IMO, he is definitely the Christians' mascot. not only due to how much they support him, but also because he reflects the bigotry and ignorance they so deeply cherish.

[–] [email protected] 33 points 11 months ago (10 children)

As a frustrated Christian, I think I'd say it's most accurate to say that Trump embodies Conservatives, Republicans, and Evangelicals, all of whom have apparently no clear code of conduct or definition beyond "seize power, worship the perceived strong man, crush the marginalized."

Christian, though...there's a least a definition there ("follower of Christ") that excludes Trump — not only does Trump not care at all about Christ except as an incantation to get votes, but he directly contradicts the things Christ taught.

[–] ExtraMedicated 13 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Exactly. These people are not Christians. They act exactly like the people Jesus rebuked for being hypocrites. It's uncanny.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 11 months ago

I mean they must be the majority because the other christians can't keep them out of office even adding in the non christian vote. It is funny that anyone can take the prosperity doctrine seriously. christ is rolling in his stone.

[–] livedeified 2 points 11 months ago

they say they're christian, who am I to judge? I think it's more important to consider how much of a monster yahweh is, and why anyone would want to be associated with it.

[–] TechyDad 4 points 11 months ago

I'm Jewish, not Christian so I'm not too up to speed on Christ. I also don't believe in the anti-Christ. That being said, there was an article a while back that laid out all the qualities that the anti-Christ will supposedly have. Trump embodied all of them.

Like I said, I don't believe in an anti-Christ, but if I was told that the anti-Christ not only existed, but was alive right now, I'd wager on it being Donald Trump.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 11 months ago

right? the swedish curch gets it right: god has infinite compassion and jesus preached of acceptance, thus the logical conclusion is that a good christian is compassionate and accepting, which is the polar opposite of trump and a depressing amount of people who claim to be christian..

He's American evangelical christianity's pope and messiah. For republican protestants he's more like the monster they've been feeding children to in their basement that got loose. And to republican catholics I guess he's like a child molesting priest they just kinda pretend isn't a child molester.

[–] Riccosuave 2 points 11 months ago

And to Atheists he is the embodiment of the ignorance, authoritarianism, and hypocrisy that the church has always been willing to either align with or turn a blind eye in order to accomplish the end goal of selling the salvation of the stupid masses back to them in exchange for money, power, and control.

[–] livedeified 1 points 11 months ago

there are some striking similarities between him and Yahweh. maybe they're really onto something! 🤣

[–] skepticalifornia 27 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Evangelicals who follow Trump lose all of their ability to preach morals to anyone else. What a bunch of fucking hypocrites.

[–] livedeified 8 points 11 months ago (1 children)

they didn't have any to begin with. what kind of person thinks it's a good idea to worship something that demands human sacrifice? or commands genocide? endorses slavery, considers women to be second class, drowns an entire planet, condemns his children to eternal torture..... need I go on?

[–] madcaesar 4 points 11 months ago

The most fucked up thing about the flood myth, to me despite the global genocide, is that this idiot God, in order to restart also just casually nukes every single animal.... All those animals drowning and suffering an agonizing death as they keep swimming until they are too exhausted and drown...

They did NOTHING to deserve that kind of cruelty... Yet religious people look at that story and don't bat an eye...

How utterly cruel and incompetent is your God of that a global flood is the answer?

But... It gets worse... He's also supposed to be all knowing, so he made the "original" humans KNOWING he'd have to wipe them all out.....

I mean.... That story is so bizzare and stupid, and idiotic and childish... For a grown ass adult to believe any of it, other than as some fucked up fantasy moral punishing story is just beyond fucked up.

It's surprising the new flexibility these mental gymnasts are demonstrating.

8 years ago it was, "But he goes to church. He says he loves the bible, so yeah. He closed his eyes when we prayed for him and laid hands on him and he didn't burst into flame. You know, it's all a wash after you've asked for forgiveness."

