Spaghetti-Os are disgusting.

[–] weeeeum 33 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I had them again for the first time in probably 15 years and man that shit is nasty. Overly sweetened mildly acidic sludge in a can. The "meat" might be the worst part.

I tried them last year and I have to say they brought back childhood. So many memories!

But when I tried again, they didn’t have the original style without meat. That stuff was vile even when I was a kid. You know it’s bad when chopping up cheap hot dogs to put in it are far above the “hot dogs” style

I... I love them. I don't know what it is but the more processed the food the more I want it. And these things taste like they've been assembled from compounds never actually found in nature.

Did you grow up eating them? My wife did, and she loves this trash, too.

I am disgusted by this and similar canned pastrocities. But I didn't eat it when I was a kid. What I did eat was Vienna sausages. Some people call them viennie weenies where I'm from. They are objectively garbage, but I like them still.

I have a fondness for cheap canned meats, including fish. I'm sure this is a result of spending a good part of my childhood in poverty, but damn does that shit hit.

Hell yeah I'll wreck some sardines. I also like fried spam with rice. I like most canned meats really. I LOVE corned beef hash from a can. I fried some up with eggs for dinner just a couple days ago.

Yep. That whole plate looks like my childhood.

Agreed, the tiny questionably meat meatballs are my favorite.

It was very disappointing recently to open a can of them only to find out it was noodles, sauce, and literally nothing else.

[–] Eheran 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

How are they more processed than any other type of noodle?

[–] skygirl 5 points 1 week ago

They need to be a little different because they sit wet in a can (for potentially years) before being heated / eaten. Normal noodles would fall apart, so they're probably a little structurally different (preservatives and such).

But the noodles aren't the weird part, it's the strangely sweet and acidic sauce. And the meatballs are a whole other thing...

I grew up in a house where bolognaise was a near-sacred endeavour that took all day for a batch lot that gave us freezables and lasagnas for months. Stepmum tried to feed me spaghetti in a can once. It...did not go well

Depends highly on the variant. Plain noodle ones are great, but the meat ones are nasty

[–] SpaceNoodle 1 points 1 week ago

No, one's just nastier than the other.
