Summary

As the stock market plunged Monday due to Trump’s trade wars, he spent the day posting on Truth Social.

The Nasdaq fell 4%, its worst drop since 2022, while the S&P 500 lost nearly 3%. Major tech stocks, including Tesla, saw significant losses.

Trump posted over 100 times, endorsing his tariffs despite investor panic. A White House official dismissed the sell-off as irrational fear.

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick insisted a recession is unlikely. Trump avoided a clear recession prediction, calling the economy’s shift a “transition.”

"No one wants to work"

Can be applied to the parasitic idle rich like little d and fElon far more than anyone else.

Nero fiddled while Rome burned

[–] MapleEngineer 18 points 11 hours ago

Had the price of eggs started coming down, yet, or just the stock market?

[–] [email protected] 12 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

he needed cocaine to post that many times.

[–] CharlesDarwin 2 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

When I see some photo-op involving little d and fElon, I wonder how much ketamine, cocaine and Adderall is coursing through their veins....

to have that energy to post hundreds of posts, you need to be on a stimulant, or a crazy parosocial/codependent personality. its a little of both, i knew people that were obssesed with texting can down 100+ posts within a few hours.

When he announced the tariffs you could see the stock prices drop before your own eyes. On Fox News even. Blaming Biden is just holding off his nutcase cult members. Hopefully real Republicans have some common sense and courage to stand up.

[–] SoftestSapphic 19 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

His cult memebers are the "real" Republicans, at least what's left of them.

Anyone who doesn't support fascism has stopped supporting the fascist party

[–] Lucky_777 5 points 18 hours ago (2 children)

Some Republicans don't like the direction but have active threats against their families. Which is honestly sad, forcing the remaining "good" Republicans into the private sector.

We need fair campaigns. It shouldn't cost you 100s of thousands to run a campaign to get elected. Even local campaigns cost a massive amount. You easily spend 80k for a judge position for one county.

What common man has 80k sitting around for an election?

[–] HasturInYellow 3 points 12 hours ago

Honestly, they should resign. If they fear for their lives, take some time to spend with their family and reevaluate their lives. Otherwise, I don't have much sympathy.

American people willingly join truth social and get brain washed is another level of 1984 I don’t understand.

[–] Catma 32 points 23 hours ago (4 children)

There are only 2 types of people on Truth social. Nazis and people reporting on the Nazis on truth social. No one is joining Truth Social expecting to get anything other than Nazi propoganda.

[–] jaybone 6 points 21 hours ago (2 children)

There’s also a bunch of crypto scammers on there.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 6 hours ago

Trump being the most prominent one.

[–] turmacar 10 points 21 hours ago

Honestly not sure there's much of a distinction between those groups anymore.

I fear this is too charitable an estimation of the average US citizen's ability to spot propaganda. I genuinely worry some people are fooled by how it's all wrapped in the flag and not understanding the dangers of nationalism or the alt right pipeline just fall for it and end up buying in, not because they were inherently a bad person, but because they were easily fooled (the main cause of which I believe is that they were intentionally not taught critical thinking skills and media literacy as those skills more easily allow us to see through the various illusions, and the same goes for emotion regulation skills, empathy, and an understanding of marginalization and intersectional politics, which protect against the coordinated effort by the system(s) and those with power to attempt to turn us against each other and see others as non-human, but that's a whole huge conversation (that I'm willing to have but not necessarily publicly; feel free to reach out if you intend to have a good faith conversation))

I don’t think people are joining truth social unless they already drank the kool-aid.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

Jesus another Eu-diot who just doesn’t get it. Truth social is where you get the unfiltered truth directly from Trump. What could possibly be a more direct and accurate representation of the truth than what Trump tells you himself? Why would Trump, a man who wins at everything, need to lie? That’s what the lamestream media is for!

/s but sadly so many believe this to be true.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 6 hours ago

TS is where his supporters can get his diarrhea straight from the mouth.

[–] DaddleDew 34 points 23 hours ago (3 children)

He's blaming Biden for the decline while claiming that his tariffs are going to save the economy. Those tariffs are exactly what is causing the decline in the first place, especially with the moronic way he is trying to implement them that is driving investors and business away from the US. He will drive the US economy into the ground until his entourage turns on him.

[–] But_my_mom_says_im_cool 26 points 21 hours ago (2 children)

Don’t worry, next election the Dems will win, and spend 4 years fixing the mess. And while doing so, Americans will accuse them of doing nothing and vote them out in favour of Republican, who will fuck everything up, until the Dems as elected to fix it again. Rinse and repeat and you got American politics

[–] nickiwest 1 points 9 hours ago

You've just encapsulated my entire living memory of US politics.

He's done exactly what he set out to do: create a fire sale for his oligarch masters to profit from.

[–] DaddleDew 6 points 19 hours ago* (last edited 19 hours ago) (3 children)

I was suspecting he was collapsing the market on purpose too. But his mental breakdown about it last night on social media suggests he simply is arrogantly incompetent and delusional.

[–] JacksonLamb 5 points 19 hours ago* (last edited 19 hours ago)

Trump himself melts down regularly, unsurprising in an elderly grandiose narcissist with an amphetamine habit.

He is not the brains behind this administration's actions, and it isn't clear how much he even understands. He is a glove puppet for the oligarchs.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 14 hours ago

I was also on the "he's doing it on purpose" train. I don't know now 🤐😬

[–] Sludgeyy 2 points 18 hours ago

One day people will realize that you can make money when the stock market goes down

Causing it to go down is much easier than making it go up

Smart people looking to make money on a declining market told him some "smart" stuff to do. He believes it is smart. It is smart for the people that profit. Just hurts so many.

He believes he is special, like some kind of perfect business man where the "deals" always get done and work out in the end for him.

He has been used his whole life like a rich monkey to make others money thinking he was the brains behind the whole operation

[–] Treczoks 5 points 20 hours ago

Of course all he says defies logic and reality, but as long as his idiots believe it, logic and realism won't help.

"Look, this cliff we've intentionally drove off is nothing! The fact that we are plunging 300 feet straight down is an irrational fear you'll all have to get over. pulls out unwrapped, slightly used Worthers Candy, anyone?" - Howard Lutnick.

[–] [email protected] 50 points 1 day ago (1 children)

We have literally arrived at 1984 levels of lies and delusion, it's incredible. And all the MAGA's are willingly falling for it...

[–] MataVatnik 18 points 1 day ago

They spent the last ten years yelling 1984, I thought they were criticizing it, I didn't realize that they were actually chanting what they wanted.

In the name of science with a dash of self hatred, I had a look at 4chan earlier today. It seems even those morons blame trump for the market downturn.

Time for Q to make a come back

[–] alaphic 40 points 1 day ago (4 children)

I mean there are only a few real hard and fast rules you have to follow in life (imo):

  1. Don't talk about Fight Club
  2. No pre-orders, No exceptions
  3. Don't fall in love with the stripper
  4. Don't believe the politician's promises

Strippers and politicians are like two sides of a coin in that one pretends to love you but is just going to fuck you and the other is a stripper.

It's really just not that hard guys.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 day ago (2 children)

So what's wrong with the strippers?

[–] TriPolarBearz 29 points 1 day ago

Nothing wrong with strippers. Just don't confuse good customer service with love.

[–] YarHarSuperstar 3 points 21 hours ago (4 children)

They said "the stripper" not "a stripper" which if I'm reading it correctly is... Slightly better I guess?
