Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

To be clear, the new Health Secretary:

  • Is known to pick up roadkill and put it in his car to eat later,
  • Has contracted a brain worm from eating under-cooked roadkill,
  • Doesn't believe vaccinations work (they do),
  • Believes vaccinations cause autism (they don't).

We are looking down the barrel of a HPAI H5N1 epidemic and this is who is going to lead the nation's health systems.

Don't forget he has stated under oath that he clearly has mental difficulties.

I stole this meme pic from somebody else's post a week or two ago. Here it will again find relevance

[–] thedeadwalking4242 27 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The worst thing about his brain worm is that when the found it, it was fucking dead. Not even a brain worm could find anything of value up there

The administration figuring out who is the absolute worst person for each job and confirming them ASAP as possible

It's called kakistocracy. As a German, I think it's a perfect term because it also sounds like "Kacke", which means shit.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 23 hours ago

That's the perfect word for it. The Wikipedia article could use an update with this current example we have on our hands

Just like last time, yet here we are

Why do we even have confirmation hearings?

[–] Bonesince1997 13 points 1 day ago

Probably to sanitize and legitimize these cretins.

The solution to expensive healthcare is to not have any healthcare worth paying for.

Everybody expects the Spanish Speakers Flu inquisition.

Maybe you guys can pick up your daily Xbio Supplements at morning church so you can kiss the portraits and get to work faster.

Really makes you wonder about the bullet we dodged with gaetz dropping out. These idiots probably would have confirmed him too.

The one thing i hope for is that he actually follows through on ending those corn subsidies

  1. Economic Strain on Farmers: Many Iowa farmers depend on subsidies to offset production costs. Without them, smaller farms could struggle to compete, while larger farms might consolidate further[1][6].

  2. Shift in Farming Practices: Kennedy has proposed redirecting subsidies toward regenerative agriculture, which could push farmers to adopt new practices. However, transitioning away from commodity crops like corn may be costly and time-intensive[6].

  3. Ripple Effects on Local Economies: Rural communities reliant on agriculture could suffer job losses as reduced farm incomes impact local businesses and cooperatives[2][6].

  4. Higher Food Prices: Reduced corn production could elevate prices for products dependent on corn, such as livestock feed and processed foods[2].