Now it's "We are smart enough to elect a president, not a pastor."

Ya sure about that one, biscuit?

They're not even hiding the fact they think he's a piece of shit. He's just a piece of shit who falls in line with their view of social dominance and control.

“And Christ said unto them, let he who hasn’t raw-dogged a pornstar and paid her hush money or for an abortion cast the first stone.”

It’s literally right there in the Bible.

Golf Clap..... 👏👏👏🫡

[–] daikiki 15 points 11 months ago (1 children)

'Conservative' Christians aren't Christian in any meaningful sense of the word.

[–] Ensign_Crab 10 points 11 months ago

How many more centuries of Christians acting like Christians is it gonna take before we drop this "no true Scotsman" nonsense? This behavior comes from the same impulse as the crusades, the inquisition, witch trials, Christian support for chattel slavery, Christian support for anti-miscegenation laws, Christian support for segregation, Christian opposition to abortion, Christian opposition to gay marriage, Christian opposition to the very existence of trans people, Christian complicity in abuse and genocide of indigenous people, Christian protection of clergy that abuse children, and I'm certain there's dozens or perhaps even hundreds of things I've left out.

Christians are acting exactly like Christians when they support a bigoted rapist grifter.

[–] btaf45 10 points 11 months ago

[“I am certain that many Christians in the MAGA movement earnestly believe Trump has been ‘anointed’ for this purpose — to bring about certain political outcomes they desire,”]

LOLOLOL. Imagine how utterly pathetic Yahweh would have to be to need the help of Convicted Sex Offender Treason Trump.,

[–] girlfreddy 9 points 11 months ago

America's idea of what a hero really is has cratered into swamp land.

The hell that orange kumquat should be seen as anything but a pig with lipstick smeared all over, to cover up the boils and rot of his very existence.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 11 months ago (3 children)

There is nothing less Christ-like than today's Christians.

This makes perfect sense when you remember that most self-proclaimed Christians are every bit as anti-christ as Trump.

[–] MossBear 5 points 11 months ago

For the people who think they're being persecuted for being Christians, do they honestly think people who have such negative opinions if they emulated say, Mr. Rogers instead of Trump?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 11 months ago

How is Trump not the embodiment of Christian values? Last time I checked, the Bible didn't have any kind of rules about adultery, coveting, stealing, bearing false witness, or having graven images of yourself worshipped by a cult-like fanbase.

And I guarantee you I can go toe-to-toe with the majority of these Christians on Bible knowledge and the teachings of Jesus.

[–] btaf45 4 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

The sheer decadence of the church establishment that Convicted Sex Offender Treason Trump has exposed will be the beginning of the death of Christianity.

Robert Jeffress, the first preacher mentioned, is notorious in Dallas for swindling old folks out of their children's inheritances. He has a full time team devoted to it, and he is constantly losing followers so he has a ton of TV commercials to get new victims to his church.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 11 months ago (5 children)

They see him as a means to an end.

Like literally THE end. They want the end of the world so they can be picked up in Jesus's AMC Pacer.

If you don't think he drives a Pacer, you don't know ya scripture.

[–] FuglyDuck 1 points 11 months ago

Naw. He drives an old school lifted bronco. It’s body panels were all originally different colors, but are now universally “rust”, with flood lights, a mounted stag head, loose beer cans, truck nuts. Used condoms in the back.

It's his favorite book! What a fucking clown. Shame on anyone that believes the shit he's selling. At least if you're going to lie like that, go a millimeter deeper and have an example bible quote that's innocuous that you can spout off. Absolute morons.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 11 months ago

We all remember that one verse in the Bible, "The Lord doth love the thief, the rapist, the defiler, and the swindler." I think it was in 2 Corinthians.

[–] GustavoM 1 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

I know this is a typical "orange man bad" post, but... who on earth would want to (unironically and financially) support a politician? It's like supporting something worse than an ex-gf.
