I can't imagine the cognitive dissonance these fascists are going to deal with.

Four years? In ten years from now, the elections of 2024 will be called the 'Last Elections' and President Musk will arrest people who will call for their return.

[–] Duamerthrax 4 points 1 hour ago

I'm expecting a total collapse before that happens.

[–] FlashMobOfOne -5 points 1 hour ago* (last edited 1 hour ago) (2 children)

If you want to lose in 2028, just stick with that smug nonsense, even though you know it doesn't work to win people to your side. Dems have spent the last three elections driving away votes they need if they want to win, and eventually you're going to have to learn to engage with people in a reasonable way if that's what you want.

It is wild, though, that after three disastrous elections in a row (and yes, I"m counting Biden barely squeaking to a win as disastrous) you still think it's a good idea to annoy the shit out of everyone in your social circle.

There is nothing smug about this. This post isn’t about winning people to “our” side. It’s about a dark acceptance of the downfall of society. One that anyone who’s been paying attention has seen coming for a long time. We vote, we gripe online. It does nothing. Because it’s designed to do nothing. We recognize it yet, it’s all we can do. We either hold hands or we fight. Either way we burn together.

Yeahhhh grab em by the p, alt Reich!!!

[–] FlashMobOfOne 0 points 57 minutes ago (2 children)

I'm not alt-right.

I'm not even a Trump supporter.

I can, however, look at the last three elections and watch the results of you and yours making it very clear you don't want people's votes. Making people despise you isn't working.

Brexit is still delivering all the "I told you so"s. It's less fun than it sounds.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 hour ago

Yeah there seems to be this palpable expectation on Lemmy that any day now half of the voting public is going to have some realisation and say "oh my god what have we done".

It doesn't work like that though.

Most of the actual retarded things Trump said he would do like the tariffs et cetera will be done in performative way. Done in a way that isn't too disruptive or harmful but still lets him say he stuck it to China.

The more insidious project 2025 stuff isn't applied in real time. How does the media report on the slow corrosion of quality of life and rights to privacy et cetera.

[–] Zorque 22 points 3 hours ago

Yeah, people keep saying "This time they'll see!" But, aside from the occasional "leopards ate my face" moment, the same people keep lining up for more of the same.

And much of the consequences are sloughed off on the people who are fighting hardest against it.

They're fucking around, and we end up finding out.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 4 hours ago

Still pretty fun not being in the UK. Though I do feel bad for everyone not having voted for this shit.

[–] Kushan 25 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

It's been nearly 10 years and we're still getting fucked by it.

[–] JustZ 6 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

God damn has it been that long?

[–] Kushan 7 points 3 hours ago

Well it depends on if you count from when we voted for it or when we actually did it.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

México too, we go with «Disfruten lo votado», bitches get mad about it

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago) (1 children)

What does it mean and whats the context? Actually curious as an ignorant non spanish speaking EU person.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 hour ago* (last edited 1 hour ago) (2 children)

In English, it's more or less telling people to "enjoy what you (all) voted for".

No, it's not going to be "I told you so."

Conservatives will still blame Biden and dems for all the problems.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Also, there's a lot of people that will say, "don't be mean to them, that never changes their mind!" "talk to them, be empathetic"

Man, anyone suffering after voting for Trump deserves a big "fuck you".

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 hour ago

Yeah, I will never forgive a 2024 Trump voter. They know who they voted for, they know who he is. No excuses this time. Trump voters claiming ignorance this time will not be accepted.

[–] batmaniam 1 points 3 hours ago

Don't forget the "I wish dems did better!". You and me. Both but... Buckle up.

[–] kautau 25 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Yup, they still deflect to Hillary's emails and shit when you call out new cabinet positions. If we could harness their mental gymnastics into physical energy we'd solve the climate crisis.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 hours ago

Over Christmas my mom showed me her new "Lock Her Up!" shirt. It's been almost 10 years since Clinton has been relevant, move on.

[–] [email protected] 30 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

We told you the government doesn’t work! Just look how the government we elected doesn’t work.

[–] [email protected] 22 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

That's Conservative Playbook 101. Take something working well, intentionally break it, complain that it's broken and needs to be privatized, rinse and repeat.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

What is the US Postal Service?

[–] Passerby6497 11 points 6 hours ago

It's the government office that handles mail delivery, but that's not important right now.

[–] themeatbridge 17 points 8 hours ago

Right, there's no satisfaction in pointing out the results of a conservative power grab. Their narcissism makes them immune to introspection or self-awareness.

[–] CitizenKong 4 points 7 hours ago

It's the deeeeeep state!

Bold of you to think it will end in 4 years.

[–] JustZ 5 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

I'm saying. Like are we even going to have an election in 4 years? The dude violates every Norm, every tradition.

The small part of my brain that is conspiratorial be like, he's not moving the inauguration inside because of the weather or any threat, it's for the optics, It's for watering down the ceremony of the transfer of power, because he doesn't intend to have another one.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 hour ago

The authoritarian right will keep pushing until people push back harder.

[–] batmaniam 6 points 3 hours ago

2016: "it's no like roe is going away! People are over reacting!" 2024: "...."

[–] [email protected] 36 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

"You fuckers asked for this so either shut up or move"

Going to be the only thing keeping me going

[–] [email protected] 37 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

I'm buying a bunch of "I did that!" Trump stickers to slap on empty grocery shelves. That's gonna be fun.

[–] [email protected] 23 points 8 hours ago

Yep those things need to be EVERYWHERE after they had those dumbass Biden ones, and the best part is that this time they'll actually be correct

[–] rickdg 18 points 8 hours ago

Climate change wasn’t real enough for half the country, so now everyone has to suffer.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 8 hours ago

$20 eggs is merely part of the 29D chess move that will eventually make eggs free!

Just keep waiting.

[–] aeronmelon 7 points 9 hours ago

Just like when George left the production team of the HBO series.

[–] Allonzee -1 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago)

They will be extra shit years, but good years weren't on the ballot.

Our economy would have to undergo fundamental change to reign in greed and reckless metastasis for that.

(yes I voted for regular shit years out of harm reduction)
