The scary part is that seems to make no difference (to people, corps, countries). Has anyone changed anything based on passing that target? Will the anyone change their minds or behavior with this new projection?
Maybe I’m just cynical with the disaster of the US elections - we were finally making a little progress, finally had reason to hope, but we just threw that away
I have a brother who leans conservative, but not part of the cult. He is generally a good guy but a combination of being surrounded by conservatives and believing too much of what he reads online.
He’s an engineer at an old time manufacturer and especially condemns DEI hires. I have no way of judging whether they really do hire primarily for reasons other than merit, or if he has a limited perspective informed mostly by his peers, or if it’s really a generational problem as he’s part of the old timers being replaced by upstarts.

Yes the deficit is way too high, but also yes funding is too low on important things like safety nets, human services, infrastructure, long term societal advance. Most importantly, yes the unfunded tax cuts focusing on the wealthy and corporation of the last few decades is the real issue
While I’m sure it does happen ….. no one is doing that to the extent they are understaffed. That’s just dumb. If they are understaffed , its almost always budget

I’m opposed to insufficient funding for vital services but you don’t see me blaming DEI
Does it count if you’re saying: hire him as the best candidate but you have to make a high offer to get him because he’s black and in high demand
My field is white and Asian male dominated, so when the best candidate is an underrepresented demographic we need to jump on it

Slept in and made waffles for my kids …. I got too damn excited making Liege Waffles for the first time. The kids loved them but it’s a lot of work, even more cleanup, and molten sugar hurts like the dickens

I spent way too long looking at a four hour recipe (why not, dinner is a smoked pork shoulder that I really need to get started asap) before giving it up
Started off normally: eggs over easy and sausage links. Let’s make the pancakes a little different with bananas and walnut, and top with fruit and nuts ….
Critical question: why do we buy a specific syrup for pancakes? It’s just sugar (or corn syrup). So I used the syrup from canned mangoes!!!! Tastes great but a bit thin and I didn’t use enough. It would be easy enough to thicken up, I’m sure. But why isn’t this the norm? We should have flavored syrup all the time, maybe save money over the maple stuff
