Summary

President Joe Biden criticized Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg's decision to replace factchecking with community-moderated notes, calling it "really shameful" and "contrary to American justice."

Zuckerberg defended the move, claiming factchecking undermined public trust and stating the company aims to prioritize free speech.

The decision follows Meta's rollback of diversity and inclusion programs amid legal and political shifts.

Biden, in his final press call as president, emphasized the importance of countering misinformation, labeling Meta’s approach irresponsible and harmful to truth and public discourse.

When the president calls a mega corporation's action "shamefull" is this some kind of regulation? Is this some kind of penalty?

[–] RedditWanderer 51 points 5 days ago (1 children)

It's just virtue signaling. What he actually meant to do is send weapons to Israel but he got confused.

Hey non-voting lefties! Join us in appreciating the last time you'll see a President say something that's not only factually correct, but is in line with your personal beliefs!

Ahhhh. Nice, isn't it?

[–] RedditWanderer 11 points 5 days ago (3 children)

I'm with ya, but at this point it doesn't really matter, and he's still doing ICC shenanigans. Fuckem both i'm not american (and i vote in my elections).

Contact your elected officials and ask why they don't stop disinformation on social media.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 4 days ago

Better yet, spread horrid disinformation about your elected officials on social media.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 5 days ago

If they didn't try, I'd call them shameful and a coward.

Tiktok gets banned for showing pro-Palestine content. Facebook gets an aww shucks for spreading endless misinformation

TikTok gets banned for being Chinese Spyware.

Facebook gets an aww shucks for being American Spyware.

Yeah, since when is TikTok getting banned for showing pro-Palestine content? The only thing I've ever read or heard about it is the US government being scared of Chinese spying.

Not saying that's a good excuse either. I just think your statement is incorrect.

Also sorta funny and ironic you're spreading misinformation while complaining about misinformation.

"You have a social media ecosystem environment in which context, history, facts get lost, and the emotion — the impact of images — dominates," Blinken said.

Romney replied, "Some wonder why there was such overwhelming support for us to shut down potentially TikTok or other entities of that nature. If you look at the postings on TikTok and the number of mentions of Palestinians, relative to other social media sites — it's overwhelmingly so among TikTok broadcasts."

True. The most effective means of governing is by executive orders, issued weeks before leaving office, that can be immediately overturned by the incoming president.

Why not smash through insanely overpowered executive orders if only to clog up the Supreme Court?

Why don't they try? Ever? Anything?

it's great to see biden's doing pretty much all of the absolutely fucking nothing that i expected, before he politely and peacefully hands us all over to fascism.

get fucked joe. the ineffectual finger-wagging and sternly worded bullshit response to the country collapsing around you is a big reason people can't stand democrats

edit: LOL that's a perfect analogy-- biden's response to everything = downvotes/mad face emoji 😡

Really shameful you keep giving weapons to a genocide country but here we are.

[–] Doomsider 9 points 5 days ago

It is okay, now with Meta's hands off approach we will finally be able to criticize Israel.....oh wait apparently that is not what they meant.

He's known for his fiery rhetoric, especially slamming and blasting his enemies. CNN said so.

Biden criticized Meta, the company known for imprisoning children to mine elements for their AI batteries, because they dropped fact checking?

I call biden really shameful. You obviously have the respect of your peers but all you can do is wag your finger like an impotent bitch boy.

[–] TheEighthDoctor 2 points 4 days ago

And what did you do about this bullshit when you were president, cunt

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod 1 points 3 days ago

Zuckbot doesn’t have the shame emotion installed.

[–] Sam_Bass 1 points 4 days ago
