And they can provide for them on much, much, much smaller wealths. The non ultra rich are doing it.

[–] [email protected] 59 points 2 weeks ago

yeah how could anyone be expected to provide for their families with less than a billion dollars

[–] [email protected] 49 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Their families are already provided for for the next five generations, at least, assuming they're all shite with money!

They generally raise such awful and dumb crotch spawn that it's gone. Trump for instance has no wealth like his dad did, for inexplicable reasons he's got credit and that's it.

[–] starchylemming 2 points 2 weeks ago

thats real tangible wealth you can buy stuff with credit credit you never intend to pay back

but you don't pay taxes since you have negative money

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 weeks ago

and each of them buying their own house

[–] [email protected] 38 points 2 weeks ago

With one billion dollars, I could comfortably provide for my family for ten thousand years. They'll be fine without them

[–] [email protected] 32 points 2 weeks ago

They’ve made billions not caring for anyone else’s family. Why should anyone care about theirs?

[–] [email protected] 19 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

They could provide for hundreds of millions of families.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Yo, I'm damn sure an anticapitalist, but the numbers are way off here. $1B split by 100M works out to $10 per family.

[–] nieminen 4 points 2 weeks ago

You forget they're usually multi-billionaires at this point. So could be anywhere from $10-30 per person.

Is there a specifically anti-billionaire Lemmy community one could join?

[–] [email protected] 26 points 2 weeks ago

That is Lemmy!

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I feel like this is most lemmy communities? What pro-billionaire lemmy communities are there?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 weeks ago

Actually a more interesting question than you think. When asked "should billionaires exist?" Almost everyone on Lemmy would respond "no," I suspect, but when asked "should we be working towards Communism?" I suspect the answer is far more mixed. Depending on your personal views, someone can say they oppose billionaires but not support actual practical methods of reducing them, just saying "increase taxes" as though they would ever let that happen.

Hexbear.net and Lemmygrad.ml are the largest explicitly Leftist instances on Lemmy.

What Leftist instance is larger?

[–] teslasaur 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Instances, not community. Lemmy.ml for example?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 weeks ago

Lemmy.ml, the admins have told me before, isn't a Leftist instance. It is moderated and admin'd by Leftists, but it's ultimately more of a testbench flagship instance, not a main instance. Hexbear is more active than Lemmy.ml as far as I know anyways.

Also, my original comment was about instances, I misspoke when I said Community.

Antiwork and Workreform are good

[–] Visstix 15 points 2 weeks ago

They can provide for multiple generations when they die.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 2 weeks ago

Nobody thinks of the billionaires, it's so unfair.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 weeks ago

This makes a nice companion to the meme that ends with the rich guy saying “fuck off” to something reasonable that involves helping other humans.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 weeks ago

Piccolo would not be making this argument. If anybody would it would be Turles there.

[–] LavaPlanet 3 points 2 weeks ago

Meh, they've got enough money for therapy.
