Wow. American police really are just an execution and cleanup crew. Just have a chat and compliment someone who is accused of being a danger on their weapons, ignore the victim begging them to stay and help, and then blame the victim and lie.

They are not a cleanup crew. They just look at the mess. The mess stays after they’re gone.

My friend's neighbor shot himself in the bathroom of the house he was renting. After the police left, my friend and the landlord that owned the two properties had to clean his brains off of the bathroom walls and mop up a puddle of blood. My friend got a free month rent for helping the landlord.

This is America.

[–] pandacoder 20 points 1 year ago (1 children)

... Only a free month? After cleaning up brains? I hope there was also some pay for therapy.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Over a thousand dollars to wipe up a biohazard ain't bad. Also gives them a month to find a new roommate without having to worry about covering his share of the rent.

[–] Omegamanthethird 3 points 1 year ago (3 children)

I think it being a biohazard is not the issue.

Also, if you equate a roommate's brain matter to any other biohazard waste, you might be psychopathic. I don't mean that as an insult. Just keep in mind that most people aren't as apathetic about these things.

Not sure what that has to do with the police, but they should have recommended a company to to help with cleanup at least.

[–] Smoogs 1 points 1 year ago

Yeah or at least communicate. Helping with a transition on something like this is wholly overlooked and they are part of the process so certainly they can be communicating something.

[–] Subverb 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Sorry, but cleaning up a suicide isn't the job of the police, or even EMT beyond a certain point. This is why crime scene cleaning companies exist.

[–] Smoogs 5 points 1 year ago

I would hope so. It’s massively dangerous to the exposure without the right gear.

this one is on the landlord for not taking proper precautions to call in a crew

I’m getting confused reading this. Did Cardana threaten to kill Fannel in the presence of the police, and the police just decided to leave?

[–] MooseLad 50 points 1 year ago (1 children)

He threatened to kill her after the cops said they had to leave. The victim told the cops that the perpetrator just threatened her. The perpetrator then told the cops to fuck off and they just did.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Man, to be able to just tell cops to fuck off, and have them listen?

[–] guacupado 9 points 1 year ago

Rio Rancho are like semi-police. It's when you want the police perks but without the Albuquerque crime.

[–] jaybone 2 points 1 year ago

Mr. Nimbus!

[–] [email protected] 29 points 1 year ago

Knowing Rio Rancho, these officers will probably get a parade.

[–] [email protected] 28 points 1 year ago

Jesus Christ, that was a dark article.

[–] SpaceNoodle 20 points 1 year ago (2 children)

That article does not state that they added to the caregiver's weapons.

[–] candybrie 46 points 1 year ago (3 children)

Complement as in "Hey nice guns." Not add to them.

[–] grue 47 points 1 year ago (14 children)

That's "compliment." @SpaceNoodle was subtly criticizing the misspelling.

Condiment as in "Hey nice guns." Not saucing them.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 year ago

The word/homonym spelling you want in this case is 'compliment'.

Only if OP's note is supposed to be accurate.

Rio Rancho officers talk with Cardana about the firearms inside the home.

“You’re a firearms guy?” an officer asked.

“Oh, yeah,” Cardana said.

“Nice,” the officer said.

“They’re loaded. They’re ready to go,” Cardana said.

“We don’t need to see them,” the officer said. “There’s one probably right there in that case. And I see another one over there.”

The officer continued saying, “I like folks that have guns,” since he is a gun owner himself. As the officers begin to say their goodbyes to Cardana and Fannell, she begs them to stay at the home.

You cannot make this stuff up.

[–] [email protected] 64 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Yeah, but you cut off the most insane part:

"What did you say?" Fannell asked.

"I said you're fine until I kill you," Cardana said.

"All right? He's threatened to do that," Fannell said to the Rio Rancho police officers.

"Get out of here now," Cardana said to the officers. "Go away."

The two officers leave, and four hours later, 911 receives another call.

Just... wow. Gun nuts will never do anything against other gun nuts I guess.
