Pressure sensitive PS2 controllers did need full pressure on the button actually.

The original PS3 controllers were pressure sensitive and motion controlled.
My thumb was forever sore after learning that pressing the "X" button down harder actually made the cars drive faster. So glad we seem to have switched to using the triggers for driving games now.
I used the right analogy stick back in the day for acceleration and braking. That worked well too.
Was there a sensible implementation of this? If no, that's kinda sad. I like it when they try new things.
It just mirrored the PS2 controller features since the original launch PS3 could play PS2 games.
A few games used it, but none of it sounds like a must-have. Just a lot of stuff that could be more effectively done with the triggers.
Yeah I was playing burnout revenge on the ps2 a few weeks ago for the first time in years and getting my ass torn up by my friend. It took my a while to get back in the 8 year old mindset and figure out what was wrong
When I played Smash Melee as a kid, a few of the neighbor kids would flail about so violently that they would rip their controller out of the console, elbow or armbar me in the face to the point I was bleeding and bruised, throw their controllers about the room breaking the controller and whatever it hit, and just outright kick or punch me with a free hand right as I was about to clinch a game.
Years later, I would learn that that one time I came home from school early and saw a man in a neat black suit talking with my dad, who quickly made an exit, this person was not in fact my dad's friend from work.
He was a fucking FBI agent surveilling the house of the extremely violence normalized kids.
Turns out their dad was some kind of convicted felon in another state, moved here, and was suspected of illegally purchasing or possessing a firearm.
So yeah about half a year later violent-family dad was arrested.
PS: For added irony, my dad later fell down the Q Anon rabbit hole and showed me his whole set up and process for assembling/manufacturing ghost guns with no serial numbers.
That was a wild ride that I was not expecting.

There has to be some communities for that kind of roller coaster posts. But most of their posts would be just green text lol.
For what its worth, as crazy as your dad sounds, that's technically not illegal in most states so long as there's nothing preventing him from purchasing one.

Tilting the controller made sense at the time of the Wii as well.
Lots of controllers have gyroscopes these days. The ones I've personally used are switch, ds4 and steam deck, but I assume it's a pretty regular feature on newer controllers these days too.

Once I was watching my brother play counter strike and he would turn away in game and irl whenever he threw a flash bang.
He didn't even realize he was doing this until I pointed it out.
I honestly do that too and think it's because of our monkey brain.
When I jump into some place with a pretty low ceiling (like catacombs in Dust 2) I sometimes duck irl to not hit my heod
This is what the next subnautica needs to feel like. Game will only be good if I almost shit myself at night diving 1800m deep.
And this is why I don't play that game. 😅 Sounds fun for those who like that stuff, though!
I'm all of these fish. If I'm going to spend my life playing a game I want to immerse myself as much as possible.

I also lean when playing games. Some make jokes about but fuck em, their sorry asses couldn't enjoy it a much I do.
I remember back in the day we'd make fun of my buddy's dad for leaning around corners when playing Ms. Pacman.

Physically bobbing and weaving to avoid swords in Dark and Darker
Motion controls in GT7 are actually pretty good now 😂, not as good as a racing wheel, but more accurate than the analog sticks.
