Rules (interactive)

Rule 1- All posts must begin with TIL. Linking to a source of info is optional, but highly recommended as it helps to spark discussion.

** Posts must be about an actual fact that you have learned, but it doesn't matter if you learned it today. See Rule 6 for all exceptions.**

Rule 2- Your post subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material.

Your post subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material. You will be warned first, banned second.

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding non-TIL posts.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-TIL posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.

If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

For further explanation, clarification and feedback about this rule, you may follow this link.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here.

In 2022, Madison Dapcevich of Snopes, the fact-checking website, investigated Lotito's claim that he ate an entire airplane. She concluded that, although there are many accounts of Lotito's consumption of unusual objects, and that he "very likely" consumed such objects on stage as a professional entertainer, she was unable to confirm that Lotito ate an entire airplane, or even part of one.

Looks like there's no real record of him having eaten a plane. Likely a tall story he or his cohorts created.

The amount of metals, plastics, and other plane parts that he would have had to consume should have done lasting damage to his physiology.

If heground everything to a fine powder and juiced it then he is just left with the chemical reaction damage.

[–] ripcord 8 points 6 months ago

Yeah, the title should be "claimed to eat a plane".

[–] BeatTakeshi 8 points 6 months ago

One was pooping scrap, the other was scrapping poop

[–] [email protected] 60 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Journalist: So, how was it?

Lotito: Still better than English food!

[–] DaddleDew 21 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago) (1 children)

I can absolutely believe this would have been his answer.

French people cannot pass a chance to make fun of British cuisine.

[–] humorlessrepost 26 points 6 months ago

cuisine

It’s so bad, they have to use a french word to make it sound palatable.

[–] [email protected] 27 points 6 months ago

Lotito holds the record for the 'strangest diet' in the Guinness Book of Records. He was awarded a brass plaque by the publishers to commemorate his abilities. He ate his award.

I would expect nothing less.

Maddening that the article doesn’t list his cause of death. What did he die of??

Irony deficiency.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 6 months ago

Well, I’ll be damned. Also, the chompers on the man look exactly like what I’d expect for a plane-eater.

[–] Blumpkinhead 3 points 6 months ago

He tried to poop out an entire airplane.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 6 months ago (2 children)

That is an ancient looking 55 year old.

[–] espentan 4 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Eating a plane really accelerates the ageing process.

[–] postmateDumbass 2 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

Some say it adds dimension to you time line.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 6 months ago

Let me tell you his diet!

[–] apfelwoiSchoppen 15 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago) (3 children)

His colon and entire digestive system has to be absolutely wrecked.

[–] apfelwoiSchoppen 36 points 6 months ago

FWIW he died at age 55.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 6 months ago

It's not that bad : the plane wasn't made by Boeing.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

According to this article his stomach and intestines had unusual thick lining and strong gastric acids, so maybe they were not so bad.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Where does the man shit? I'd hate to be his landlord

[–] bassomitron 5 points 6 months ago

That's such a good point I hadn't considered. This stuff would've absolutely fucked up the plumbing in most places. Not to mention the sewage treatment facility's filters having to deal with all that debris.

[–] EarJava 7 points 6 months ago (1 children)

However, it also meant that soft foods, such as bananas and hard-boiled eggs, made him sick.

Hmm best example of soft food? Hard-boiled eggs!

[–] [email protected] 12 points 6 months ago (2 children)

Hard boiled eggs are pretty soft, tbh

[–] [email protected] 2 points 6 months ago

Soft boiled eggs are softer

[–] ripcord 2 points 6 months ago

I've never been a fan of how crunchy they are, though.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 6 months ago

When I read the title, my first guess was Tarare. Sounds like the kind of thing he'd've done if planes had been invented.

[–] Blumpkinhead 2 points 6 months ago

Imagine the gate agent having to tell the passengers why their flight is canceled.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 months ago

That's cute, but doesn't quite hold a candle to Tarrare.

Homie made a career out of pica. Like it or not he was a better entrepreneur than you or I.

[–] eran_morad -1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

One generally tries to manage or cure diseases and unhealthy conditions, not exacerbate them. If one is not a fucktard. My job ain’t kill me.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 months ago

Given he was born in 1950, he only died like 10 years below his life expectancy. People lose more than that to bad genes, I think he did alright for himself.
