Loops are required for any kind of repeating code. Some applications apply the same algorithm many times such as applying a filter to each pixel of an image, others run the same code forever like your thermostat

I think you might be confused.
Or perhaps very enlightened.
No, no, that's iteration. Loops are how I get my daily servings of froot.
I’m happy with my For Loops. They’re just great!
It's just another platform for people to share video.
If you think the videos are dumb, then try leading by example and share some smarts...
The point is to share video.
For the fediverse to rule as the dominant form of digital social communication then we must saturate all markets. Yes short form video is shit but we need a federated alternative to every service. More open uncensored communication for all people will only be good.
The fediverse will never rule any social media or anything of the sort. Non tech people are turned off by picking a server during account creation. Not to mention all of the drama between instances. Fediverse is just for nerds. Loops is tiktok for nerds.
My friend u are striving for mediocrity. We have a real chance with reddit.
As I have been saying for a long time our biggest issue is that we don't have fediversal accounts. My account should be nothing more than a private key used to sign my actions that I can log into on any instance.
You have to make it as simple as signing up for Reddit/Facebook/TikTok if you want it to take off. Even a whiff of private key and you start losing normal people. You end up with only tech nerds, or privacy nerds, or some other kind of nerd on your platform. Picking an instance is already too much for most people.
I think u may be able to do keys with a passkey which is being pushed by apple and google as something built directly into ur phone.
The signup process would then theoretically be visit site get redirected to any instance get prompted to create account by built in system prompt and ur done.
It seems to be in the spirit of vine, which I never got into because it was just a bunch of random stupid shit.
Also, where the hell is the volume control on loops? It is so fucking loud.
IDK about other clients but Tesseract and Mlem (at least on the 2.0 beta) both embed loops videos so they play the same as any other video
Or mute!
aw I miss vine. amazing what could be done in seven seconds, out of the endless sea of stupidity we occasionally got absolute gold like the maracas guy, watermelone, and free shevacadoo....good times lol
I blocked all the communities as they came up. I guess it's meant to compete with TikTok or yt shorts or whatever, but I've never been into that type of content and what I saw here didn't change that
fediverse content comes from users just like with lemmy/mbin. At one point there was little content here.
I also have not found much in the way of appealing content, but I imagine that is just an issue with the user base. It’s also still in beta for iOS, so there just aren’t that many people putting out content.
I am curious as to its prospective role in the fediverse. Is the idea that it is analogous to instagram reels or other such videos interspersed throughout a twitter feed in addition to a standalone app?
I don't use loops, but I used tiktok for a long time and short form video isn't bad. You get some pointless/garbage stuff, but it can totally be great for sharing information, or memes. The point is whatever users want it to be.
I don't use my phone to browse if I'm in the office or the house, I use my PC web browser, logging into loos (oh man i wish i could put those two accent marks over o's), and i'm just met with my own upload page as the splash page, no place to see "trending" or "new" no way to browse creators, just a whole lotta nuthin, and so it much like fredo is dead to me and will remain that way
Did they ever make a mobile app for Loops for Android? Couldn't find it.
Right now, half the content posted to Loops is just freebooted TikTok videos, so browsing the main feed is kind of obnoxious. The lack of any algorithms also shows just how important curation is to a platform's user experience.
Nothing. if, for, while - they are all just fancy dancy wrappers around the real heroes, the only things we need - cmp and bl
It’s just a lame user base right now.
Loops? Like Fruit Loops? I mean you wouldn't be wrong, fruit loops are a big bowl of stupid.
