This guy really thinks he's never gonna die. I'll be surprised if he survives this upcoming term, and not even from a Minecraft related cause, just poor health.

[–] Alexstarfire 43 points 1 month ago (5 children)

What is a "Minecraft related cause?"

[–] Fuckfuckmyfuckingass 39 points 1 month ago

When you're talking about actionable threats, I.E. real world violence, but want to appear only hypothetical, the meme is, "I'd kill X in Minecraft.".

[–] evidences 38 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Creepers in the White House, it's a known problem in the dark corners of the building. Half of what the secret service does in the morning is clear the building of creepers that spawned over night when no one was around to block hostile mob spawns.

Death by Ender Dragon.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 month ago (4 children)

A lot of dumb people thought they could talk about killing politicians on the Internet if they ended their message with "in Minecraft" so they could claim they were just taking about a game. At least one of them has already been arrested proving their plan doesn't actually provide any defense.

So a Minecraft cause would be someone plotting (and then presumably actually) killing them.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I'm sorry, a 'Minecraft related cause'?

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

He got the wrong ideas from all these god emporer memes back in the day.

“He jokes all the time,” said Rep. Eli Crane, R-Ariz., who was in the room at the time. “I think it's one of the problems with politics is you can't even tell a joke without being excoriated.”

Definitely, that's the problem in politics. Ffs.

[–] ikidd 32 points 1 month ago

"excoriated"

That's certainly a $10 word for a Republican.

[–] Mirshe 11 points 1 month ago

I think you should be able to DISTINGUISH it's a joke. Also, as anyone who does politics will tell you, ANYTHING that comes out of your mouth into any form of microphone can and should be expected to be used against you, and should be expected to be believed.

"Joking" in politics should've died with Reagan's press sec laughing about gay men dying of AIDS.

[–] FlyingSquid 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Any time he says anything that gets significant negative pushback, it is dismissed as a joke.

Same thing with the rest of them. It's always a joke unless you agree with them.

Let's hope the next 4 years are tough on the felon, he may not even make it to 2028 🤞🏼

[–] Poach 51 points 1 month ago (5 children)

I'm not convinced Vance or Johnson is any better than the orange baffoon .

[–] FlyingSquid 30 points 1 month ago (1 children)

They would be worse. A dumb Nazi is preferable to a smart Nazi.

[–] [email protected] 23 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Upside is the cult of personality is attached to Trump, and no one else has been able to pull it off him. Trump is only effective because somehow, for some insane reason, he, personally, has a lot of devoted followers.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The cult is attached to Trump, yes. But when he dies his followers won't suddenly wake up from their madness and flock behind a "normal candidate".

They will still go for the crazy ones who act and talk the way Trump did. There may not be a second Trump, but they are lost nevertheless.

Yep. When a dictator dies, it doesn't necessarily lead to democracy and prosperity because the system is broken, and the next person simply assumes the absolute power.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 1 month ago (6 children)

Will the MAGAs back Vance without Trump?

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 month ago

He doesn't have "D" next to his name and has shown no indication of rationality, so yes.

[–] Mirshe 7 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Some will, some won't. Cults of personality don't tend to fare well without their personality, and Vance has all the charisma of a used tissue, so it'll come down to how skillfully he can navigate things.

Remember, a LOT of right-wing Christians think Trump is either a prophet, an agent of God, or (in some cases) literally Christ Himself. That's an awful hard act to follow when your prophet doesn't get taken up to heaven in a fiery chariot, or your Messiah doesn't rise again after 3 days.

He won't need to run. He already said he will be a dictator. Dictators don't need elections.

This is what we get.

Revolution is the answer. Killing the rich.

The 22nd amendment to the US Constitution bars Trump as a viable candidate for the Office of the President. It would require an additional amendment to be possible and there's no way that 3/4ths of all US states will agree to that shit.

The only potential loophole that I can discern is that there's no clear consensus on if Trump would be allowed to run as Vice-President on someone else's ticket. If he can, then, theoretically, he could run for VP and then have the elected President immediately resign, making him the President again.

[–] [email protected] 41 points 1 month ago (2 children)

...there's no way that 3/4ths of all US states will agree to that shit.

We've had an extraordinary number of "there's no way that..." moments in the past decade most of which have been connected to Trump, why tempt fate like that? The 2024 election map has more than the 38 red states needed to ratify a constitutional amendment.

So right at the end of the 12th amendment there's this line.

But no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States.

So as of his presidential win this election he's ineligible to be vice president.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The Supreme Court will just "interpret" that away.

[–] evidences 11 points 1 month ago

With as much as this Supreme Court is riding Trump's dick I wouldn't put it past them to rule in his favor if this made it to them.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 month ago

The 22a says he can't be elected. But that doesn't make him ineligible to serve. The wording presents a loophole that our highly partisan Supreme Court could drive a truck through.

Or he's gonna wipe his ass with the Constitution in an X live stream and declare Jan 6 "National Patriots Day" while Fox commentators claim he's joking.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 1 month ago

I no longer believe the process and laws of our government will apply to this administration. We'll see.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 month ago

If they do it, it will be by suspending the constitution entirely. Don't need any states for that.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 month ago

The 14th amendment didn't stop him from running again, I fail to see what the 22nd amendment would do.

So overturn or amend? Like I’m kinda surprised he’s even taking the constitution into consideration. Like he’s weird, he doesn’t seem to want to acknowledge that once he’s done all he says he wants to do the United States of America will no longer exist. Caesar could not cross the rubicon and rule the republic, he could only control Rome. Nor could Napoleon take full control of the French Republic. Republics are finicky things like that, a dictator can only ever hold their land, not the thing itself.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 month ago

I don't think his brain works like that.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 1 month ago

I mean, we might as well just go all in. It seems like most everyone is running headlong into apocalypse anyway.

I just don't have the capacity for this. Ugh.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 1 month ago

If you ask Trump, this IS his third term, so no, he's not joking.

[–] Cheems 18 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Well, with having control of literally every aspect of the government they actually could change this country for the worse. However, it's theoretically possible that some of them grow a spine.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 1 month ago (2 children)

More likely is they tie themselves into a giant king rat of greed.

Fuck it, nothing matters anymore; they’ll do “something” and we’ll vote him in again

Who cares whether he’ll be 82 by then, age clearly wasn’t the issue this time

[–] Captain_Patchy 10 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It's going to be hard to campaign from a New York state jail cell for the next 4 years. The DOJ may have rules about a sitting president but he was neither when he committed the crimes he has already been convicted of in NY state court.

[–] [email protected] 63 points 1 month ago (3 children)

He will never go to jail, he will never suffer any consequences of his past and future actions. Unfortunately it is what it is.
