So are people from Lesbos all called Lesbians?

[–] dustyData 80 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It is literally where the word Lesbian comes from. It meant the people of Lesbos way before it were associated with homosexual women.

[–] SonnyVabitch 45 points 1 year ago (1 children)

But some people from Lesbos are more lesbian than others.

Only people from Lesbos are lesbian, the others are sparkling wine

I feel like this would work better if you replaced wine with homosexuals, but now I'm ruining it more by adding this...

[–] Dagnet 13 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Probably yeah, but Im not that funny

If you edit your comment, and Cethin deletes theirs, and you delete this one, and I delete mine, you can be a comedic genius for whoever reads it later!

Gay women are called lesbians because the woman credited with being the first historically confirmed homosexual woman, the Greek poet Sappho, was from Lesbos.

And Sapphire! All those blue gems are gay as fuuuuck

[–] [email protected] 20 points 1 year ago

I've seen Steven Universe, I can confirm.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 11 months ago

Probably not. "Sappho" has Greek origins, "sapphire" is Hebrew is origin. They're likely not connected.

Ah, so because I am a transgender woman, I am a Roman!

[–] [email protected] 3 points 11 months ago

I wish this post had been titled lesbian rule.

[–] nifty 8 points 11 months ago

[–] [email protected] 24 points 1 year ago

[–] [email protected] 21 points 1 year ago
