General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both [email protected] and [email protected] .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

[email protected] appears to have vanished! We can still see cached content from this link, but goodbye I guess! :'(

There’s no way the Yanks can hurt our economy any more than we can.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 days ago

There are three players that can hurt our economy. The UK, the US, and the EU.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 3 days ago (2 children)

The latest figures I could find from August 2024 shows that USA imports slightly more from UK than vice versa. It is in balance when rounded to the nearest billion.

Any changes to this would backfire 1:1 on the US.

What's the connection between US/UK trade balance and Netanyahu anyway.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 days ago

But that billion would be more impactful to the UK economy over the US one due to their respective sizes.

Would be totally worth it though, not that it would happen.

What's the connection between US/UK trade balance and Netanyahu anyway.

This was said by an elected Senator from the United States of America. It doesn't have to make sense or follow any reasons. 😂

It is school yard bullying: "Do what I say or I will punch you".

If UK obliges to that, he's just going to use the same threat over and over.

It absolutely is. But they call it "Balance Of Power" in polite circles.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 3 days ago

It's cute that this guy thinks he can crush the UK economy more than the Tories did for the past 14 years.

Israel planned to bomb US and UK targets in Egypt in a false flag called the Lavon Affair.

Israel tried to sink the USS Liberty (killing US citizens).

Israel stole Uranium from US Uranium stock piles when the US said they weren't allowed to have a nuclear program (eg. They started one anyway with stolen US Uranium).

Israel isn't some friend to the US. It never has been. Lashing out at the UK in defence of Netanyahu's war crimes is just part of the self-hatred America shows for its self in the name of Israel.

America - who soon under Trump may halt all support of Ukraine and leave Europe to fend for its self against Russia (but probably won't due to other powers that be).

The point is, America keeps threatening its European allies in the name of people doing war crimes (Putin and Netanyahu).... It's starting to look like; How you say - an axis of evil.

[–] [email protected] 24 points 4 days ago

... self-hatred ...

We are talking about Lindsey Graham, after all.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Zionists also bombed the British King David Hotel. The group that carried out the attack, Irgun, later became Likud, Netanyahu's party.

[–] njm1314 15 points 4 days ago

While I agree with your overall point I'm pretty sure most of us all understand that they didn't steal the uranium as much as they were allowed to steal the uranium. That's almost an Open Secret at this point.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 4 days ago

Don't forget selling US technology to Russia.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 days ago (2 children)

We are just waiting for boomer brainrot to die off, this blind israel support gonna lose public support

Sad reality is that Palestinians will be genocided in the mean time but that's just how things work when you permit foreign state to infiltrate your institutions like AIPAC did within US.

Parasites deff ran psyop of the century to get US to pay for the genocide in both political clout and straight cash.

Clearly folks didn't learn their lessons because they forgot USS liberty.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 days ago (1 children)

As the old die off, additional people become old. Don't assume they'll be any more immune to brain rot.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 days ago

GenZ gonna start sucking Israeli dick?

!remindmein20years lol

[–] MutilationWave 8 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Religion cannot end soon enough. It is the root of all the common people's support of Israel.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Most Israelis are secular nationalists.

[–] MutilationWave 2 points 3 days ago

I'm talking more about the American rabble that think they're going to bring Jesus back by supporting Israel at any cost and voting Republican.

Very thoughtful to give Starmer an excuse for not doing something he was never going to do anyway.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Starmer has already said the UK will honor the arrest warrant.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Lets remember. That is pretty much a garrentee he won't have to.

Not like Netanyahu is required to visit his jurisdiction. Publicly declaring this will ensure he dosent.

[–] Maalus 2 points 3 days ago

Until Netanyahu starts pushing the issue and visiting other countries one after the other to show ICC as toothless.

They'll probably start with a sure thing and then go through less hostile countries, till they go to one that said it will honor the warrant. And with more countries "behind", acting on the warrant will seem "irrational". It's a bluff, but one that is very likely to work to "normalize" the political situation after the genocide.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 2 days ago

He's said the exact opposite.

[–] TheGrandNagus 2 points 3 days ago

He very publicly committed to doing just that, what are you talking about?

[–] [email protected] 30 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Before or after the US crushes its own economy first?

[–] SirQuackTheDuck 2 points 3 days ago

if I'm going down, I'm taking you with me.

[–] [email protected] 37 points 4 days ago (4 children)

I dunno why these chowder heads think they are the kind of people that will get raptured. "Oo I do lots of evil shitty things but I'm totally going to get chosen by a sky fairy who picks people for doing nice things."

[–] WhatAmLemmy 22 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

They are mentally ill sociopaths.

It doesn't make sense because you're trying to ascribe logic where there is none.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 4 days ago (1 children)

who picks people for doing nice things

That's not what most evangelicals (and the rapture is at this point mostly only subscribed to in its usual sense by US evangelicals so far as I can tell) believe. It's all about the Jesus not the nice.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 days ago

You're quite right, supply side Jesus seems to have a bit of a different focus than classical nice guy Jesus..

[–] cynar 3 points 4 days ago

"No-one is the villan of their own story."

They think they are doing more good than harm. It's fucked up, but it's still helpful to understand how they view the world. It makes it easier to predict and counter them.

To them, it's like you threatening to beat up the local priest, while on the way to a major aid drive, because he parked wrongly. They are stepping into stop you interrupting the Lords work! Of course they will be rewarded for that!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Hey, don't bring chowder into this. Chowder is delicious.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 days ago

Delicious but also not known for being particularly bright ..

[–] HowManyNimons 21 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Hi I've just teleported here from a neighboring timeline. How is it going, Earth-420chungus69?

...

Jesus Christ.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

It's like, IF we are in a simulation... we are the trash-tv of generated content, bordering pulp.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 4 days ago (2 children)

I always imagine future historians having so much fun learning about this period.

[–] beebarfbadger 2 points 3 days ago

Around the campfire in the flooded ruins.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 days ago

If the billionaires club doesn't destroy or close source the data. Regarding the value, our Data is the one which wasn't tempered with (Ai).

So yes .. we are famous in the future! (Kind of)

[–] [email protected] 23 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Too late, they already did it to themselves with Brexit.

[–] HowManyNimons 12 points 4 days ago

Jokes on Trump. We like fucking up our economy.

[–] _bcron_ 19 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

I've become so desensitized to this timeline that I no longer think it's horrible, just too spicy. It's impossible to keep up with all the geopolitical stuff happening all over at the same time

[–] [email protected] 18 points 4 days ago

It's not as if many countries would've been eager to be the one that has to arrest him regardless of whatever ridiculous threats are uttered by Trumpists. Netanyahu will find himself very unwelcome almost everywhere in the world.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 4 days ago (1 children)
[–] HowManyNimons 3 points 4 days ago

Starmer is a well-documented Zionist. There's no way old Huckleberry Graham would need to follow up on a threat like that.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Our allies learning the hard Lesson about their pecking order within US power structures

[–] beebarfbadger 1 points 3 days ago

Netanyahu and Putin are learning alright, but it's not very hard on them.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 4 days ago

New guy rhetoric.

Israel has a firm enough grasp on the UK. Theres no question they would arrest him.

[–] [email protected] -5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Such a bullshit article using Trump in the headline when talking about what a gay Republican Senator said. Trump has famously disowned his mentor/lawyer when he got AIDS and it became apparent that he was gay. Graham might have his nose painted by Trump's ass, but Trump doesn't look his way.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 days ago

If Trump didn't know Roy Cohn was gay, he was one of the only people in New York who didn't. Which, considering Trump's monumental ignorance, is entirely possible.
