A 3 year old was dumped at a hospital covered in bruises and died. Suspect not caught. But I feel safe knowing they're out there protecting what matters

[–] pzzzt 6 points 1 day ago

At least that's less pigs out killing.

[–] [email protected] 160 points 1 day ago (3 children)

As usual a great illustration of the cops real job - protecting rich folks property

[–] Carmakazi 54 points 1 day ago (1 children)

That is a lot of manpower that could be used elsewhere, were they actually a public service.

[–] [email protected] 26 points 1 day ago (2 children)

As I understand it to be, these guys are off duty and have no guns in their holsters and they're getting paid by tesla. That's how it usually works but I bet these cheques are signed by the feds.

[–] [email protected] 21 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Then they are all impersonation police officers and should be charged with federal crimes.

[–] Skullgrid 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Then they are all impersonation police officers

Can you impersonate a police officer if you work as one?

[–] Mr_Fish 7 points 1 day ago (3 children)

If Pepycito is right, they might be employed as police officers, but they're not currently working as officers. I'm no expert on US law, so I don't know if that actually counts as impersonation, but knowing the US it proposal doesn't matter since it wouldn't be enforced anyway.

[–] Skullgrid 6 points 1 day ago

but knowing the US it proposal doesn’t matter since it wouldn’t be enforced anyway.

the news for basically the next 4 years at least.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago

In the US, they are always cops, on duty or off. That's why lots of places like hiring them for security. They can instantly arrest people, justified or not, and can often carry a gun where other people are not allowed to.

We have nothing resembling actual enforcement of law here.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago

I'm in Canada, I don't know how it works other places. Here's a police services hiring board if you're interested.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

They have guns holstered and are in uniform. What makes you think they’re off duty?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago

Where I am, you can hire off duty officers as security. They're just security guards in a police uniform. Maybe these guys are the new Stasi idk

Protect and serve (capital)

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 day ago

And playing games with overtime numbers to maximize taxpayer drain.

[–] [email protected] 35 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Demand your mayor and city council stop supporting this shit. Why is tax money going to protect this shit?

[–] cogman 43 points 1 day ago (1 children)

You kidding? This is probably the best use of cops. Instead of harassing minorities they've created a human shield that will scare off people from purchasing Nazi mobiles.

If tax money is going to cops, they might as well be doing the job of a protest but more effectively.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I'd rather they not be used to defend billionaires. If this is what they spend their time doing then we could save some money in the budget by firing them.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago

They're not gonna fire them, though. At least this shows billionaires are scared.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Demand your mayor and city council stop supporting this shit.

I mean, sure, absolutely. Not sure he's going to be able to hear me given the large crowd of police in between us. But I'll try and get my mayor's attention.

Why is tax money going to protect this shit?

Cause businesses like Tesla tip their elected reps generously.

[–] RememberTheApollo_ 3 points 1 day ago

I like this take on the image.

Tesla™ presents the Police

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Every trip you take

And every turn you make

Every time you brake

(Don't go in that lake!)

He'll be watching you

"To serve and protect... the rich".

[–] Illegalmexicant 49 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Look, they aren't doing anything, I should cut their funding..oh shit that wasn't good. I guess I'll spend a third of our taxes on this.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 1 day ago (1 children)

No you cut the funding that goes to poor people, so when they start to revolt, you can use that savings to help fund your security to protect you from the angry poor people, and spend more on security then you would have spent just keeping the poor people happy.

This is what conservatives call, "fiscal responsibility".

[–] Skullgrid 2 points 1 day ago

this is the worst part of conservativism; even if you were a complete asshole, the money it takes to clean up after someone steals something costs more than just making that available.

[–] Intergalactic 17 points 1 day ago

The police will NEVER work for us under a capitalist system.

[–] [email protected] 23 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Wow so Tesla finally found its target audience, huh?

[–] [email protected] 15 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I didn't know pigs could drive 🤔

[–] MsPenguinette 16 points 1 day ago (1 children)

They can't, that's why they keep dying in car crashes

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago

and killing others in them while watching YouTube.

also, as a bonus, the video was transphobic and the creator is a fucking bigot.

[–] random_character_a 7 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Good god, why are they standing so close to each other! Properly motivated person with nothing to loose could take them out and still do some serious damage to the building, just with a stolen truck.

Not sure if those are real cops. Long time desk workers maybe?

[–] UnderpantsWeevil 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 22 hours ago) (1 children)

Properly motivated person with nothing to loose could take them out

Would be extremely ironic if an overheating Cybertruck were to pull up in front of them.

[–] random_character_a 1 points 22 hours ago

Oh, they'll be driving them.

Must be fucking hilarious to stuff a big violent "customer" in the slanted back seat of a cybertruck.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 day ago

Peak efficiency.

[–] NegativeLookBehind 10 points 1 day ago (1 children)

You've heard of Bay of Pigs, but now we have Wall of Pigs

[–] cmrn 6 points 1 day ago

Ah, so that’s what Elon is “freeing up” budget for
