Good God, we really will use anything but the metric system.

[–] Deuces 26 points 10 months ago (2 children)
[–] WhiskyTangoFoxtrot 8 points 10 months ago

Or 488.28 kibidollars.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 10 months ago

Approximately $1139.32 per poodle

[–] [email protected] 18 points 10 months ago (2 children)
[–] Donkter 43 points 10 months ago

They said approximately.

[–] WillFord27 5 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Unfortunately it seems they thought that there were 438.9 poodles

[–] [email protected] 3 points 10 months ago

I wanna see that movie.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Why would you spend that money on a poodle when you could use it for a psychic?

[–] [email protected] 20 points 10 months ago (1 children)

What about a psychic poodle?

[–] [email protected] 30 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Wow, didn't know poodles were that expensive.

I'd just get a street dog, costs nothing and will be your best friend ☺️.

[–] LifeInMultipleChoice 9 points 10 months ago (2 children)

No street dogs where I live. Suppose I'll have to get a pet deer instead

[–] [email protected] 9 points 10 months ago

maybe try getting adopted by a street cat then

[–] MycoBro 3 points 10 months ago

Where do you live? I live in the country but still get people who drive out here to drop of strays sometimes.

[–] [email protected] 25 points 10 months ago (1 children)

That could support 10 lemmy devs!

[–] [email protected] 3 points 10 months ago (2 children)
[–] [email protected] 4 points 10 months ago (1 children)

For 1 year unfortunately, it would support 3 lemmy devs for 3.33 years

[–] [email protected] 2 points 10 months ago

5×1=5 ≠ 3×3⅓=10

[–] [email protected] 2 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Software engineers make buku bucks

[–] [email protected] 3 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I was going to correct you, but after doing a web search, it appears that "buku" is an alternative spelling of "beaucoup." Neat!

[–] KammicRelief 1 points 10 months ago

I was also going to correct. Thanks for doing the work!

[–] [email protected] 21 points 10 months ago (1 children)

If only there was some way she could have seen that coming.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 10 months ago

The psychics certainly saw that coming.

[–] Etterra 19 points 10 months ago (6 children)

Sure, if you buy purebreds with documentation or something, JFC. Anyone willing to pay $12,000 for one dog needs to be taxed harder.

[–] matter 9 points 10 months ago

It would be $1,200 though

[–] EatYouWell 6 points 10 months ago (1 children)

The only reason to pay that much is if you're planning on starting breeding yourself.

[–] WhiskyTangoFoxtrot 5 points 10 months ago

If you breed yourself you're going to spend a hell of a lot more than $1,200. Especially if you plan on sending them to college.

Eww.. don’t buy animals, adopt.

[–] RGB3x3 12 points 10 months ago (3 children)

You do still have to pay for them though.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago) (1 children)

The elites don’t want you to know this but the dogs at the park are free you can take them home I have 416 dogs.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

If you don't know it already, please listen to I Steal Pets by Rachel Bloom.

[–] FlyingSquid 5 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Generally, you pay things like the cost of spaying or neutering and vaccines. We paid $150 when we adopted our last dog to cover those costs. $150 is a hell of a lot less than over $1000.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

And food and taxes and going to a doc when they get ill and make vaccations more expensive

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

My local shelter has free adoptions. Everyone returned the dogs they bought during COVID, so they just need to get rid of them as fast as possible from the shelters.

[–] FastAndBulbous 7 points 10 months ago

Yes generally, but adopted animals can absolutely have challenging behavoural issues that not everyone is suited to deal with. It depends on your situation I think but absolutely more people should adopt.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 10 months ago

Adoption isn't free tho.....

[–] [email protected] 13 points 10 months ago

I suppose that’s an argument from someone who thinks a poodle is replacement for therapy.
