Please, I beg of you, this mustn't be real 😭

Bruh, there's a ghost in that journal and she fucks him.

This episode also has the most poorly acted sneeze ever put to film.

Does... does crusher read his mother's horny gost-fucking diary...?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 months ago

I thought it was a candle ghost

What does the nobody: mean? I've always wondered.

[–] [email protected] 25 points 4 months ago

Its basically "nobody asked for this, but here it is"

[–] Stamets 22 points 4 months ago (1 children)

The nobody stands for never thinking nor asking the particular thing that follows

Like, nobody else ever thought or said this, then star trek did? It's meant to point out how unusual or weird something is? Is that right?

[–] Stamets 17 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Sorry, I was unclear there. I had my wording all fucked up.

There are two parts to the 'nobody' thing. The first is the word nobody and then the second is the silence after it. It's to denote that no one anywhere had ever thought or heard a particular thing. Then another group comes in as part of the meme and asks that particular question. To turn the meme into a sentence it would be:

"Not a single living soul in creation had ever expressed this idea but suddenly, one day, a group of Star Trek fans asked something fucked up for the very first time."

Whether it's fucked up or interesting or whatever is denoted by the general context or feeling that the question/idea gives. In this case it would be fucked up.

Thank you, that's very helpful indeed.

Literally no different than boning a holodeck character, change my mind.

[–] TotallynotJessica 11 points 4 months ago (1 children)

If the holodeck character was related to you maybe.

[–] _stranger_ 7 points 4 months ago (1 children)

The ghost was related to her in the same way her grandma's house was.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 months ago (1 children)

The weirder thing is how into the diary she was, which then made the ghost sex weird by association. If she just learned it was a family sex ghost and rolled with it, totally fine.

Also I know it’s just storytelling/scriptwriting bs but it’s SO weird that the first proper beat of the episode is her SAYING THIS SHIT.

[–] _stranger_ 1 points 4 months ago

Yeah! It's like, how good of a writer was grandma? Was it really the writing or was the "ghost" leaving some kind of "psychic imprint" on the journal? It's only ever implied, and vaguely. It's such a bad episode, I can't help but love it.

There's a meme my wish I had saved where she rattles off this list of accomplishments she's had over entire career, and then wraps it up with "but you fuck one damned ghost" or some such. If anybody has that saved somewhere, may I request you post it? It's a great one.

The original:

Two Scotsman were sitting on top of a hill that overlooked their small village. During a break in the conversation, one man lets out a sigh as he's looking down at his village, and his friend asks him what's wrong.

"Look at that town down there." he replied. "You see the bridge crossing the river that leads into our village? I built that bridge with my own two bare hands. But do they call me McGregor, the Bridgebuilder? No.

"And you see the Church in the middle of our village, overlooking the square? Well I built that Church with my own two bare hands. And do they call me...McGregor, the Churchbuilder? No."

He pauses, and looks over at his friend. "But fuck ONE sheep."
