Louisiana, my home state, is banning the promotion of certain vaccines by public health workers. This seems to be in preparation for the upcoming Trump administration.

What the fuck?

"Hey, public health worker. Your job is to help the public be heathy. "

"Oh, BTW, you're not allowed to tell people about the benefits of getting vaccinated. "

Antivaxers make no sense (they're still going on about autism because of one fraudulent paper published in the 1990s that was retracted and whose author lost his medical license), but voting them into power makes even less sense. RFK Jr will be working to make this happen nationally, and not just with these vaccines but with things like polio and measles too.

I feel bad for the kids of these antivax monsters that are going to allow their kids to get measles, or even worse Polio, and potentially suffer a lifetime of health issues based on junk "science". That's of course if they don't die and/or spread it to others.

So everyone in Louisiana 😳

It's growing and spreading to other arwa of medicine. My wife's aunt was recently diagnosed with AML, a for of leukemia. Her coinsurance for the treatments is like $4k and that led to a big discussion at my in-laws house about how Kennedy was gonna do great things and shake things up. I just kept my mouth shut and thought about what's coming.

[–] WaxiestSteam69 3 points 8 hours ago

My Representative on the Louisiana house was a vocal proponent of legislation for this purpose. I'm pretty sure it passed. At least for me calling my elected officials does no good. There is so much support for this crap you can't get a word in.

Maybe it's their strategy to tackle immigration by making their country a hellhole for anybody but the super wealthy?

Alabama tried this in the early 2010's and the results were great for the state. Fields were left with crops rotting because they weren't harvested, home building slowed, meat processing slowed, people stopped cooperating with police, they arrested a Mercedes Benz exec and a Japanese Toyota employee for not having a driver's license which I'm sure encouraged those manufacturers to expand factories in the state. Business leaders, churches, and so many others hated it.

Did they learn? Apparently fucking not. Buckle up because they're taking it nationwide and the ride is gonna be awful. I've already bought 200lbs of rice and beans and a bunch of shelf stable items because I fully expect food costs to skyrocket. I advise everyone do the same because undocumented people do so much that can't easily be seen.

> We need a vaccine to conquer this once and for all!
> Look at this great vaccine we made! All hail Operation Warp Speed!
> Hey, you need a vaccine to enter this building!
> Actually, that was just a suggestion. You should get vaccinated, but you don't need to.
> Actually, we absolutely do not care care either way if you get vaccinated or not.
> Mandating vaccines is illegal.
> Suggesting vaccines is illegal.

We are hoping to make vaccines illegal as soon as possible.

Next up, legislation to push Brawndo as a cure all.

I imagine the list of things they can do will shrink more and more.
