Summary

President Joe Biden criticized Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg's decision to replace factchecking with community-moderated notes, calling it "really shameful" and "contrary to American justice."

Zuckerberg defended the move, claiming factchecking undermined public trust and stating the company aims to prioritize free speech.

The decision follows Meta's rollback of diversity and inclusion programs amid legal and political shifts.

Biden, in his final press call as president, emphasized the importance of countering misinformation, labeling Meta’s approach irresponsible and harmful to truth and public discourse.

When the president calls a mega corporation's action "shamefull" is this some kind of regulation? Is this some kind of penalty?

[–] RedditWanderer 51 points 5 days ago (1 children)

It's just virtue signaling. What he actually meant to do is send weapons to Israel but he got confused.

[–] homesweethomeMrL 18 points 5 days ago (3 children)

Hey non-voting lefties! Join us in appreciating the last time you'll see a President say something that's not only factually correct, but is in line with your personal beliefs!

Ahhhh. Nice, isn't it?

[–] RedditWanderer 11 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I'm with ya, but at this point it doesn't really matter, and he's still doing ICC shenanigans. Fuckem both i'm not american (and i vote in my elections).

[–] [email protected] 0 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Okay but are you asserting you wouldn't vote against Trump if you voted in 2024?

[–] RedditWanderer 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I would have voted against Trump

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 days ago

Then you're not one of the morons that person was targeting so there's no need to defend their reasoning.

Yours is perfectly solid reasoning outside of an American POTUS context.

Democrats should be forced to pass electoral reform in all blue states as punishment for losing to the world's biggest loser twice. Blue conservatives no longer deserve to go it alone against the republicans.

If only Biden was president, and could order shooting neonazis about to take the reigns of power... via an official act that is legally protected?

The whole "enemies, foreign and domestic" thing....

[–] homesweethomeMrL 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Well it sure would be interesting, but I doubt that will happen. And frankly, that's ok by me if it doesn't. I prefer my justice to be ethical wherever possible.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Of course Biden will never do it, he will just allow a domestic enemy to seize power. Trump, however, certainly will. Remember the unmarked vans, with unmarked soldiers, scooping people up in Portland? That was a dry run. Our "Beer Hall Putsch" (Well, one of them, at least).

I think if they legitimately win the election then killing them isn't exactly appropriate.

They shouldn't have won the election. We'd be in much better shape.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Hitler legitimatley won his election too. And someone should have shot him in the head at the moment, too.

They shouldn’t have won the election. We’d be in much better shape.

But then the neoliberals wouldn't be able to pretend to want to do something for the next 4 years, while selling us out down the river, so their portfolios can improve.

Hey if you're feelin' froggy, get to it. Godspeed.

That's absolutely insane. You're just way up your own butt with that take. GTFO. I can't even be arsed to argue with you it's so stupid. Christ.

Hey if you’re feelin’ froggy, get to it. Godspeed.

Why doesn't Biden do it? He has legal authority to do so...

It's insane? Its the only logical conclusion one can draw from the Dem's actions over the past 22 years... Make loads of noise about issues, but do nothing of substance to solve those issues, in order to preserve talking points for next election cycle.

[–] homesweethomeMrL 0 points 4 days ago

Why doesn't Biden do it?

Uh, Biden’s being watched. Duh. And no he can’t just whack the president-elect and say “he was a traitor”. Yes, it is fun to think about. But c’mon. Ask what you can do for your country.

Its the only logical conclusion one can draw from the Dem's actions over the past 22 years

? Why 22 years? Are you 22? If so, that would explain a lot. I assume you don’t care about inflation, job creation, murder rates, and all the boring stuff they do better than republiQans, or any other national party, so lets jump to just one specific item from the the last four years.

Hundreds of billions in federal funds for renewable energy transitions. You’ll never see anything for it under republiQans who want to bring back coal for some reason, but sure 200 Billion is ‘nothing of substance’, logically.

If you are still just learning how everything works you might be unaware of the vast difference in legislation and governance between the two parties, but hang in there and you’ll figure it out someday. Probably just in time for some rando to accuse you of being a fascist because you have to drive to get somewhere.

Contact your elected officials and ask why they don't stop disinformation on social media.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 4 days ago

Better yet, spread horrid disinformation about your elected officials on social media.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 5 days ago

If they didn't try, I'd call them shameful and a coward.
