I think that it’s very patriotic of Trump to set piles of money on fire that could otherwise be used to elect republicans to Congress or the senate.

[–] BustinJiber 8 points 10 months ago (2 children)

So he is using Republican money on himself rather than Republicans? You would think that's the big nono. Is it?

[–] [email protected] 13 points 10 months ago (1 children)

The Republican party has almost entirely debased itself.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 9 months ago

Almost entirely? Like, what would it take for you to say they've entirely debased themselves?

[–] GlendatheGayWitch 10 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Ted Cruz fought a case all the way to SCOTUS to allow unlimited campaign donations after an election has taken place. What makes you think other Republicans aren't using campaign and RNC money for themselves?

[–] FlashMobOfOne 5 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

They all are.

I would be surprised if every federal politician isn't doing it. You can loan your campaign money at 20% interest and pay yourself back with your donors' money legally. Being a Fed is a license to print your own profit.

Proud to be a 'murican. 🥹🇺🇲🦅

Trump was always going to drain any money he got access to, are they just learning this?

[–] ladicius 40 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Nah, he's s billionaire, he's swimming in money. He will pay all the bills any moment now.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 10 months ago (5 children)

He has assets he can liquidate. He might be out of money, but he is in no way "Out of money."

[–] [email protected] 25 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Well, when you don't have cash and can't get a line of credit to pay your financial responsibilties....you're going to have a bad time.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 10 months ago

It'll be a firesale when he has to hock all his shit out front of Trump Tower

[–] ladicius 7 points 10 months ago

Can he? When banks are involved in financing the assets then he's not free in his decisions. And liquidating under pressure is bad because prices will get haggled down.

[–] MudSkipperKisser 5 points 10 months ago

Hrm I would have used the quotes in the reverse way

[–] [email protected] 4 points 10 months ago

tiny baby hands reaching out grabbing air wailing "buuuut itttsssss miiiiine!!!!!"

[–] SkippingRelax 3 points 10 months ago

He can just sell his 30000 sqf triplex in manhattan

Whaaaa? Trump, a grifter? So out of left field.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 10 months ago

Who could have ever expected this from a sleazy real estate asshole?

[–] [email protected] 22 points 10 months ago

This Salon article is just a re-write of the original Politico article: https://www.politico.com/news/2024/02/14/trump-rnc-legal-bills-00141540 Always check the primary sources.

[–] [email protected] 21 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Oh man, if Trump not only sinks himself, but brings down the entire GOP with him....

[–] brlemworld 10 points 10 months ago

That'll never happen. They'll just grift more money from other evil fuck billionaires like Koch via "free speech" super PACs

[–] shyguyblue 21 points 10 months ago

Womp womp...

This is why he wants Lara installed as RNC chairperson, to smooth the flow of funds

[–] BustinJiber 4 points 10 months ago (1 children)

He should have went with Tiffany. Nobody remembers Tiffany, she could be perfect plant.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 10 months ago

Lara is way more forgettable than Tiffany. I was just thinking she was one of Trump's daughters and I just had to look her up to find out that actually she's married to one of Trump's sons. No, not Don Jr, the other one.

[–] proper 15 points 10 months ago (1 children)

now that he’s even more in debt he’ll be even more susceptible to foreign (or other) influence.

[–] FlashMobOfOne 1 points 10 months ago

And the scary thing is he's probably going to win.

Remember when he sold the Resolute Desk to Goya for ad space?

[–] fox2263 14 points 10 months ago (2 children)

People on TikTok keep telling me he’s a billionaire. If so, why does he raid the RNC coffers to fund his defense?

[–] [email protected] 10 points 10 months ago

If so, why does he raid the RNC coffers to fund his defense?

Because he can, and you don't get to be a billionaire without ripping people off.

But yeah, I don't think he has all that much money left now. But Trump ripping off whoever he can doesn't prove it. He'd still be doing that if he had $100B in his bank account.

[–] Lemminary 13 points 10 months ago

I hope so 🤞

[–] [email protected] 7 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Maybe he'll release more NFTs?

[–] jaybone 3 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Wait was there something about him and NFTs?

[–] andrewta 6 points 10 months ago

Reap what you sow.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 10 months ago (1 children)

He's a succubus. A fraudulent succubus.

[–] SlopppyEngineer 5 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Incubus. Succubus is the female demon, incubus is the male version.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Methinks homunculus is more accurate anyways.

[–] Lionheart_xa 1 points 10 months ago

No it'd be incubus. Succubus means to be laid upon incubus means to lay on. We all know that ol Donny is the one ramming the gop.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 10 months ago

No need to fear, GOP.

He will.
