Because having to block 2 fanaticus communities every time a game is finished because there's a post in the winning and losing teams community is rapidly getting old, and I have no idea how many teams of how many different sports exist on that server, but it seems like a hell of a lot.

Any clue when 0.19 is supposed to drop?

Because it can't happen soon enough to get rid of this sportsball spam.

and porn. i dont want to be in the waiting room of my doctor's office looking like a perv, but i also don't want to block all nsfw content and miss out on half of the funny stuff.

Wtf, I'm not seeing any porn even though I'd like that. Is the issue with Eternity or is Sopuli.xyz some sort of prude server or what?

Sopuli defederated from lemmynsfw, which is the main porn instance. I have an alt there, which is nice for times when I don't want someone to look over at my screen and see something NSFW.

Well fuck, I didn't know this was a prude instance. Time to hop to another one I guess. I wonder what's the best balance of having not defederated from others and has not been defederared by others.

Eternity has a "disable NSFW" button btw, if you want an alternative to using a different instance to block NSFW. Haven't tested it out though.

The best balance is to run your own instance like I do

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

That's a really interesting idea. I might actually look into that.

I use the lemmy-easy-deploy script on a hetzner vps - they have servers in ashburn which is the location im using - cant recommend lemmy easy deploy enough - here is a link: https://github.com/ubergeek77/Lemmy-Easy-Deploy

there are a couple instances that did not defederate from "anything".

like lemm.ee.

Sounds like a liability.

I for some reason have a feed that’s sometimes 80% danish language posts. I do not speak danish, but do want to continue seeing posts in English, German, and Spanish, so I don’t want to set it to monolingual. It feels weirdly xenophobic (or something?), but I’m very excited to be able to block the feddit.dk instance.

I'm curious as well, is there an official Lemmy community to follow?

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 year ago

I'm using Sync on android.

The ability to block a whole instance / server has been added. I am pleased.

Connect app has instance block, is that what you mean?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

I think they merged something just yesterday for it? Looks like the GitHub issue was closed as "completed"

If you’re on iOS, Memmy (app) has the ability to block entire communities as well as individuals and filter specific words too.
