Among the topics on which Trump offered scant details were how he would reduce taxes and cut back on business regulations, according to two other people in the room who spoke to CNBC.

...

The same CEOs who were struck by Trump’s lack of focus “walked into the meeting being Trump supporter-ish or thinking that they might be leaning that direction,” Sorkin reported.

“These were people who I think might have been actually predisposed to [Trump but] actually walked out of the room less predisposed” to him, Sorkin said.

...

“At one point, he discussed his plan to bring the corporate tax rate down from 21% to 20% … and was asked about why he had chosen 20%,” Sorkin said Friday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.” “And he said, ‘Well, it’s a round number.’”

“That unto itself had a number of CEOs shaking their heads,” Sorkin reported.

these fucking ‘geniuses’ needed to be in a room with this moron to determine he’s a moron?

[–] disguy_ovahea 79 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago) (1 children)

They knew he was a moron before entering. They were hoping the moron was good enough of a liar to hide the fact that he’s a moron. The moron failed.

Never go full moron.

I feel like him being a convicted felon mainly because he's terrible liar would've been more than enough proof

[–] disguy_ovahea 5 points 5 months ago (1 children)

That case actually proved that he’s good at hiding his lies. Part of the prosecution’s case was testimony based, not connected physical evidence. That’s why the defense was working so hard to discredit Cohen. His credibility was imperative for conviction.

Part of being a good liar is not pissing off the ppl who know the truth

[–] disguy_ovahea 3 points 5 months ago

Seems that way. I stick to white lies. No one is taking you to court over saying you don’t look fat in that dress. Lol

They aren't geniuses they are just rich. They usually don't go together

[–] pyre 6 points 5 months ago

If hiring a convicted felon, rapist, failed businessman, dementia patient means they'll end up with a bigger yacht to take them to Epstein's private island, then yes. CEOs will gladly back him.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 5 months ago

I have a feeling that they will, just to make an extra buck for themselves.

[–] Cheems 4 points 5 months ago

They think they can manipulate him. Anyone voting for him either thinks that ( or can profit off it), is deeply uneducated, or truly believes that he is the next Messiah.

[–] [email protected] 52 points 5 months ago (1 children)

On the one hand there is the prospect of electing a clown they can control and use to get another tax break and other business friendly policies, like unlimited pollution, and on the other hand there's a chance he will lead his christofascist cult members on a jihad to destroy democracy, and maybe civilization itself, which would put a pretty big dent in their profit margins. What to do, what to do....

They basically get the status quo with Biden. I think this may actually signal a turning point for at least some of them.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 5 months ago

The reliable thing they hate vs the wildcat gamble? Okay, excellent viewpoint as usual.

[–] bamfic 4 points 5 months ago

the status quo is fucking amazing for billionaires. why would they want to tamper with that

[–] FollyDolly 47 points 5 months ago

Trump needs a glass of warm milk and a nap in a jail cell, not to be running for president.

[–] [email protected] 29 points 5 months ago (3 children)

They are all going to donate to him and vote for him, what is this bullshit

[–] Duamerthrax 7 points 5 months ago

They view him as a useful idiot. They think they'll be able to control him, but they should have realized by now that's not possible. He's like a windup toy. You can send him in a direction, but he may drift off course or someone else might redirect him.

AI generated article. Just white noise to fill the space in between Gaza genocides and climate change collapse.

[–] [email protected] 21 points 5 months ago (4 children)

He’s so old, why do they keep making trump run?

[–] UnderpantsWeevil 9 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

He's easy to manipulate and ideological committed to doing fascism on a national scale.

But it's not like they didn't try to run other people. DeSantis, Cruz, Hailey, Christie - they all ended up eating shit.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 5 months ago

Winning is kind of his only chance to avoid the consequences for a lifetime of breaking the rules.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 months ago

Sometimes kids have backbone?

Also, if we believe the GoP has some magical pee-party leverage over Mr Trump, then he represents a special kind of provably-shameless monkey for them to push around.

Their golden goose may be doddering, decrepit and rambling, but if he's still making eggs then he's valuable as-is.

No other want's the job? Or it's better to stay 2nd row and whisper stupid things to front row?

[–] [email protected] 12 points 5 months ago

That doesn't stop his believers. You know, like some former pope who couldn't even really talk anymore?

Both - DJT and EM - want's AI. Or an excuse for the shitty output - for both human idiocracy and artificial intelligence. Honey, where's my pitchfork?
