1) Be nice and; have fun
Doxxing, trolling, sealioning, racism, and toxicity are not welcomed in AskLemmy. Remember what your mother said: if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. In addition, the site-wide Lemmy.world terms of service also apply here. Please familiarize yourself with them

3) No spam
Please do not flood the community with nonsense. Actual suspected spammers will be banned on site. No astroturfing.
4) NSFW is okay, within reason

5) This is not a support community.
It is not a place for 'how do I?', type questions.
If you have any questions regarding the site itself or would like to report a community, please direct them to Lemmy.world Support or email [email protected]. For other questions check our partnered communities list, or use the search function.
6) No US Politics.
Please don't post about current US Politics. If you need to do this, try [email protected] or [email protected]

I was born, and I took great offense at that.
My 16th birthday we were on a family vacation. I was upset that day cause I wanted to be with friends, my dad was pissed cause I was unhappy and didn't even tell me happy birthday. Sounds like not that big of a deal but to teen me it was devastating
Nothing
My 5th birthday. I had mumps, but my mother had already organised a birthday party for me, so I lay upstairs, confined to bed, listening to a roomful of other kids having fun downstairs.
This was a very long time ago, before children were routinely given the mumps vaccine.
Had to pay $200 for a covid test because my families insurance had just dropped me because I turned 24
In the US, the insurance should have continued until 26.
Are you sure your parents didn't drop you and blame the insurance?
Edit: I'm assuming you're in the US because of the lousy healthcare, but I suppose you could be in some other shithole country.
FYI this doesn't apply to Tricare (military healthcare), it's 21 in that case (with exceptions for full-time students).
Yeah I live in US. It honestly could be my parents but thats what happened sadly
These happened on different years but a really close friend died, one of my grandfathers died and my childhood dog died
Spent it in the hospital, drugged with some morphine shit that wasn't actually powerful enough to take away the pain.
Pancreatitis is no joke, kids.
What caused it?
That's a story and a half
In early 2020, after 5 years and 3 separate doctors I figured out why my belly hurt all the time. It was crohn's disease. But hey, good news, I could start treatment!
The first treatment we attempted, because we had to, was Azathioprine. It is provided freely by our government's free healthcare service, and it works for a lot of people.
Well it did put the crohn's into remission. After a month I took my first normal shit in eeeeh nine years?
Small problem, it was too toxic for my body and my pancreas rioted.
Anyway we started with Entyvio after I got over the pancreatitis, it is not provided by the government but my parents' health insurance covers it and we found a way.
First normal shit in 9 years? That's crazy. You wouldn't even remember what normal was after that long. Must've been quite a relief.
I almost took a photo of it in my phone to tell my friends about my great achievment.
TMI-ish, nasty
C.D. shits are insane by the way. When talking to normal people I call it 'diarrhea', but really it's more like vomiting out of your arse.
Got raped
Damn, reading the comments here really puts things in perspective. I was gonna say something about getting a bunch of Rick and Morty stuff despite having no interest in Rick and Morty, but damn y'all
I got murdered
How are you communicating with everyone?
Ghost in the machine.
The 9/11 suicide attacks. I didn't know until a couple days later that a relative died during it.
My dad fell quite ill after a blood transfusion (had been fighting CLL for ~25 years). He died 2 days later.
Our car burst a tire on the way to the indoor skydiving place. I haven't been there since.
indoor skydiving place
Those exist?
It's just a vertical wind tunnel with a net above a grate that you stand on. Once the airspeed reaches ~200km/h you can fall forward and you'll be pushed upwards.
Oh that's what it was. I thought maybe it was like a really tall building or something, like those ski slopes they have in Dubai because they don't know where to put all their money.
yea, i'm not big fan, but those places surely have one. anyway, the fact that their tire burst on the way, kinda blows
An actual hurricane took out my power for a week and blocked roads near me for days.
Are you talking hurricane Milton or a different one? I have really not been thorough too many hurricanes, but Milton was absolutely wild to me. Couldn't even get gasoline for a solid week and some people I knew didn't even have drinking water. It felt mildly apocalyptic.
A different one, although I'd prefer not to dox myself. Thankfully we still had running water (although those with well water did not), but I know what you mean about gasoline. The national guard had to be posted at gas stations as they came back online.
Not as bad as others thankfully but mine is: the world shut down due to a global pandemic.
Had a really bad flu, but was supposed to turn up to my first day of apprenticeship. Awkward enough to be introduced on your birthday, but I also looked and sounded like shit. Could also not relax in the evening, because my now ex had a broken collarbone and could not shower without help, so I had to drive to his flat. He had no one else to help him. Got no thanks for that.
