Chinese authorities are investigating after a viral video appeared to show a worker from Tsingtao urinating into a tank, believed to contain ingredients for its popular beer.

The clip has received tens of millions of views on social media.

The company said it alerted police immediately after the video came to its attention, adding that the batch of ingredients had been sealed.

Tsingtao is one of China's top beer producers and its biggest exporter.

Nah, they only use pure unfiltered ditch water.

Judging by your user name, I'll assume that you speak Dutch. The Heineken factory in Den Bosch is near the Brabanthallen. For context: this is a huge congress hall (or rather: a complex of several halls) that used to be a cattle market. I once went there a few days after a large cattle market. You could still smell the cow piss. To this day I still maintain that it is no coincidence that the Brabanthallen and the Heineken factory are so close to each other. :-)

I've been there too a while back. You might be on to their secret ingredient.

Spread the rumour it's schoolgirl urine, change the name to Pi-Tsingtao and export to Japan. Problem solved.

They were just copying the American recipe.

Reminds me of this video where a shirtless Chinese fella is wading in a giant pool of kimchi. The video led to a Korean boycott of Chinese kimchi, which is commonly served in greasy spoons across Korea.

I'm left to wonder is that was before or after any cleaning process. If it's before.... it's not a great look but not all that bad. This stuff comes from farms where it's got to be cleaned before use anyway because of dirt, pesticides, etc.

If it's after "cleaning" then I think this reaction is sufficient. 🤢🤮

New trolley problem just dropped: would you drink free beer disposed of by the brewery, knowing there is a non-zero chance it contains a tiny amount of piss?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I wouldn't because I do not need to LMAO... But diluted enough... it's like it isn't there.

The city of Portland disagrees! Back in 2014, they dumped 38 million gallons of water from a reservoir because one stupid drunk peed in it. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-27069611

On Wednesday, Mr Shaff said while animal waste often found its way into the reservoir without any public health risk, there was "at least a perceived difference from my perspective" on human waste.

"I could be wrong on that, but the reality is our customers don't anticipate drinking water that's been contaminated by some yahoo who decided to pee into a reservoir," he said.

That is the secret ingredient.

I'm currently in Thailand and saw a couple of arrogant Chinese get ruthlessly beaten by street justice. They had been talking shit about everyone all night and then started being physical. It took seconds for there to be dozens of Thai people beating them worse than I have ever seen someone beaten. It was really bad. I'd be surprised if they lived. By the time the police came both Chinese were completely unconscious on the ground with blood everywhere. Nobody was taken into custody other than the Chinese guys.

When talking with people after it happened they mostly agreed that Chinese people have been the problem causers more than other tourists. There seems to have been a major shift in Chinese culture over the past few years and most of them seem to have a massive superiority complex.

I used to think it was the CCP that made China a bad place but it seems it's the people as well.

Thailand is dealing with shit-tons of expat russians hiding out for the war to end. Now the fuckwits are trying to set up russian businesses in thailand like white-russian-only nail salons and white-russian-only taxis. I hope the Thais take everything they have.

What does that have to do with beer?

It's because the incompetent PM made the visa free for mainland Chinese. It's going to get a lot worse in Thailand.

The culture is the problem and the CCP insistent on keeping outdated traditions and social values keeps them in the past. China cultural values went to shit ever since the cultural revolution and the government has done nothing to better it, only doubling down and adding more problematic beliefs. There were needs to be selfish and to deceive for survival, but with the kind of government the CCP is instead of that slowly going away after the worst is over you have that continue to be ingrain into future generations to the point it becomes an identity. Then add the contemporary dose of propaganda and the sudden increase in progress and you have the superiority complex.

I'd like to point out a couple things:

  • You took an article about one Chinese dude being an asshole and took a massive detour to tell your story in which:
  • You saw two Chinese people acting like assholes and proceeded to judge Chinese people in general for it

I'm not one to rush to play this "card", but that's literal racism.

I know you also factored in the reactions of the other people. (Not even going to go into what kind of person calmly watches two humans get brutally beaten maybe-to-death.) But imagine if this happened in the US. With our difficult history, let's say it was 2 black people. There's a certain kind of person who would hang around afterwards, spouting information about that race and their perception of them. Just some food for thought...

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I don't think it's racism and for you to throw that out shows that you missed the forest for the trees.

Also, who said I calmly watched? It was wild and I thought the guys were dead. I wasn't calm at all. You're filling in blanks to my story that are not true. Don't do that. You assumed a too much and were wrong on every assumption. You could read the other comments in this thread for some confirmation of the problem with Chinese people (not all of them so don't assume that again).

So because of your assumptions I feel I need to clarify what I meant. I meant that from the stories I have heard from Thais about the Chinese, they are a real nuisance. I based my opinion on the Thai stories combined with my time in Hong Kong before China took over. Not even that long ago Hong Kong was my favorite place in the world. Then China came and did China things. The culture has changed and the people are different. Obviously not all, that would be an over generalization. There is something going on in Chinese culture that is just as bad as the MAGA in America. Is it racist if I say my fellow Americans are bad? Because I think a sizable portion are.

I shared that story because it was the most prominent, recent, and relevant but there are plenty of others if you want to hear them. Actually I have a story that happened today about some extremely rude russians. They were obvious draft dodgers and causing problems for those around them. Would that story be racist?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

You must have never dealt with Chinese tourists. It's not racism as much as directly observable behaviour of many Chinese tourists, especially towards other Asians or black people. It shouldn't be surprising that many people in mainland China are radicalised, and it comes as no surprise that's how they behave outside their country.

Fuck's sake. I ~~drink~~ drank that beer. My local supermarket stocks it.

That leaves me with the choice of APAs, chilled stout or Australian beer.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Chinese authorities are investigating after a viral video appeared to show a worker from Tsingtao urinating into a tank, believed to contain ingredients for its popular beer.

In the clip which appeared online on Thursday, a worker, dressed in uniform with a helmet on, can be seen climbing over a high wall and into the container before urinating inside it.

The location tag of the clip reads "Tsingtao beer No.3 factory", local news outlet The Paper reported on Friday.

In a statement published on Friday, the bureau of market supervision and administration of Pingdu City, where the factory is located, said they immediately set up a team and conducted an on-site investigation after spotting the video, and sealed the whole batch of ingredients that appeared in the clip.

"A piss that will ruin a lot of money, this worker has done some real damage here," a top-liked comment on X-like platform Weibo reads.

Shares in Tsingtao Brewery fell sharply when the Shanghai Stock Exchange opened on Monday morning but were trading broadly flat by the afternoon.
