaceful January 6th style protest from his base soon.
Oh bullshit. Next election they’ll line up and vote red down the ballot just like they always do. They’re fools & cowards.
So I wonder how many of these angry voters were Republicans.
Because it's clear that absolutely nothing will change while R voters continue to cheer Trump on.
BUT ALSO:
I love that they quoted this bit. Of course this motherfucker is stupid enough to say AI can replace CDC jobs; he doesn't even know the meaning of the words he's using. Though duplicitous is a great word for Republicans to learn, since it describes every last fucking one.
McCormick — who recently made headlines when he suggested that children taking part in school lunch programs “sponge off the government” — argued that “a lot of the work” done by probationary employees at the CDC “is duplicitous with AI.”
It's like they all had anemia and forget that Trump was running the country into the he ground pre-COVID. But COVID gave them all something to "own the libs" while millions of them claimed their Darwin Award. Not sure how any of them could truly believe he was going to do better for them this time around, when this time they even released their game plan ( Project 2025) before the election.
Royally pissed?
Meanwhile NBC brought this up then showed footage of people clapping at this asshats town hall. Totally trying play it has if everyone was happy and agreed with what he was saying.
Good! Get mad and in their faces! Let them know their jobs are at stake as well here. Let them know you are mad at their actions, and shame them for selling the American people like that.
The problem is that for most of them, the next step is to vote them right back into office.
Anger without action is irrelevant.
They don't care how angry people are because they know they will do nothing other than complain.
Waaahhh!! They got what they wanted. I wonder how many of these people are part of the 65% that voted in this pile of garbage...
Probably a handful. But 35% of a congressional district is (in the lowest population district, which this one isn't) is 190,780 people. You can easily get a small town community center full of people who voted against him and didn't ask for any of this.
Fair enough.
They got exactly what they voted for, and now they complain? Idiots.
So you... don't want anyone to confront Republicans?
They can confront their local head idiot as much as they like. They could hang him from the next tree, if they want. They still are the root cause of the problem, though.
We need to embrace the people that are realizing they have made a mistake instead of vilifying them. We are all in this nightmare together and the only way out is for the rational to work together.
So we should embrace people who f=ing caused that? Them realizing they made a mistake will not matter if the current government will make voting against them even harder or even impossible.
A better approach would be to give them safe harbor.
If they feel they will be forever cast adrift, who do you think they'll vote for next time?
What do you suggest we do then?
Can't share your optimism. I believe there is one strong bond that unifies what we now call Republicans and it's a frightened pathetic hateful bigotry. Even when our goals might happen to align on details like this, I will never stand by their side. Fuck them, fuck them, fuck them.
If we can’t unite as a rational citizenry then we have no chance at making things better. We are all angry but if you want to fix it you have to start somewhere. I’d say the people that were trapped in propaganda cycles and are now realizing it are a really good place to start.
If they did all that, they'd be part of the solution. Surely that matters?
Are you sure they voted for him? Georgia, especially that area, is kinda purple.
His district was 65-35, so not very purple.
You know in most elections slightly less than half of the voters voted for the other candidate, right?
That is a problem in democracy deficit countries like the US, yes.
If you know it then why are you being a dick?
I guess good for them for getting pissed, but you fucking jerk offs voted for this.
this ai will fix everything line. ai can help increase productivity but places have been understaffed so severely before it that there is no real room to get savings. at best it could bring quality back up to somewhat decent using 2023 staffing levels.
"Yeah, but what if add in quantum computing?" -redcap politico, probably
