For those that have had enough of the Elon Musk worship online.

No flaming, baiting, etc. This community is intended for those opposed to the influx of Elon Musk-related advertising online. Coming here to defend Musk or his companies will not get you banned, but it likely will result in downvotes. Please use the reporting feature if you see a rule violation.

Opinions from all sides of the political spectrum are welcome here. However, we kindly ask that off-topic political discussion be kept to a minimum, so as to focus on the goal of this sub. This community is minimally moderated, so discussion and the power of upvotes/downvotes are allowed, provided lemmy.world rules are not broken.

Post links to instances of obvious Elon Musk fanboy brigading in default subreddits, lemmy/kbin communities/instances, astroturfing from Tesla/SpaceX/etc., or any articles critical of Musk, his ideas, unrealistic promises and timelines, or the working conditions at his companies.

Tesla-specific discussion can be posted here as well as our sister community /c/RealTesla.

The first step in “no longer relevant celebrity comes out as conservative to cling to the fringes of stardom.”

I had no opinions on Katy Perry before this and now I do.

[–] waz 3 points 2 months ago

After reading the title, I thought "crap, I should probably know who Katy Perry is." After reading the comments, I don't think I'm going to bother looking them up.

X owner and Tesla founder Elon Musk

Somehow the piece of shit actually gaslit the entire world into thinking he founded anything else then the shit he made.

[–] postmateDumbass 19 points 2 months ago (1 children)

He found them owned by the people that created them?

[–] [email protected] 14 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

Maybe he thinks founded is the past tense of found.

[–] postmateDumbass 4 points 2 months ago

Pun disected successfully.

This probably shouldn't surprise me. She was originally a Christian musician before she figured out that she was talented enough to make serious money if she marketed herself on sex appeal.

[–] homesweethomeMrL 43 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Which is worse; that she said thank you to Elmo, or that she got a Cybertruck.

Mmmmm. Neither’s doing wonders for her image.

[–] DrSleepless 13 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Well, the truck got recalled, ha!

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Doesn't stop me from seeing at least 5 of those atrocities every single day

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

At least five a day? Damn. I’ve yet to see even one. I’ll probably laugh at whoever’s behind the wheel.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 months ago

California. See them everywhere. And yes I laugh every time. It's so fucking ugly. It just screams. Hey I'm a douchebag with too much money

[–] [email protected] 24 points 2 months ago (2 children)

The most generous possible take is that it's basic politeness to thank someone when they give you a new truck (even if it’s a shitty one). My question, though, is why did he give it to her? Out of all the celebrities he could have given one of those stupid cybertrucks to, why did he choose Perry?

I don’t know much about her. Does she have a history of problematic behavior that would make Musk think she’s a potential ally?

[–] FlyingSquid 27 points 2 months ago (1 children)

That's only generous if politeness was ever warranted when it comes to Elon Musk. It isn't. Everyone should be rude to him at every opportunity because he has shown himself to be irredeemably atrocious bigot and conspiracy monger.

[–] pivot_root 12 points 2 months ago

Squid, you get it. Musk is a thin-skinned hypocrite whose only actual contributions to society are vitriol and debunked ideas, and politeness is more than he deserves.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I read your comment, which seemed sensible. Then I saw the photo she posed for.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (2 children)

Ahh. I hadn’t seen the photo. Yeah, it’s a little much.

[–] WhyDoYouPersist 9 points 2 months ago

Thanks for linking. This is ridiculous but not unexpected from these ilk.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago

She might just want to die, but doesn't want to promote suicide to her fanbase.

[–] SteefLem 24 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I always though she had the light on but no one is really home.

[–] FlyingSquid 30 points 2 months ago (3 children)

She married Russell Brand, so she can't be too bright.

[–] ChicoSuave 13 points 2 months ago

She also left him, so, to her credit, it shows she can learn.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 months ago

Oh, this is new for me.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago

Wow. I only knew she married Orlando Bloomingonions. He seems just as whacko, just of a different kind.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 2 months ago

Every half-decade gets the Grimes it deserves

[–] FlyingSquid 16 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Katy Perry is still a thing?

[–] [email protected] 20 points 2 months ago

Not anymore

[–] boaratio 12 points 2 months ago

Whenever I'm angry, I like to watch this clip of Katie Perry getting absolutely rocked with slime at the Nickelodeon awards.

Too bad, I liked her in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

[–] FlexibleToast 11 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I can't tell if you're joking or not, but that's Zooey Deschanel.

[–] Moneo 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Pretty sure there is a meme about them looking the same.

[–] FlexibleToast 2 points 2 months ago

Yeah, that's why I can't tell if they're joking or serious...

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 months ago

'Your Highness' got a few laughs from me, and keira knightly did pretty OK in it as well

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago

The first was Grimes, now it's Katy Perry... Who will be the next singer I'll stop to listen to?
