The shirts are abhorrent, but no sense in mocking someone who might need something like that for legitimate reasons. Make fun of them for being a moron and supporting the party that would make the medical care their daughter might one day need to survive illegal in all circumstances.

if you're a woman teacher and a kid asks you about your spouse, and you say you have a wife, you're grooming. making a child wear a t-shirt that says "hoe" is totally family friendly though.

It's the baby trailer that gets me. Kinda adorable.
I like that the little girl and the (older sister?) aren't wearing the shirts, it shows there's some sort of agency among them even if there was undoubtably pressure to conform and wear the shirt with the rest of the family.

How do you explain to your kids what you mean by "Hoe"?
That's a really easy one. A hoe (with the "e") is a gardening tool mostly used for digging narrow trenches, shaping soil, and weeding.
It's a really good thing those shirts didn't say "Ho" because that's way more complicated and should probably include a lesson on why "slut shaming" is wrong.
I think you're missing the racism angle on calling a black woman a ho, but maybe it's good that that's not obvious anymore.
Well, i was mostly just making a joke but the racism falls into the "more complicated" part of explaining the meaning and origin of the word ho to a kid. I think we're both on the same page in thinking that if you did have to explain that shirt to a child, it's important to educate them on why it's wrong to call someone that.
They explain is as what mommy does at work.
I sadly expect that some common answers are “shut the fuck up” and “she’s just another n—- whore.”
