or if the condoms were parte of the plan

Ding ding ding, this is the best possible thing. The other that it's complete made up

Knowing how the conservative club communicates, I'm oretty sure that st best there was a $250 dollar pack of condooms in there. Leaving out details like "it was 0.1% of the package, 99.9% wre different items" is just normal business practice for the Republican party

Right wing social media comments, "Think last, shoot off mouth first"

[–] [email protected] 3 points 20 hours ago

"Think? No one has time for that!"

[–] Maalus 2 points 20 hours ago

Not made up 99% certain. Gaza used to have a huge problem with birth control pills being sent to them by governments. Like ludicrous amounts. They'd expire and they didn't have a way to safely utilize them (it's basically hormones, cannot dump it in the sea or whatever)

[–] LovableSidekick 4 points 18 hours ago* (last edited 18 hours ago)

"Our team concluded that the most effective birth control is being a frustrated loner and jerking off."

[–] SocialMediaRefugee 6 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

Seeing as they would prefer that the Palestinians disappear I'd think they'd be 110% in favor of condoms for them.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 18 hours ago

It's MAGA. Why do you expect joined-up thinking from them?

[–] SocialMediaRefugee 5 points 21 hours ago

If these were military spec condoms then based on DOD bidding a pack could've cost a million dollars.

[–] MrJameGumb 210 points 1 day ago (6 children)

The DOGE found that there were $50 million dollars of tax money going to Gaza. Some small part of that apparently has to do with condoms, so they're using it as justification that all government grant programs should be halted immediately. This will effect people's jobs, schools, and numerous other programs beneficial to the American public, but it's ok because they stopped the condoms

[–] SocialMediaRefugee 5 points 21 hours ago

It probably included sexual health in the human health package so they latched onto that.

[–] [email protected] 38 points 1 day ago

No different than the DEA putting you in prison for 10 pounds of marijuana because you have a 10 pound bag of dirt and some kind of plant matter they can't identify. Facts don't matter to the government.

[–] partial_accumen 62 points 1 day ago (3 children)

A future DOGE finding will show that ketchup is a luxury that American taxpayers shouldn't be funding for any group of people under any circumstances. /s

[–] Cocodapuf 8 points 1 day ago

You're thinking of "condiments", which are usually used in different situations.

Rotten whale-skull leakage.

[–] MothmanDelorian 29 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Condoms are watertight expandable bags. They can be useful in many situations that aren't sexual.

[–] T00l_shed 9 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Yes but sex is only for making babies in their eyes

[–] danc4498 25 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Probably added by a republican as a poison pill.

[–] [email protected] 49 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I mean, it makes a ton of sense to include condoms in aid, you don't want people getting pregnant when there's literally no functioning hospitals. Of course conservatives will say 'just don't have sex' or whatever, but that's just not how humans work.

[–] danc4498 18 points 1 day ago (1 children)

This makes sense. And also makes it a lot worse that they’re using that as an excuse.

Full articleDOGE says it stopped millions of dollars meant for condoms in Gaza By Casey Harper | The Center Square

(The Center Square) – White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters at the White House press briefing Tuesday that the administration had just stopped millions in taxpayer dollars from paying for condoms for those in Gaza.

Leavitt said the finding came as a result of the pause in federal funding for a range of federal efforts, including foreign aid payments, so they can be reviewed.

That pause has sparked pushback and criticism for the Trump administration as many federal efforts ground to a halt. Leavitt, however, pointed to the Gaza condoms as proof of the necessity of the pause.

“DOGE and OMB also found that there was about to be $50 million taxpayer dollars that went out the door to fund condoms in Gaza,” Leavitt said. “That is a preposterous waste of taxpayer money.”

It is unclear if the entire $50 million was for condoms, which would be an incredible sum for a population of that size, or if the condoms were just part of a $50 million spending plan. According to media reports, Hamas militants used condoms as balloons and have tied explosives to them in previous attacks.

Leavitt said they also stopped $37 million that was about to be sent to the World Health Organization. Trump signed an executive order last week to pull the U.S. out of WHO.

“So that is what this pause is focused on, being good stewards of tax dollars,” she added.

Elon Musk, who now heads DOGE, wrote on X that the finding was just the "tip of [the] iceberg.”

Wait I thought the racists wanted less brown people they're really sending mixed messages here...

[–] [email protected] 22 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Not exactly, they need a permanent underclass of slaves

[–] [email protected] 5 points 21 hours ago* (last edited 21 hours ago)

Have you been to Israel? They go out of their way not to exploit Palestinians for labour. Most of the Israeli labor class is imported from Thailand.

Its pretty crazy and shows just how genocidal those people are. They literally want them all dead.

Bombs and bullets tend to be more effective than condoms.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

In a broad sense this is inaccurate - war has been around as long as humans, and yet we were on an exponential population growth curve until the demographic transitions started.

Over the last century we as a species have significantly reduced child mortality, improved education, infrastructure, overall quality of life, and established reproductive health initiatives that supply condoms and sex education!

These advancements cause the local mortality rate to plummet. Then the following generation gets to reproductive age but has much less offspring, and the reproductive rate falls farther than the mortality rate did.

This is called the "demographic transition" and has occurred across dramatically different cultures, environments, and economies.

This is not universal or inevitable across the globe but the impact is so significant that global population as a whole is currently heading towards a plateau!

Therefore condoms, reproductive healthcare, and distributed economic growth are more effective at reducing population growth than bombs and bullets.

Developing a nation is literally more cost-efficient than destroying it. For the species. Not for the people selling the bombs.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

The problem with that is they're not trying to "develop" Gaza... at least not for the people living there.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

True! It's just another of the many ways that evil is counterproductive to its own interests.

Helping groups of humans that bigots don't like would literally result in less humans that bigots don't like in the world.

But they can't help the wrong humans! Oh no! They have to hurt those humans! And so they leave those humans in the socioeconomic conditions that maintain exponential population growth indefinitely

[–] [email protected] 1 points 20 hours ago

Yup.. assholes gonna asshole. It did seem like we were getting better for awhile, but the news lately shows us not much has changed.

They ruin everything. Pepe, Doge, Tesla; fucking Tolkien rolling over in his grave over Anduril and Palantir.

[–] FanciestPants 20 points 1 day ago

When we said "it's a fucking genocide in Gaza", they might have misunderstood which word was meant to be emphasized.

[–] [email protected] 44 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Of course this is being defended by somebody wearing a cross.

DOGE? Like......the 2012 dog meme/cryptocurrency? I'm so confused what is happening here.

[–] [email protected] 28 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Department of Government Efficiency. Headed by Elon Musk, the guy responsible for sending that crypto coin to the moon with a single tweet. This is America now. One big meme.

[–] Lost_My_Mind 12 points 1 day ago

You somehow gave a complete answer that answered my question, and still left me even more confused.

[–] FuglyDuck 17 points 1 day ago (1 children)

DOGE as in musk’s Department of Government Efficiency.

The, uh, illegal and unconstitutional “advisory” board that was set up to give oligarchs a seat at the table.

[–] T00l_shed 10 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The, uh, illegal and unconstitutional “advisory” board that was set up to give oligarchs a seat at the table.

Gonna get a LOT of mileage out of that one sentence.
