I'd recognize the drab bomb shelter lighting temperature of an In-N-out any day, with or without the food.

[–] mkwt 11 points 2 months ago

That's cleanliness you can see.

[–] Xanthrax 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

They do that to keep people awake. Customers and workers alike. That's just what I've heard from the workers, though.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago

It's also a pretty common lighting choice in just about any office building or commercial entity. When you're as big as a giant fast food franchise, I can see the likelihood someone might have done the research necessary to conclude it was worth getting this lighting specifically to avoid sleeping customers and staff but I think it's also quite likely they're just cheap.

Did someone dump a can of cream-of-mushroom soup on that? I don't know what I'm looking at.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 2 months ago (1 children)

It's a quarter cup of cat barf. It's difficult at first to get your pets to barf into measuring cups, but it absolutely can be done. Carrot, not the stick. Positive reinforcement.

Had a dog who was able to puke in bags. Can confirm: training is key!

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

That sounds very useful if you ever plan to bring your dog on a roller coaster

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 months ago

She wasn't really into car rides either.. but after a while we developed a routine for the rare occasions a ride was inevitable ಠ_ಠ

They're called Animal Style fries

[–] ashok36 1 points 2 months ago

Because they look and taste like dog food.

How about some People Style fries, please?

Sir I believe a toddler barfed on your fries

[–] [email protected] 14 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Their fries are always so chalky and dry, they legitimate taste fucking disgusting. Burgers are amazing, though.

[–] Telodzrum 13 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Amazing burgers and the worst fast-food fries on the planet. In ‘n Out is such a weird dichotomy.

[–] ummthatguy 14 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Order them well done and they improve drastically.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Or do like OP and mask them in every sauce in the building

[–] [email protected] 11 points 2 months ago

Those are Animal Style fries

It definitely improves them, but not by much

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

I don't like their fries all that much either, but on the off chance that you've been eating them unsalted, they don't salt them, just give you the salt on the side.

[–] HootinNHollerin 8 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

Next time order with chopped chilies on top of the fries

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

I get them in the burger. Double-double with a whole grilled onion and chopped chilies, animal style fries. It's what makes the world go round. Almost forgot to mention, toasted bun to help keep it from falling apart.

[–] LemmySoloHer 7 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Cheeseburger with no onions and animal style fries I believe, and a beauty at that!

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

I'll take a Double Triple Bossy Deluxe, on a raft, four-by-four animal-style, extra shingles with a shimmy and a squeeze, light axle grease, make it cry, burn it, and let it swim.

[–] evidences 12 points 2 months ago

We serve food here sir

[–] gmtom 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

In n out is the most mid fast food I've ever eaten.

[–] QuarterSwede 3 points 2 months ago

Thank god I’m not the only one. I didn’t grow up on them, being from the east coast, and I think it tastes like a dressed up McDonald’s burger (animal style included). It’s just not great. Hell, Freddy’s and Culvers is better.

Oh their fries are absolute trash, that I agree on.

[–] Sgt_choke_n_stroke 6 points 2 months ago (2 children)

This feels like a post from an In-N-Out higher up

Agreed! The fries are so bad! Absolutely disgusting no flavor and limp and soggy every time. They just slice them and toss them in the frier. Good fires are pre-boiled with a little bit of vinegar and then flash fried, frozen, then fried again. That’s how you get the soft core but nice bubbly crispy skin.

[–] Raiderkev 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I'm not a fan of animal style fries, but I do like their fries. I get a laugh at how everyone hates on them for having the least processed fries in the business. Long before in n out was in my area, every now and then my dad would make fries out of fresh potatoes. He would do it just like in n out. Cut up the potato, fry it up and add salt. I get that nostalgia plays a part, but those were the best damn fries I ever ate as a child. In n out's taste very similar especially if you get them fresh. (Still not the same, but it's very good) People always complain that they aren't as crisp, but honestly, just appreciate that they are made differently, and expect something different. There are literally 3 ingredients. Potato, oil, and salt, and you can watch them manually cutting potatoes from the drive thru or lobby. Imo that's a sign of quality, and I would be mad as hell if they switched to generic par fried frozen shit that you can get literally anywhere else.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago

I haven't had In n Out in like 20 years but back then the fries were golden and crispy. I liked them a lot.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

All the comments about the burger sauce on the fries acting like they've never heard of using thousand island dressing as fry sauce. Mayo, ketchup, relish (preferably dill). I don't know why In-n-Out calls that animal style though... I've only ever known animal style to mean dipped in mustard and fried so it gets a crunchy shell. Not "absolutely drenched in sauce."

And speaking as moderator: I'm not sure I want to keep fast food posts up here, but I also like being fair to the fact Lemmy is small and we don't want to get all up our own butts like the Reddit sub. What does the community itself think?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago

I think it's food porn, and In n Out is sexy as fuck

[–] abcdqfr 3 points 2 months ago

So many in-n-out haters.

[–] feedum_sneedson 3 points 2 months ago

Not really feeling it to be honest.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago

I like their burgers but the fries are total dog shit

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)
[–] Cornpop 2 points 2 months ago

Nothing of value was lost, those fries are so nasty to begin with. In-n-out has the absolute worst fries.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago

Tried it recently, garbage tier food. Doesn't belong in this sub.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Sorry OP, but this looks sad and horrid.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I hate to agree with a vegan but in this case they are correct

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

What's your beef with vegans?

[–] [email protected] 12 points 2 months ago

The lack of beef

[–] RubberElectrons 1 points 2 months ago (2 children)

I dunno what it is, but their fries (animal style with Chiles, or plain) seem to really upset my guts, consistently. I suspect it's their oil, but so far as I know, it's just regular peanut oil..

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 months ago

They are the lowest quality fries I've ever had, with or without salad dressing to cover it up

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 months ago

Sunflower Oil

Five Guys is the peanut oil place
